The Time owes nothing to Prince. They all collaborated and came from different bands when they were younger and some already played together including Prince. He gets credit for the first 2 albums by axing Alexander O'neal and Cynthia Johnson and others of Flyte Tyme and replacing him with his former high school drummer Morris Day, and as he's correct Bobby Z can't F with him on best day,,,,keeping the core Jellybean as the drummer Jam and Lewis, and Monte bringing in Jesse Johnson and changing the name to The Time and changing the conditions of the their recording deals for copywriter and contract purposes. Thank you Alexander. Ice Cream Castles were mainly produced by Morris Day and Jesse Johnson under the Starr Co. (Prince). He approved the songs. The Purple Rain Time only consisted of 3 original members, Morris Day, Jesse Johnson and Jellybean. It's about who can execute the music. Jerome Terry's brother came as a chaperone. Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Monte were replaced by Mark Cardenas, Paul Peterson and Jerry Hubbard on bass after Jam and Lewis had a dispute with Prince. Monte left on his own out of loyalty. If you didn't follow them from 1981 you don't know the band or their history. Jerome stayed,,,,The Time is the Time as long as you have at least the core, Morris, Jellybean and Monte, or Morris, Jam and Lewis, and Jellybean. That's bad business. Eventually, Jimmy and Terry would leave on their own terms. THE FACT REMAINED, THERE WOULD NOT BE A TIME WITHOUT PRINCE.
