RIP Andy. I was a big fan of DM in 80's and beginning of 90's, until Alan left and the sound changed. But I always kept a special place in my heart for their music. So sad...
We love you, Fletch! I’ve said your name every day since Dec. 2013 when I adopted a very awesome orange kitten named Fletch. Depeche Mode will always be my favorite! RIP Fletch!
I am forty plus, with the privilege of living in the 80s, with the luck of listening bands like DM I thank them for their art and .... RIP Andrew Fletcher.
I was really shocked when I heard the news. I couldn't believe it and burst into tears. For me it's like a loss of a close friend. I've been listening to Depeche Mode for 30 years and its members are like relative people for me. Thank you, Andrew for your life and work! All your Russian fans are mourning with me. Rest in peace, our dear musician! Kirill (Cyril) Kazimirov, Astrakhan, Russia.
RIP fletch. I've been listening to Depeche mode and their side projects since people are people played on usa radio. it always amazes me how many Russian fans DM has.
My God, this is really sad. My all time favorite band has lost Mr. Fletcher. My world will never be the same again. RIP Andy and may God be with your family.
RIP Andrew Fletcher. Proud to have shared my youth with Depeche Mode and has been part of my life till today. . . highlight being 101 being the best ever live performance never quite ever matched by any other of their live performances.
I'm just devastated....been a fan for nearly 40 years, Fletch has always had a very special place in my heart. Now there's just a huge, Fletch-shaped hole in my heart. RIP, Andy. Thank you for all these years of music. Enjoyment. Fun.
Oh no. we lost a beautiful soul. Thank you Andy for all the amazing songs . You and Depeche Mode have been one of my all-time favorites. I hope you now see what a great blessing you have been for all of us. Prayers to your family and the band.
Sad news to say the least. As many other fans I grew up listening to the Mode. So glad that I was able to enjoy seeing them in concert. R.I.P. Fletch. Condolences to family, friends and fans of the group.
I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I just re-discovered DM a couple of years ago and LOVE the band and their music. Fletch always seemed to be the voice of reason and was so funny with his dry sense of humor in interviews.😢
Really saddened to hear you're no longer with us, I really liked your sense of humor, my heart is going out to your family and friends, last night I was listening to the Violator album and thinking of the good times I've had listening to your music.
R.I.P Andy, A true legend right from the start in the 80's With Martin, Vince, and Dave. of Many Depeche mode songs. People are people, shake the disease, and of course Just Cant Get enough. My condolences to them all and to his wife children and Family. Andy will never be forgotten behind the keyboard with his warming smile.
My all time favorite grew up listening to them in 80’s in high school My heart is broken so many memories affiliated with their music Much love to everyone rest easy Fletch
God Bless this man and his loved ones. A true legend of great sounds! I'm glad he was able to be recognized in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, just last year, I'm thinking it was last year. In any case, thoughts and prayers for Andy.
Can't believe this! What happened? Leaving us at 60?! This hurts badly. DM music stands for SO much love, memories and unique, outstanding music for hundreds of thousands of us. DM is a part of me, a generation, a part of our music history that is still ongoing. Now what? Please DM, please don't stop....don't stop making OUR music 🙏
I feel dave hit it on the mark on how music saved them...I 💯 agree with that! Depeche mode has always been part of my soundtrack..so sad to hear about fletch...My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to his family friends and loved ones..especially for Martin and Dave...God speed 🙏
The guy was only 60, that's not even retirement age. Why are so many people dropping like flies? The only thing that's peculiar is all these people have taken experimental jabs in the last two years, but the press never asks if that's behind it. #culling
This band was my absolute favourite band in my early teens... (That was before I became a metalhead. But I listen to most kinds of music. I still enjoy older Depeche Mode stuff). R.I.P Fletch!♥️
Seen many deaths in my life ..but first time I closed my mouth and was like whattt?!! Such a shock it was ..thanks for all those good memories sir..RIP sir Andy
Obviously I know we all die and I have no fear of death. Yet it always shocks me when such huge icons die. Especially when it's not "expected" like with a long health battle or people with a heavy drug/drink addiction. It makes me feel old whenever an Icon I grew up with, passes away. Makes me realize I'm not young and carefree..that any moment it could be myself or someone I love. 💕
Shocked and very saddened this disappointing news brings, but I believe that Fletch lived and loved and entertained a lifetime of greatness and I'm grateful to have been a huge fan of DM. Of course the band wouldn't have been the same without him. My heart goes out to his friends and family..
