Excellent initiative.. When I told my doctor Vinita Kaul (Fortis, Anandapur, Kolkata) that we don't want to have unnecessary caesarean, her reply was astonishing. She told that "No doctor will be available for 24 hr at hospital. If you opt for Bhagirathi Neotia, then it will be convenient for me for normal delivery." This Bhagirathi Neotia charges around 1.5 to 2 lakh for child birth whether natural or caesarean. I stopped consulting that arrogant money minded doctor from then and switched to Sishu Mangal Hospital, Kolkata. This hospital is run by Ramkrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, a NGO and it has a record of most normal child birth in Kolkata.
Private hospitals in Kolkata are nothing but premium butcher shops! All they think about is money. I have even seen that for the same test under the same sets of conditions, the Kolkata branch of Apollo was charging 2-4 times more than its Chennai branch. It's menacing!!
In a country where citizens live selfish lives, who cannot see beyond their own pain. Where society is so fragmented over petty reasons. As someone who had to undergo an emergency c-section, watching this is leading me to believe that this is purely an issue because of the incompetence of the doctors and not the procedure itself.
I would agree, as a geriatric mother with a breech baby who required a cesarean as well. I was fortunate that my medical team was well-skilled: I recovered quickly with minimal pain, and my scar is very small. Perhaps not optimal, but it seems the staff makes all of the difference with outcomes.

I went to the hospital recently and NONE of the nurses there were able to preform a simple blood test….. overpopulation and not enough properly trained healthcare workers is the main reason people are having extremely bad outcomes in hospitals. My sister is a gynaecologist.. M.S. OBG from top Indian govt medical college.. she brought down c Section rates wherever she worked.. But patients don't want to bear the pain.. they request for c section.. And don't listen to doctor.. patients also have fear psychosis .. my sister has done just around 500 cesareans but more than 10,000 normal Deliveries.. even did normal Delivery for Ladies who have undergone cesarean .. I'm really proud of her.. ❤❤
I know it's kinda inappropriate to ask this question online bue heck I'm scared of pregnancy and only want a genuine doctor to handle it when the time comes so can you tell me which hospital? This topic touched me in a deeper level. I live in Netherlands and was blesses with a baby this month. The baby was around 3.5 kg. This was our first baby so we were not sure what is the procedure of child birth in NL. Few months before the delivery we had an intake with doctor. The doctor CATEGORICALLY declined C-Section as an options. Here is what she said " we doctors in NL pledge to never harm our patients. A C-section means cutting 7 layers of human tissue. This procedure will actively harm the mother and baby. We will not perform this operation until either mother or baby are actively in danger " My wife was very afraid of a natural delivery. She is very soft person, because of that I was also not sure if she could do it. She was in labour for 8+ hrs. The doctors the nurses were cheering her all the way. Our baby was born naturally. One more very important thing about this procedure was the nurse and doctors asked for her "consent" for everything they do to her. In parallel in India my relative was also pregnant. Her child was around 2.8kg. she is way more stronger. She tried for a natural birth. But only after 2 hrs of trying doctors pushed for C-Section. She was almost done but they still insisted for C-Section. They tried all the fear tactics and finally her husband said yes for C-Section. I have no doubt about the talent of doctors in india. They are the best of best. But I highly dought their ethics. I cannot trust a single word that they say. And I don't believe that the decision they take is for my best interest.

You are correct, Indian doctors are good but they have to go abroad to practice without being forced to be glorified salesmen trying to sell you procedures and medicines that you simply don't need. As you say, they seem to abandon all ethics when they work in India, unfortunately. I've personally had bad experiences in India, the doctors were simply untrustworthy. This is a shame as India needs good, reliable, trustworthy, and ethical doctors.

