I had never watched a Pallavi better than this wonderful presentation by Sujata Mohapatra, either live or on video. After watching this beautiful rendition, I am now convinced that you don't need a voice to sing a raaga or you need ears to listen to it. With the graceful lyrical movements of her eyes, neck, torso and feet and that wide and beautiful smile she was sporting, I was relishing the blossoming of the Basant Raaga through my eyes only. Only the favorite, dedicated and hardworking disciple of the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra could perform such an intrinsic, poetic and graceful dance of Odissi. Her mudras and different body postures matched the Raaga with highest level of precision. Congratulations Dr. Mohapatra. You are the real jewel of Odisha.
