While they're most likely conducted by a soldier on the front line, I can only wonder how far up the chain of command knew about possible crimes but may not have reported them. If the alleged offenders are found guilty then they must investigate how far up the chain of command knew about it. All involved must be held to account.
The most alarming thing that I learned about the war in Afghanistan was that the CIA was running death squads there, which included sending special forces out to conduct assassinations of civilians from groups that were deemed a threat. This included the murder of whole families including children. What alarms me in particular about this is that they were likely using troops like the SAS to carry this out, and as a result tacitly endorsing the murder of non-combatants.

It'll be very interesting to see how far up the chain the prosecutions go in regards to the alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
While they're most likely conducted by a soldier on the front line, I can only wonder how far up the chain of command knew about possible crimes but may not have reported them.
If the alleged offenders are found guilty then they must investigate how far up the chain of command knew about it.
All involved must be held to account.
It would be a miracle if anyone up his chain, LET ALONE THE ONE WHO DID THE ACTUAL CRIMES, would be called out for them.