My aunt is a gynae and she worked in this private hospital. One day a patient came her family was financially weak and the child was abnormal like he won't survive long. Looking at their condition my aunt just gave few injection and made her go normal delivery and because of this incident my aunt was humiliated by hospital authorities. And it was that bad that she left that hospital where she worked for years. Right now she is running her own clinic.
Plz also mention if this bad treatment was from PRIVATE HOSPITALS or Government Hospitals. The western media only knows to show the worst parts of India without doing research if the numbers of C sections are high in Private hospitals or Govt Hospitals. In private they hire doctors so that they could earn money but in govt hospitals it's the govt appointment where in its tax money that's paying for their salary.
Are you saying that bc they were not able to pay for a c section your aunt turned them away, even though they needed it for the health of the baby? I’m not sure if you are trying to say your aunt didn’t do the right thing or whether it was the work place she worked at gave her a hard time for not forcing a c section. It sounds like the baby should have been delivered as an emergency c section
@@TTTTP84 the baby was having a health condition and wouldn't have survived even 24 hrs after birth. The couple were poor people they came for normal delivery but were told that c section would be done instead. And the child even died within few hours of the birth. She told the situation to the couple before even making her go for normal birth.

In China, its the opposite. I had 48 hours of labor and they still didn’t agree to do a c section. Now I thank their decision. The pain was worth it. My body feels almost same as it was before birth

@@arya3944 i am touchy about this subject because all my best friends in India had to go through c section against their choice. It is also very common in China but private hospitals are very less or non existent so they can’t be so much for profit.

As a 24 y o woman , it scares me to think about the pain other women went through by the medical professionals whom we trust completely during such vulnerable moments . I delivered both my kids in Germany, during my 1st baby, I was in Labor for 37 hours, but the midwives n doctors here said it is normal. We wait, we observe, & will not go for c sec unless there's any problem with mother or baby. They motivated us a lot, no scaring, no panicking just helped us in every way they could, I used to hear only these sentences, "this is normal", "drink water", "keep walking", "we are here". I am blessed to be in Germany and not in India....I started my daily routine, bicycling etc just after 40 days. I feel so fit and healthy...
We have some wonderful hospital in India as well , who stress on Normal Delivery. We had such a wonderful experience with Sitaram Bharti Institute at Delhi in 2018....my wife was in labour for 12 hours until that moment of Pure bliss arrived 😊
Respect our doctors in India but the issue is the couple should do rigorous research and get the knowledge and find hospitals or NGOs where the number of natural births are delivered near your area or in your city. Not all the hospitals and doctors are bad. So I'm telling you the family and the couple require attention and be aware of what is gonna happen and tension in the middle class in India you all are aware of. I'm fortunate that I have done enough research before registering my name in the hospital. Although, its a government hospital .. almost 3 doctors changed during my labor pains till delivery. It almost took 24 hours.. I am grateful to all those doctors. Hatsoff to their patience!!
I went through something similar..myself and baby were healthy but still ended up in a c-section because the doctor was late and the assistant doctor and nurses couldn’t help in delivery without doctor..a very bizarre situation to think off..I am sure nurses and RMO should be able to handle a normal case in absence of a doctor but they refused..childbirth has become a profit making engine for the hospitals for sure. Huge respect for raising awareness on this issue. We too faced a similar situation. Despite the doctor advising an immediate c-section due to low amniotic fluid and the baby's position, we waited 24 hours in hopes of a natural delivery. However, we eventually opted for a c-section for safety. It was later revealed in the report that our baby had the umbilical cord around the neck, something the doctor hadn't communicated with us. While registering our baby's birth to discover that out of 50 deliveries in that private hospital, only 3 were natural. It's concerning how some private hospitals seem to have a bias towards c-sections for money greed. Making decisions during such times is incredibly challenging.
I delivered a baby in europe last year at age 40, the doctor categorically denied a c section stating that it will only be done in the event of an emergency. The doctor explained to me how vaginal birth is then safest form of delivery. The doctor a Belgian lady also told me how in countries like India and South America doctors push women for c sections to make money. I had a very easy labour and delivery, my cousin ten years younger than me had a c section in India and no real reason for it

