- One of the most popular and famous traditional folklore songs in Botswana originally named "Bakgomohi" but popularly called "Go ka tweng" due to the lyrics.
The lead singer is Ms.Gaotswesepe Robalang from Mmashoro village near Serowe who lived from 1923 to 2010, the origin of the song is not clearly known because the lady heard it from the elders (Bagolo) when she grew up.
Even nowadays, this song is still very often played on sundays on the local radio show called "Dipina le Maboko" between 9 and 10am.
More info and translations to follow shortly, enjoy. - เพลง

When growing up my sweet Grandmother would switch on RB1 in the early mornings and this song would be one of the songs playing. She passed on this morning and I'm here listening to this masterpiece and all the great memories are coming back. She will be dearly missed.
May her soul rest
Beautiful.....reminds me of my childhood, Dipina le Maboko, every single Sunday....Rb1 Fam!!!!
...as I grow older and wiser, I'm starting to understand the level of spiritually, self awareness and identity. Listening to this sad song, not only inspired me to understand myself, but forces me to understand my roots. Nxu stru 🙏🏽🤞🏽🙏🏽

I never understood these Rich BaMmangwato History until I tried writing down these lyrics, bam! the Lioness gives the honest truth - E e masi ga e itsale, Unlike their father, bana baga Khama its like they never had people (morafe) at heart, first Tshekedi threw some out of their village and second Botswana almost lost its diamonds! -connect the dots ANYWAY ITS MY BELIEVE THAT THESE SONG CAN BE USED IN LITERATURE AND HISTORY LOOKING AT ITS COMPOSITION! Check TLOU(? Moanelwa mogolo- kwaaks!- what is these Elephant in the room guys)
Mme kana Tshekedi cared about his morahe. These guys were not the only people to be from from serowe to form a village elsewhere. The reason why Tshekedi did these was to mark the Gammangwato territory. Mmadinare, Bobonong, Tonota and elsewhere. Tshekedi did a lot for Bangwato, building schools such as Moeng college and establishing serowe as the trade center.
Thanks for the lyrics. MMe i believe ya re 'babinatlou mo tloung ke dule'
Thank you for the lyrics...

There is something spiritual that is deep in this music. In these times of uncertainty and political changes, one cannot help being affected by the humble nodes that made Botswana’s democracy.
great respect from indonesia

You said it in the most precise way.

My mother used to sing this one thata ke sa itse le gore ke pina tsa kgale. Over 16 years since she passed. May her soul continue to RIP

This song is still rocking on RB1 ❤❤❤
History brings me here…😢😢 Emotions all over..
Go ka tweng❤🇧🇼
My great great grandfather Kgosi Bakgomogi,a great man he was👑❤,continue resting old timer.
This is the music that defines Batswana. Who we are now, we play western music. We are lost Batswana
This song reminds me of those years, my father would travel to Rhodesia just to buy the latest radio and a record player, I love it so much, this is a treasure indeed, by the way the lyrics are deep and cannot easily be understood, someone must document the history told in this song, it's rich and deep.
Setswerere sa pina ....
Beautiful piece indeed! I just like the artistic display here. She plays with the voice in a very interesting way. If she was still alive, i would pay her a special visit and ask her to sing it for me❤
I think all of us here who are touched by this beautiful piece could come together and contribute towards a prize in her name that could be awarded to the best Setswana student in Std 7 in her village? Or something in those lines????
Lets do it
The night before my baby daddy died 😢 he was listening to this song on repeat mode 😢 he even translated it to me.😭 He's been gone for 10 weeks now😢😭

@@dustnfire8957 It was heart failure

My condolences. What does it mean?

A true legend, heroin, composer poet, a spiritual healer indeed, listening to this just feel like praying...... omg
So many beautiful memories coming to my mind listening to this beautiful piece of art.
This is a very emotional song,i wonder a lot bout it,how was life in Botswnaa when it was recorded and the feelings the composer has when she did this song
God bless her! Please give us more from her. Thx for sharing! :)
Love the song
Thanx , reminds me of my school days. Traditional Dance Group KSS 1995.
"Go ka tweng? Go ka thuswa ka letsôgô ja gagwê. Le mokgôrô nka o sikara, ka tswa mô dipôitshêgông."
"What is it? You can help with his own hand. I can carry it, and I go out of the woods."
This a song of despair and the singer is saying despite that, he/she is ready to carry the cross and get on with life.

Growing up I thought this was a hymn. The day I learnt that this is actual a LAMENTATION I felt so bad.
lamentation to what?
@@Khumzalet Ke a bo ke tsile go e baya jang tota? The singer was interviewed live on RB1 while she was still alive and she gave the background to the song. She is lamenting how she grew up and faced many challenges as an orphan.
