    Good points about the varied styles of art. I would like to see an edition of the game done entirely in style of the map.

    Totally agree with you about the art, which is, nowadays, hugely important. Good review as usual!

    Seems like this might be a good introductory game for getting my kid into board games. Hadn’t heard of this game so thank you for highlighting it.

    Looks really fun. I love simplicity and I like the uncomplicated art style. I noticed how the art seems to have several different styles and some are stretching pretty far apart, but I guess I’m used to magic the gathering which has many styles. The muted pastel colors on the map makes me happy, it’s like a resting space for the eyes.

    One thing I often wonder about is how TH-camrs have to constantly introduce new games to grow the channel, but they must have old favorites. Would there be any merit to a series called Dungeon Dive Classics? Every once in a while you circle back to an old game, tell us how your game went, and maybe provide new insights and thoughts. Idk, seems interesting to me. I am very curious about the original Warhammer Quest, for example.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Oh yeah. I already do that. I revisit old games often! I’ve featured things like Talisman, WHQ, Return of the Heroes, Runebound 2e, and stuff like that!

    • @TheDungeonDive

      Have you not watched my 20 part series on Warhammer Quest? It’s the most comprehensive WHQ series on TH-cam! I look at everything ever made for the game!

    I really like the goods cards black and white art.
    Also the boss cards pastel look is nice.
    I agree with you about the art choices.
    They should keep one of those artistic styles, not all.
    Given the look of the map/board they should choose the goods black and white style on all cards.

    oh man this looks sweet! a perfect beginner game, that the family can grow into (not so simple) and I think it would be really fun to create a dungeon on the side to crawl through, for co-op play, maybe using tiles from another game...

    Great video. Are you going to do a video on the solo scenarios? I hope so. The game looks like a nice time filler but I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy it playing it competitively against myself.

    Looks good. I could do with a couple of more games that are quick to learn, play and setup. Sometimes it's just too much work to learn or relearn a more difficult game (so the Xbox gets put on instead).

    Hey Daniel. I have a question, well a request really. It may sound like a stupid one and please forgive me if it is. Basically Ive often bought board games, with a full intention of playing them. Then get intimidated by the rule books and the whole process of learning a game and setting it up etc. Then it ends up on a shelf, with honest intentions to revisit, but dont. From what I understand its quite a common problem in the hobby. My question, request is. What tips would you give to someone new to board gaming who struggles with this? Sit down and read the rule book front to back. Learn it in stages by actually playing it? Watch youtube videos? Maybe it would be a good video to do about the whole subject of how to learn new games. I apologise if you think this is a dumb idea. Please keep up the amazing work.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Carl! This is one reason why I've gravitated away from big and complex games over the years. Me learning method is to get the game set up, and then play the best I can while reading the rules. If it's a more complex game, I'll usually take the rule book with me during the week. I also check BGG for any player aides that might help, especially those made by Universal Head.

    You question the replayability of the game. Can you compare it to a game like Talisman which is also a light, competitive, adventure quest type game? The game is competitive. Is there direct player interaction?

    • @TheDungeonDive

      Talisman has more variety. There is some light player interaction to see who can complete quests first.

    Hm. Discarding cards after slogging to earn them feels unnecessarily difficult. Did they not want any sort of permanence in the game? Perhaps the win condition is what led them to this design?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The cards are spent like a currency, which provides a choice. I think it works. I don’t need every game to end up with piles of cards on characters.

    Looks a bit similar to 7 moons! Do you like Glory or 7 moons more in terms of variety / replayability or simply in fun terms?
    I think 7 moons while having a limited depth or cards have a surprising amount of mechanisms in play (trade resources / upgrading minus / draw tokens from bag / dooms day counter and even a roleplay mode). A nice celebration of all these classic board game mechanisms!