I had an emergency c section for my daughter. I can say that they are harder to recover from than natural. Anyone who thinks it's an easy option, it's not. I had to have mine because my daughter was in distress. I was only 37 weeks along and was getting sicker by the day. Her heartbeat kept dropping. I'm thankful for the operation, but I wouldn't recommend it unless necessary.
@SE Immagine the risks when they cut your belly and uterus and have to saw it all. A friend of mine was sewes up inappropriately so the uterus was sewed up with other tissues, so having sex was so painful that she needed to get cut up and resewed again!
@Marcin No, he's not trolling. It's rare, but sometimes when they stich you up in the vaginal area, excessive scarring can occure and be cause of pain when having sex, but it's not that common. I never met anyone personally in my friend and family circle that had it, but it may occure in rare cases.

Here in Arunachal pradesh, a state on the northeast side of India, almost 90% of women are subjected to C-sections here. Due to fear, lack of knowledge, and continued pressure from doctors, many women’s go through cesarean. Many women's are dying here while giving birth, so after watching this video, i understand what the exact reasons behind C-sections. India needs to provide a perfect solution for this problem.
Unfortunately, this is the exact same case in Sri Lanka as well. My partner was such a victim!! :( They manipulate women to go for C-section. As naive young parents, we feared for our unborn's life!! Later, my partner developed many complications, including endometriosis, and a few surgeries!! I never wish any woman, mother, sister, or daughter to be in such bad condition because of the malpractices of these so-called professionals.

@@ranganaMIT Lots of people have endometriosis. It is not due to C section! Lots of people undergo c sections and only very few of them have endometriosis! Most people with endometriosis don't even have children. I empathise with your plight, but the C section is not necessarily the cause of your troubles. The endometriosis trouble will stop after menopause. Sorry to hear about your trouble, hope you have got good enough treatment for the pain.
That's what I just thought! I'm watching this and I'm from Sri Lanka and it made me think, the C-section birth rate in our country is incredibly high! I bet it's higher than India. Our doctors are greedy for money and lie to the parents and promote C-sections over natural births. This is terrible. In Guwahati, Assam as far as I know, the C-section rate in private hospitals is 100 %. We tried telling our doctor throughout the pregnancy that we are planning a normal birth which he agreed to until the day of the delivery. Some other doctor came, did some tests and told us that the heartbeat of the baby isnt regular so we have to go for c-section. I could tell it was bullshit but I couldnt disagree coz I assumed she knew more and what if she was really telling the truth. We had a perfectlly normal pregnancy; no complications whatsoever. Later when I asked the ward boy, security guys in the delivery section, they said that they never saw a normal delivery happening in the hospital. We had the procedure done in Apollo Hospital, Guwahati but from what I hear, its the same everywhere. All my friends who had a child in recent years were all delivered through C-section. Even my friend who is a doctor suggested that C-section is safer.
This has become a norm these days as if women are incapable of natural delivery. In the long run it will be detrimental to natural evolution and cycle.
Same thing happened for my sister in Pratiksha hospital. Initially they said it will be normal delivery but on the day of delivery they switched to c-section without telling us why?

Instead, spend a little more time n money to educate yourself on the risks of C-sections and benefits of natural births. This is a excellent initiative. I was wondering for a long time why nobody is talking about it. Many more sequels are needed to this episode. Even uterus removals have become endemic. I see it everywhere.
This is a major issue in the U.S. I hope more people become aware of this and we see change, we need to bring back experienced midwives and give mothers the right to decided what they want with their pregnancy.
It happened with my neighbor but things changed in a good way. The doctors were saying she has to go through c section but she got excessive labor pain and when she went to the hospital the doc who has to do an operation was busy so then they had a normal delivery. That day I realized what kind of disgraceful doctors they are.