May God and Heaven take care of your soul, Andy, for you've made my(and millions') life a lot enjoyable, along with members of one of the greatest bands ever D🌹M! Rest in peace, you Legend!
Struggling with this news, many great memories of Andy and Depeche Mode !! Unforgettable concerts at San Siro 2009 and Stadio Olimpico 2017 !! RIP Fletch I will miss you 😔 💔 😢 xx
Came here after hearing about Andy's death. Cheered me up a bit. Dave: I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for the band and music" Fletch: " You would have still been stealing cars Dave" Martin laughs his ass off as if its true that was so funny, what a great bunch of guys Loved their music since I was a teen, now at 49 truely shocked about the sad news . Rip Andrew Fletcher and thank-you for your contribution. I always liked Fletch regardless of the criticism against him hopefully that will stop now.
Thank you fletch. You changed my life in ways I can't even express. Touched my heart and soul deeper than so many before you failed to do. You stand head and shoulders above all the greats. Rip
It's starting to sink in. I was given my first Beatles album Let It Be, as a four year old as a Christmas present. It was in 1969 and the Beatles were still together. I didn't even know the world of music existed until the Beatles. They broke up soon after, but I had amassed several of their albums in a short time, pleading that any money or presents got to immersing myself captivated by their music. No other groups mattered, as they seemed to be on another level. The hope for ten years amongst millions, after they broke up, was that somehow they might "Get Cack and Come Together, Right Now!". Then, while waiting for the school bus in 1980, while also listening to a rock station on the radio the news flashed that John Lennon had been needlessly killed. My hopes and dreams that they might one day resume as The Beatles was dashed. Lost for a bit, I started listening to Princeton College radio. A funny thing happened. A new sound, a "New Life" resonated through the speakers, and my ears were almost confused. There was nothing like the music I was hearing, and it had the same genius so evident to me in the Beatles. Depeche Mode had arrived to redeem the events that took place and music seemingly was saved. Then they backed it up, almost impossibly with Alan Wilder after Vince Clarks departure, (caught Vince Clark playing my Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer one day at a synth repair shop while waiting for one of his Roland rack mount synths to be repaired. He didn't like the iconic synth, as it didn't hit hard enough for him to get those plucky synth stabs :) DePeche Mode, anchored by Andy Fletcher had opened up a new genre that combined all the elements that kept synths in the back waters of music. The entire 80's was a magical time, and I opened up a nightclub dedicated to electronic music in 1989. It was a great ride and the club was in its heyday when Violator came out in 1991. There was seemingly no end to the genius that was Depeche Mode. No other band in my opinion other than the Beatles, had amassed such a catalog of amazing music to that point. When Alan Wilder Left, I think it was like history repeating itself when the Beatles up. Everybody hoped that Alan would come back. For me the music wasn't the same without him, and the synth textures and musical sensibility was never the same without him. So the same Deja Vu was seemingly at it again, with almost three decades waiting for the "New Life" to "Come Together". With the passing of Andy Fletcher that dream now also will have to fade. Fortunately people will rediscover Depeche Mode once again as they are timeless and an institution that is the benchmark of excellence just as the Beatles are. Depeche Mode is THAT important. So Andy, thank you for being the glue that kept things going, and being the Icon that you were. With Andy passing, just like a molecule destabilized with heat, music will now reassemble and take on a combination that reflects the next greatest era of music. The next great ride is awaiting, and thank you Andy for passing the torch.
🙏 Deepest Condolences to Families & Friends ... May Andy Fletcher be Blessed to a Better World & Realm ... Thank You So Much Andy for your contributions of your style of music at that era ... 🕯🌷🌿🌍💖🕊
Oh Fletch, I’m absolutely saddened. I’m so sorry for your family - DM got me through my childhood, dark times and all the way through my adulthood. Will still always remain my fav band in the world. Listened to speak & spell when I was 12 and I was hooked, and still am. I have every album, I’m sure Dave and Martin will carry on, just not sure it’ll ever be the same. But I won’t miss them should they decide to come to Seattle. 😢😢😢 Love y guys
RIP Fletch 🙏 You brought such joy through your music. Deepest condolences to your family, friends, and fans.
My God! Rest in peace Andy...we will cry in your every note...
Note? He didn't ever actually play any parts on a DM recording. He certainly could clap. So I'll miss that.
