The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
To raise awareness, Kevin has now set up his TH-cam Channel 'LionWhispererTV'. The channel is all about raising awareness about not only the declining numbers of lions, but also how this rapid decrease is happening. By watching these videos, you are directly contributing to our scheme of land acquisition.
Kevin captures the majority of his footage on GoPro cameras, allowing the viewer to get as close as possible to the lions.
By doing this, Kevin hopes to give people an insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and to let them see just what they can do to help. You can nearly touch them.
I think Bobcat is the most beautiful lion I’ve ever seen. Look at that magnificent mane. I bet all the lionesses think he’s a real honey.
I have seen more impressive and handsome lions but every lion is beautiful and not for being hunted, disrespected or any bad behaviour we humans have in store.

No matter how many times I hear it Bobcat’s roar gives me goosebumps. He’s a gorgeous cat. Look at him strutting on his walk then a nice roll in poop. Life is good.

I've heard it twice. If it's really close, you can feel it in your lungs. The vibrations almost make it hard to breathe its insane.
Nothing more majestic than a male barbary lion with a big mane such as Bobcat.
And boy what a privilege it is to roam around freely with him at ease.....

Barbary lions are not extinct as such. They used to be endemic to North Africa but hunting almost wiped them out. Although there aren't many left, they are spread throughout the continent.

I never knew that a male lions hair will change according to hormonal changes.
Nichole Research done by Dr. Craig Packer and the Serengeti Lion Project found out that dark maned lions have more testosterone. They are stronger, more aggressive and heal faster. They also found out that female lions are more attracted to dark maned lions. The females need a strong, aggressive male or males to protect them and their cubs so the cubs have a better chance of living. On TH-cam you can see Kevin and Dr. Packer do an experiement to prove this. The show was called Killer IQ: Lion vs. Hyena.

koudacyen Yeah, you got it! If "The Lion King" showed realistic lion behavior Mufasa and Scar would be a male coalition and rule the pride together. The females would have been more attracted to Scar because lionesses prefer their men tall, dark and handsome! Hyena's would never do a lion's bidding. In the wild, lions and hyena's are mortal enemies. It's a great kids story but there is no basis in reality.

Oh WOW Bobcat has grown into a massive handsome lion. With his impressive black full mane if he could have lived his life in the wild he surely would have been a warrior and the lionesses would have wanted HIM to father their cubs.

May you only remember the good times. I too had a wonderful amazing male cat that came when l called him he also walked on a lead and went where ever l went including shopping, holiday and even hang gliding which included going up the cable way. He was one of a kind filled with love. Never to be forgotton.

Omg...Bobcat went from being upset to being so calm, relaxed and content with daddy Kevin, just the two of them, sitting in the shade, in the African bush, no one around for miles on end, sitting together...I mean, this is sheer heaven! I love the lions so much and love the work that Kevin and his volunteers do every day, what a commitment and responsibility it is, and yet Kevin and the volunteers are always happy to do it all...so much admiration for them!

It may be Kevin’s voice. He obviously has something that cats feel comfortable with. My son loves cats (all animals actually) & has always had a great affinity with them. Often, upon arriving at a client’s house, he will automatically approach their pet, and is told “don’t bother, he/she won’t let anybody near them”; pet then proceeds to rubbing on my son while enjoying being scratched/patted!!

My instincts say highly unlikely.
Kevin is part of Bobcat pride and they are in Bobcat territory, he will fight if not heavily outnumbered, but i dont think there are other prides in that area, wouldnt be safe for Kevin to walk around like he is at home.

BigTeddy If I'm correct there are other lions in the area, but they're collared? So before the walks they're able to check their whereabouts and make sure they won't bump into any :) but I could be wrong...
I would really love to put my head together with the lion.. he is just so enormous and it would be awesome to have the trust of such an animal! Good work kevin!
