    Love the Exner Forward Look cars 1955-1962. She's a beauty! I had a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2-door hardtop and a 1958 Plymouth Fury 2-door hardtop. Both were like new and all original when I had them.

      The Fury is a special edition submodel of the Belvedere. Similar to the way you have a Jeep Grand Cherokee "Limited"/"Laredo", or a Ford Mustang "LX"/"GT".

    When you're cruising at normal speed she's really quiet. There are big differences between sedans and hardtop coupés. A friend of mine has an unmolested 1957 Plymouth 4dr sedan with low mileage, the car rides a lot smoother and is more comfortable than my 2dr hardtop rattlebox, it almost drives like a new car. These cars have torsion bars + shocks in the front and leaf springs + shocks in the back.

    The thing that I admire most about this famous 57 and a half Plymouth Fury, is her backwards running odometer. It generates a rejuvenating power, which causes Christine herself to rejuvenate, but also rejuvenates anything in Christine's passenger compartment or trunk. When Arnie Cunningham first bought her, he wore glasses, that had gotten broken in the fight with Buddy Reperton in the school auto machanics shop. Assides from giving Christine a ring job so that she wouldn't burn oil and smoke up Darnell's garage, he did most of the restoration by driving Christine around the junkyard out back of the garage. The backwards running odometer rejuvenated Christine herself, but also rejuvenated Arnie himself, including his eyesight. Once Arnie's eyesight was rejuvenated, Arnie didn't need his glasses anymore. He came out and Dennis said "Hey man, no glasses, you're lookin' good!"
    I would love to have a Christine car that really had that kind of rejuvenating power. I have some iconic dining chairs that I really cherish. They are these Early American wooden spindle back chairs that are known as mate's chairs. They are distinctive for their guitar shaped seats, curved and scolloped back rails, ornate spindles and leg structures. Some people that I have over for dinner may not be as kind to the chairs as my girlfriend and I are. They may lean back on two legs, slouch, or scoot the chairs out from under the table with all of their weight on them. Those are three common things that are bad for most wooden dining chairs. If I had a Christine car that really had the odometer that generated that rejuvenating power, I would like to four times a year put the chairs in Christine, get on I-77 south, and make a run down to Columbia South Carolina and back. This would be preventive mantainence for my beloved mate's chairs.
    I could also use Christine to rejuvenate other things as well. I work as a dishwasher at the Cypress Club of Charlotte, and we have a lot of incidents of dishwear breakage. We put all of the breakage in a deep bus tub. I could take that bus tub of broken dishwear, put in Christine, and do the same as I would do with my mate's chairs. If my DVD player is pixilating and freezing up, I could use Christine to rejuvenate the DVD player. These are some great examples of how Christine's rejuvenating power could really be useful.

      Some classic American cars from the 50’s were actually pretty fast even by today’s standards and fun fact for you the 57 Fury was Americas first full size muscle car to actually be called a muscle car

    When I read the book "Christine", I picked up on Stephen King's vehicle lingo. The dashboard instrument panel lights are the "Cat's Eyes". The Oil and Amp lights are the "Idiot Lights". The front passenger's seat is the "Shotgun Seat".
    Sharing an obsession with the Titanic with my girlfriend, and being fond of an iconic dining chair, known as the "Mate's Chair", I say that Christine's left side is her port side. Her right side is her starboard side.
    On the '57 Plymouth, the speedometer is calibrated to 120. But on the '58 it's calibrated to 150.

    • @MrAlecZ1
      @MrAlecZ1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No Fury is calibrated to 150 because the engine is more power. Belvedere and Savoy to 120 mph.

    awesome! I was waiting for this clip :P
    AudioMobil I have a question for you... according to my father, the big drawback of having a 58 plymouth would be that, even know that the V8 sounds lovelly, it would get annoying to hear something so loud when cruizing. And I was gonna ask you your opinion on that, in this video it seems that she can be very quiet while cruizing and I like that :) Also, how confortable is the ride and what sort of suspension does it have front and back? Thanks, Fradias :)

      Wow - sorry to add this after 4 years. I had a 57 Plymouth Fury Golden Commando that was a race car in New York. I bought it at an old car lot in 1963 in North Carolina. It had one of the 4 barrel carbs disconnected and a couple of the spark plugs removed. I tried it out at the old dealers place and spun the wheels getting out of the yard. The guy said - Bill - take it off my hands - I am tired of putting back wheels on it. It would burn the rubber off the wheels even the way it was set up. Well - I connected the two 4 barrel carbs and put new spark plug wires in. I had to replace the left rear spring because it had a cracked leaf. It sat level after that. The picture of it is on my picture here. That is the only pictures that I have of it.
      I was clocked at 146 mph through a speed trap and my buddy that I was racing down the road was clocked at 122. He was in jail and I went and bailed him out the next day. He forgot to tie down his battery and it tipped over when he made the right turn into base. He drifted to about a couple hundred feet before the gate.
      Well - kids will be kids and we sure had fun with those cars. He had a 1959 Ford and just got a new 4 barrel carb hooked up. I walked right past him on the highway. Maybe my car was the Father of Christine. I will never know for sure. My car would just float down the highway at night along the beach at 150 mph - but maybe it was less but the needle would lay over to the 150- mph and just quiver. It was so peaceful and quiet those nights.
      The cop that I knew in Shalotte S.C. said to me - Bill - I know where you live and I will get you if you try to out run me. I know I can't catch you but I will get you. Well we became friends and I told him I would obey any speed laws. He said that there was a road along the beach that was deserted at night and was a straight stretch for miles. Well - he was right and that was where I would open it up. Those were the fun times in my life - back in 1963.

    • @justinstearns9723
      @justinstearns9723 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Golden Commando 350 is a B block motor, like the original 318, 383, etc. Technically it's a big block. It was only made in 1958. I believe this car has a 318 Poly though.

    christine is a plymouth fury so whats a belvedere ? whats the difference ?

    • @AudioMobil
      @AudioMobil  11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To make it short: The Fury was the top model and had a different engine setup, trim, color and some other options. Basically any 2dr hardtop (Savoy, Belvedere, Fury) could be turned into a Christine.

    • @isabellatraylor7683
      @isabellatraylor7683 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Clift the body trim is different also she is a belvedere the fury's back is a bit longer also the car is closer to the ground
