A 1 of 2 Christine “screen used” car failed to sell at auction last year. The winning bid was $275,000. The owner wanted $500,000 so he didn’t sell. Honestly, I myself could never part with a Christine for any amount of money. I’d rather have the car than the money.

I could have NEVER, ABSOLUTELY AND DEFINITELY NEVER let go something as beautiful/wonderful like this iconic automobile with it's unique design. Especially not after restoring it for years to be better than new! Extremely tough decision and I admire you for being able to do so.

The cars used in the movie are documented in a folder owned by the owner we restored his car back in 2011. They used half Belvedere and half Fury (whatever they could locate at that time)... and some of the cars were actually 57s put together... 20 approx in all. you are correct in this video shes a Belevdere... Martins car was a 58 Belvedere too and its stunt car 1 in the movie. hope this helps.

I can't imagine they put so many attention and care to every even so tiny detail back in the 50s on the assembly line. OHHH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Impeccable work on this car. I am old enough to remember the brand new 57 models of every make, and it was the 57 Chrysler Dodge and Plymouth models that produced my love for "Mopars", as my mom and grandmother had purchased a '57 Chrysler Windsor 4-door with the 392/2bbl. This 1958 , however is 10x times better then when they even came out of the factory. SUPER sweet, and to hear that the brightwork trim is the original on the car, along with the rear window gasket, just astounds me and is a testament to the workmanship and quality materials from those days, and you folks have outdone the factory work by far. To me, there would be nothing sweet about it leaving. I would most probably have tears in my eyes. KUDOS to a job most certainly well done, and you can beam with pride over that! BTW, my careerwas in the glass industry from commercial/residential glazing to automotive glass (my main focus), and the company I worked for would send me to several states to rectify issues in various stores, both from a management and employee standpoint, to cars that no-one could seem to figure out, much less install the glass correctly, hence my specific reference to the rear glass gasket. Job WELL DONE!! Isn't that the 318 poly motor with twin Carter afb's?

The backwards running odometer is the thing I admire most about Christine. I could use a Christine to use for rejuvenating purposes. The odometer not only rejuvenates Christine herself, but also anyone or anything in her. There is a lot of planned obsolecense in today's flat screen TV's, and they are not cheep to replace. If I had a Christine with that rejuvenating power, and my flatscreen TV goes on the blink, I could slide it into the space in the back just behind the front seat. Then, get in Christine, and go hop on I-77 south, drive down to Columbia SC and back. Why Columbia SC? It's the most accessible destination from where I live, and I-77 south is fairly accessible from my apartment complex in south Charlotte. I also have four dining chairs that I cherish as much as Arnie Cunningham cherished Christine. They are Early American mate's chairs that resemble the old Pizza Hut chairs, distinctive for their ornate spindle backs and guitar body shaped seats. Four times a year, I'd like to put those chairs in Christine, and drive down to Columbia and back for preventive maintenance on the chairs. A Christine would also come in handy if my mom drops her cherished flower vase. Sweep up the shards, put them in a plastic bag, take it in Christine, and go for a drive to rejuvenate it.

I can truly understand your pain. Broke my heart to sell my 58 Belvedere when life took an ugly turn......Think the only way I can ever own another is if I win the lottery....Then, I might even go after a movie car and I'll be saying...."How much are you asking for her ?
I mean what ever it is it's not enough!"

I live in Evansville, IN. and had no idea that Plymouth was still producing here in 1958. This 58 must have been one of the last Plymouths produced here before the plant moved to St. Louis, Mo. (I just googled it and found that the plant closed in 1959 and it was the biggest employer in Evansville at the time.) I am now 73 years of age and around 1972 or 1973, I purchased a restored 1952 Plymouth, which was produced in Evansville. I sold it in 1974 for $300.00. How times have changed.

I wish I could've seen Evansville back in the day. International Harvester, Plymouth, Coca cola, Bucyrus Erie, Hercules, whirlpool, Hahn, ect. Southern Indiana was an economic powerhouse but it's now a shadow of it's former self :(

@@detroitdiesel-vu3ig Servel was at one time the largest employer with 10,000 employees. They laid off almost 100% of their employees in the mid 1950's, my deceased father being one of them, and Evansville went from being a giant manufacturing and war production city during WWII, to almost a ghost town in the mid to late 1950's. My Dad was in his 50's at that time and had to leave Evansville and go to Chicago, with other former Servel employees, to find work at a Diesel Train manufacturer. Dad said, that the Servel gas refrigerator was so long lasting and dependable that Sevel put themselves out of business. At one time Evansville was known as the Refrigerator manufacturer of the world.
Today, Evansville is one of the largest manufacturer of plastic materials in the country with Bootz and Crescent plastics being the 2 largest in the city. Yes, you are correct, the population in the mid 1950's was around 150,000 and was at one time the 2nd largest city in Indiana. Today, the population is still 150,000 and the third largest city in Indiana.

Beautiful job terrific attention to detail when I was nine years old my dad bought a 58 Belvedere Plymouth convertible first convertible he had ever owned and I thought it was terrific. Being an only child he would let me drive it with him in the car had a Lotta good memories in that car. My cousin took it out. Saturday night was going way too fast at the corner. Some gas pumps flew 8 feet in the air hit a brick building totaled the car naturally he died in the accident, so there was bad memories to first car I’ve ever seen the speedometer go past 120 and it has a two barrel carburetor which I thought was pretty impressive.

Holy God what a beautiful car. It gives me goosebumps. I would drive it. Not in the rain or snow. But I would drive that girl. Carefully. Because that's what they're meant to do.
"C'mon, big guy. Let's go for a drive. Let's cruise."
    "Yes, ma'am."
Fill it up with hi-test, and motorvate.
