Something like this will never bring it about. That would mean the Australian government admitting they sanctioned and covered up war crimes and are actively prosecuting those who made it public.
Anti-SLAPP doesn't stop these lawsuits from being filed. It also doesn't necessarily keep the costs low as was the intention. It can still cost $15k+ to resolve litigation through Anti-SLAPP and even if you're awarded your Attorney's fees it can still be a year or more before the litigation is over and you can even begin hope to get your money back. Anti-SLAPP is great at protecting people who are already not discouraged by the cost of litigation, but quite a bit less so for those who can't afford to drop 25-50% of their yearly income on a stressful lawsuit.

One of my buddies told stories regularly similar to Scojo (though with less disdain for the locals), and another specifically did not ever really want to discuss what happened over there. Everyone deals with things in their own way. I don't think there is a 'right' or 'proper' way of dealing with traumatic events. That said, it doesn't excuse literal war crimes. How they deal with things in the present does not change what they did in the past to cover up shootings of civilians.

Surely they can't be serious about taking this to court. All Jordies would have to do is provide his own video, and Scojo's podcast. It’s not like that in the Navy, most of us really distanced ourselves from the job when we weren’t at work. We did swap stories but they were usually humorous or interesting I did hangout with a group of combat engineers a few times owing to my ex being friends with their partners and there was more bravado and they did engage in behaviour that most sailors found distasteful but I assumed that was owing to the nature of their work and the expectations placed on them However they were quite humble and respectful when we discussed the nature of our work (with me being in engineering in the Navy) as our system knowledge was quite broad and they were surprised Maybe it depends on the unit they were attached to?
all war is a p*ssing contest. its what it is. so many times I've taken down army commentors with logical argument and they always revert to stand over macho replies attacking my manhood. as that's how they view the world. As a combat vet, hearing these guys describe all these gory details makes me think they’re either sociopaths or liars. I’ve never known anyone forced to take a life be so cavalier about recalling the moment.
There's a point that seems glossed over too quickly that we should all laugh about. It really seems like the lawsuit only came about because his friends, family, colleagues, fellow vets and everyone at the RSL now think he's total sociopath, and now everyone hates him.
Unfortunately dealing with whistleblowers is extremely difficult for any country. I personally don't have an answer for you in that regard. On one hand their achievements for the people are unquestionable, on the other hand there are laws and secrets that you must abide by. It's time there are laws specifically made for whistleblowers that judges can use to protect them in special cases where the public need outweighs the crime that was done in order to get the information to the public.
@@42ZaphodB42 if the country is imperialistic, then they are never going to make such a law that protects whistleblowers that are exposing serious crimes by their government. yet they will cheer on whistleblowers as brave if it's from a country they don't like/want to topple. usually the whistleblowing is because the people they've exposed were not abiding by these laws. they certaintly aren't abiding by international law either. that's clearly not the issue here.

Four general types of soldiers: Family military career history, patriots, those looking for a job, and those who are looking for a legal avenue to kill people. Met a few Scojo's, gungho cowards mostly who have no place in the ADF.
Our soldiers were never placed on the same type of pedestal yours are. None of this "thank you for your service" crap. We acknowledge they do a job, one they are highly paid for. It is our volunteer firemen and other Emergency Service volunteers that we hold in high esteem. They put their lives on the line, without being paid. They are in our country defending us.
@@elainemcalister9561there’s a lot of people who thank you for your service once they know you’re a veteran, it’s just that our personnel are instructed to not make it obvious that you’re serving/served. There’s also a strong culture of not taking any overt pride in your achievements and not showing any aspect of your service off In the Navy we called people “charry” when you drew attention to your service or showed off the uniform, medals, etc etc
I grew up in Canberra living near to and amongst all the armed forces people and their brats. The people who really really wanted to see combat are absolute psychos and Australia has not actually been threatened by an outside force for so long- they join wanting to kill people, that's it. Other people join for some other benefits and generally do their best to do their job, get out and move on with their life, some of them but effort in to also helping veterans get jobs outside of the military afterwards. Reflecting on a podcast with relish about your job killing people is sociopath behaviour that they wanted to do going in.
People like this have no business calling themselves "diggers". The ANZAC diggers of WW1 carried themselves with so much class, respect and distinction despite the horrors of war that there is still 100 years later a strong mutual respect between the Turks and the ANZACs after Galipoli. The ANZAC diggers of WW2 and the Pacific theatre forged permanent bonds with the Papuans that helped them in Kokoda. War is already horrible enough as it is, without dehumanising your enemy and debasing yourself to nothing more than animals. They're a disgrace to everyone that ever put on the uniform with genuine intentions.
A lot of Australian soldiers before getting deployed to Gallipoli were stationed in Cairo, and gained a reputation for harassing and assaulting local women
College educated post-grad in Modern History actually, focusing on WW1 and WW2. Have walked around Ypres, Flanders, Gallipoli and done Kokoda. There are dozens of documented examples of frontline soldiers being charitable and gentlemanly towards each other in war conflicts and highly appreciated by civilians that they were trying to defend. So much so in fact that 3 different countries (France, Turkey and Papua New Guinea) all have recognitions and monuments respecting Australian diggers and their conducts. Even the highly controversial war of Vietnam ended with large-scale migration of displaced civilians to Australia in part because they respected how they were treated. Are there outliers and court marshalls? Yes...but they were not protected, they were dealt with and stripped of their rights to call themselves Diggers, by their own peers, not protected by a culture that shouldn't exist. @@jakecarpenter11
After looking at this guy expose the cesspool of what Australian politics are really like, it has changed my vision of how I perceive Australia as far as always being a role model to follow regarding as to how a government conducts itself, treats its citizens and ultimately doing things for the greater good of not only the country, but of humanity in general. It's becoming really hard to find any government worthy of admiration today, regardless of economic or political system used. As someone that had violence inflicted upon them as a child, I can’t tell you how powerful it Makes you feel to uno reverse that violence on your attacker once your old enough to figure out what a kitchen steak knife will do to a man. The human brain is a fascinating chunk of electrified jelly. 🤷♂️😬
The irony being, blocking the video from being viewed in Australia, but nothing stopping you from viewing the video via VPN from any other country on the planet. Just saying. Watching it now from Miami .
Judging by ScoJo's personal absence from this whole thing and desire to only send his brainwashed and deranged fans at Jordies, I assume that he is actually a complete and utter insecure coward who can only attack you if you are below him, which is why he had no problem attacking civilians - because they are below him.

I grew up in Canberra living near to and amongst all the armed forces people and their brats.