There is a place in Kerala calld Birth Village, it's a holistic birth centre run by trained midwifes and medical personnel. They ensure that vaginal births are safely conducted even for mom's who've had a prior csection 😊. Its a beautiful place. I stand corrected with specific details of the staff.. I've had a work colleague who had a successful vaginal delivery despite her hvg had a c-section prior to this.. hope this helps

I understood the whole scam/ lack of expertise in my 34th week of pregnancy and took the bold step to travel down to Hyderabad by car from Nagpur just to have a natural birth at Rainbow Hospital. Even if someone has a c section, they should be at peace knowing that they were not cheated, because it causes long term birth trauma. We have the right to choose our doctor cause it’s our body. I gave birth in Canada. Due to preeclampsia, I was induced at 38 weeks. Was in labour for 48 hours without pain control, then opted for an epidural and two hours later my blood pressure spiked and my son’s heart rate plummeted. I was encouraged every step of the way to deliver vaginally until it became a real risk to him. Three minutes later I had a healthy 7 lb 8 oz baby with perfect apgars and my blood pressure came down so dramatically, I lost 30 lbs in swelling in two days. My hands and feet were wrinkled from the loss of fluid I built up. My caesarean was necessary, well-performed, followed up with the best of care (I was readmitted a week later, but I have a bleeding disorder, so that was to blame, not the care I was provided) and until it was 100% necessary, I was not rushed or pushed into anything. I was so fortunate. These stories and rates of up to 96% c-sections scare me. Regulation is necessary here.
Both pregnancies, ages 27 and 35, first at a public hospital 🇿🇦, second time with a gynae at a private hospital, I was told I would have to have a Csection. I gave birth naturally to both my babies, without forceps. No complications, both my kids were fine. Doctors cannot be trusted, sadly.
I am a proud Indian but I am ashamed to admit that I am grateful for having 1 miscarriage and 2 deliveries done in the US. My 1st pregnancy was only 7 weeks long. Then the heartbeat of the fetus stopped. I cried for so long, being away from family and my 1st pregnancy was so hard. My doctor said now you just wait until your period comes. Your body will figure out that something foreign is inside and naturally remove it. Everyone from India said that I need to have fetus removed surgically. Because that's what they do in India. Then my 1st delivery had all the reasons they give in India for emergency C-section. My water broke at 4 in the morning and I delivered my son at 10 at night. No one mentioned C-section until the end when the doctor is required to mention it. The cord was wrapped around my baby's neck. My baby was moving very slowly so in the end they used the suction but no C-section.
I had 2 deliveries in private hospital in Mumbai Ghatkopar, 1 in 2011 and 2nd in 2018, in both of deliveries there was no labour pain. Thanks to Dr Samir Joshi because, still he made my both deliveries as normal delivery. He is God for me because in last days of pregnancy, (exhausted period of pregnacy), i used to go to dr and ask, kabhi karne ka delivery, Dr. will be like abhi time hai madam, ghar pe jao aaram karo, kaho , pivo , labour ayega tab aana, y to waste time in cutting and all,, seriously awesome dr.. Throughout my pregnancy I was told I had so many complications and normal delivery wasn't possible. Consulted 3-4 hospital and on the delivery day, went to a government hospital. After 6 tiresome and painful hours, had a normal vaginal birth. Everyone was shocked bcs ppl had told me to get a c-section bcs it's easier and less painful. And wasn't expecting dat i wud bear labour pains and opt for a c-section

Everyone I know delivered through the c section. I barely hear normal delivery nowadays... Idk if people are not willing or doctors are forcing, but normal delivery has become rare and the c section has become the main route of child birth.
When I was pregnant with my first baby in 2007 I was living in Malaysia. And whoever I met back then, said they all had C section for baby delivery (expats and foreigners), I was shocked then number of C section given in my circle. I suspected Malaysian doctors do it for money. For my baby delivery I decided to go back to my homecountry where doctors do not do unnecessary surgeries. Delivered naturally a healthy baby boy, now he’s graduating from his O levels. Thank God I made that decision back then

