If even MrMatty has bad things to say about the game after playing it and a gamedev said you don't need 60fps on a game like Avowed and their target is 30fps, it's all starting to sound pretty worrying 🤣
Because they scrapped the game entirely AT LEAST once. They didn't target 30 fps lol they had no choice because the game is in a dogshit state. Nobody targets 30 fps because they want to. Starfield is even 60 fps now. The game clearly needs more time. They'll launch a performance mode 9 months into launch like every other game.
Seeing that original reveal made me kinda hopeful for an elder scrolls competitor in an interesting universe. Seeing in what it turned out makes me sad but not surprised. Modern gaming is a blight.
That's the biggest issue for those on consoles, they can't customize their own experience like we can do. 30 fps is ridiculous, it's like 32 ms frametime and causes crazy input latency and looks horrible, literally unplayable.
The vast majority of things Matty said were positive. Only sound, melee fight feeling and the 30 fps drama were negative. Of course he will have something to point out. It's not a perfect game.

Yeah i have to say it was lack luster, weapons all the same, story is boring and makes no sense in some parts, characters boring, level design was something i would be ok from indie developer, but obsidian yeah average game at best.
I played it through only because of the New Vegas fanboys overhyping the crap out of obsidian. Kept waiting for what and why anyone liked the game. Literally kept falling asleep with the controller in hand. Most boring crap I’ve ever played.
It's probably going to be like Pillars Of Eternity, but with an Outer Worlds perspective. The lore is great. That is something we know already, so at least you don't have to worry about that.
Yep basically 100% completed that game and can say barely remember any character in it. And with everything else about it was bad or so mediocre that I am surprised it keeps it at a positive review rate. And it has made me believe Obsidian god damn sucks at writing and creating their own worlds and story especially in Modern days. Doubt they'd ever reach New vegas level of stuff, but honestly even then that game is also overhyped as if it is so much better than the other modern games. Which I get story wise for Fallout 4,but the gameplay just felt much better to me in 4 that I just say meh i'll let people overhype New vegas.
Keep in mind they did the exact same thing with The Outer Worlds before it released. I believe directly stating, more or less, this is not newvegas 2, nor does it have its budget. Take that as you will.
It will come out in the same month like kingdom come 2, its dead on arrival. Todays obsidian is not the same company then it was a couple of years ago.
Dehyping a game is good, if the game isn't going to be that good. It's much better to temper expectations than to push hype for a game that will never meet them. The outer worlds was pitched as fallout new vegas in space. It definitely wasn't, and people were upset about it. Avowed is definitely not going to be Skyrim, pretending otherwise will only upset people.
How can they not optimize for 60fps? It's not a complex game, there's no over complex geometry or textures. And besides a combat heavy game needs to be responsive and low lag.

Without playing the game I can't really say if the games good or not.
The artstyle however, is hideous and I can say that with 100% confidence.