This is sadly not just in India :( inducement and c sections have become so normal in Australia and the U.S. I am due in 2 weeks and plan to go naturally and allow my endorphins and hormones to act as natural pain relief. My body is not a lemon! It was made to birth children and I am proud of that.
Unfortunately sometimes we do need surgeries and medication. However, the norm shouldn't be to jump to c sections in healthy women during pregnancy and labour. There needs to be a better balance as can be seen from this video. And I intend to try and be as natural as possible because women's bodies are actually designed to birth children. That is my decision. If I need an emergency medication or surgery for my baby then of course I would consider it. But c section and inducement are my final options...not part of my first.

Not sure if anyone else in the comment section has mentioned this , but there was a Kollywood movie released in 2017 involving this same topic as the main issue. It's called Mersal (and it starred a really successful actor so it was super popular back then) and one of the protoganists in a victim to an unnecessary c-section . I'm not sure if the movie really raised social awareness since it also talked about other medical malpractices but it really opened my eyes to medicine in India.

@@fsu5555 Clever people choose doctors who practice in one or maximum two hospitals for pregnancy who does normal delivery and don't go to hospital unless they have so much labor pain that they think there's no other option to go to hospital.A person I know did this and she and her baby were perfectly fine(went to hospital after 14 hours of labor and then doctor there too was supportive for normal delivery).That being said she had conceived naturally,no complications whatsoever.And this in India.

Yes in India, certain hospitals (most of them in fact) push unnecessarily for cesareans. It's often not the doctors' fault but the management of those hospitals who forces its doctors to reach a certain yearly turnover. Appalling. In Mumbai, I had found a fabulous gynecologist who resigned from one of those big hospitals for these same ethical reasons (she is now practicing in Dubai). But she told me about something really interesting though. She worked for some time in the UK. She was telling me that there, because of the pressure of the medical insurance, doctors can tell by experience in some cases that the mother's pelvis for ex. is much too narrow for the size of the baby and that an emergency cesarean will be ultimately needed, but they have to let the woman go through hours of exhausting natural labour until the emergency cesarean occurs as a matter of life or death, because the pelvic measurements and parameters accepted by the insurance to justify a cesarean were not fully met, only borderline. I have also had certain procedures done abroad (in Switzerland) without anesthetia (horribly painful, I am still traumatized). I told this to some doctors here in India who opened big eyes, wondering how the hell doctors in Switzerland could have done that to me without anesthetia. Again, insurance coverage issues. So to say that the other side of the world also has its issues. (From a Swiss living in India)
@@QueenGurmehar yes, not like a whole surgery, but like a colonoscopy for example, or like a lumbar puncture (spinal tap). These procedures can be somehow bearable for some, maybe many patients, but will give excruciating pain to many others too. Since some patients can bear these without too much "drama", these are considered as "non painful" procedures.
You won't believe how many women and men don't want so experience or witness the long hours of suffering ( even if it's a normal case) and just want a c-section instead.

I had pre eclampsia and thank God for my c section or we may both have not survived. Blood pressure 210 over 120, fits, baby was posterior and in distress, tried to insert epidural 3 times as my spine is out and i didnt know till then, I did 12 hrs of normal labour after total induction baby was 35 weeks born at 4lb 6oz. This year she will be 30 yrs old 😊 my second child was also c section even though my pregnancy for him was perfect he was a twin, I lost it in the first weeks but he survived. This year he is 25 😊 I would always prefer a c section to forceps.
As a doctor myself. I have seen many labour but this becoming more popular because of doctor and if you are not ignoring the fact that most of India are not very well educated about medicine procedures and this make the procedure more lucrative and what not❤❤😢
Episiotomy which has become a standard procedure for vaginal delivery in India also needs to be spoken about. In most cases natural tearing is enough for baby to come out. But the cut is made no matter if it necessary or not.
Sometimes, the natural tearing may cause too much damage. Episiotomy is a controlled procedure so that major structures are not damaged, though, I agree, it is not a standard procedure.
Latest guidelines states that routine episotomy is NOT indicated. Only in certain cases involving assisted manoeuvres and increased duration of second stage labour with large head etc require mediolateral episotomy

I am another victim of this (from Kerala). This happened in a well renowned hospital for gynec and pediatrics, The Lifeline maternity hospital. I was induced at 38 weeks and finally they performed c section after suffering lots of pain for hours. Later I analysed that more than 70% of deliveries are c sections here. This is not only about this particular hospital, but with most of the private hospitals in Kerala.

I had a c section in Australia from medical negligence. I had an epidural. I fell asleep, they were meant to put me under observation for 30 mins before giving the hormone to keep labour going. No one came in for 8 hours until I woke up and started panicking and they all rushed in. My mother was supposed to be my support but she is medically illiterate and couldn’t understand that it was a medical emergency and never attempted to get any help believing I needed sleep. It was very traumatic. I’m still devastated.
If your medical team or staff are very neglecting then it’s a horrific experience either way no matter if it’s a natural delivery or C section. The amount of traumatizing birth stories I’ve heard from both sides is just insane to be honest. Society always glamorizes the concept of conceiving and childbirth, yet will neglect the mother way too many times.

Thank goodness, I am in the US, where I delivered my three babies naturally. Never a doctor suggested for cesarean. C-section is considered really the last option.
My mother had 3 C-sections, and Only mine was suddenly done 1 month premature because of the danger and we were in Hospital for awhile after that. And my mother still faces some physical health issues once in awhile because of 3 C-sections. I can say it took a toll on her even though she is still pretty healthy person
My wife had a normal delivery because she was adamant even during labour...the resident doctors wanted c section while our visiting doc(uk trained) knew normal delivery was possible. Post delivery the hospital staff told me that over 90% women had c section
Thanks for this. I'll at least make an effort to look out for honest hospitals when it's time. For any non-Indians wondering why govt/public hospitals are not an option for some of us, it's because they're generally very poorly mantained with gutka stains everywhere and lack of proper management at these places. For most people who grow up in middle-class households, public hospitals are almost never a considered option sadly.
Excellent initiative.. When I told my doctor Vinita Kaul (Fortis, Anandapur, Kolkata) that we don't want to have unnecessary caesarean, her reply was astonishing. She told that "No doctor will be available for 24 hr at hospital. If you opt for Bhagirathi Neotia, then it will be convenient for me for normal delivery." This Bhagirathi Neotia charges around 1.5 to 2 lakh for child birth whether natural or caesarean. I stopped consulting that arrogant money minded doctor from then and switched to Sishu Mangal Hospital, Kolkata. This hospital is run by Ramkrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, a NGO and it has a record of most normal child birth in Kolkata.
Private hospitals in Kolkata are nothing but premium butcher shops! All they think about is money. I have even seen that for the same test under the same sets of conditions, the Kolkata branch of Apollo was charging 2-4 times more than its Chennai branch. It's menacing!!

I would agree, as a geriatric mother with a breech baby who required a cesarean as well. I was fortunate that my medical team was well-skilled: I recovered quickly with minimal pain, and my scar is very small. Perhaps not optimal, but it seems the staff makes all of the difference with outcomes.
Not all cases are same some time c section are done to make paitent his or her life time client.

The healthcare system on a global scale is absolutely incompetent especially after covid. I went to the hospital recently and NONE of the nurses there were able to preform a simple blood test….. overpopulation and not enough properly trained healthcare workers is the main reason people are having extremely bad outcomes in hospitals.

But patients don't want to bear the pain.. they request for c section.. And don't listen to doctor.. patients also have fear psychosis .. my sister has done just around 500 cesareans but more than 10,000 normal Deliveries.. even did normal Delivery for Ladies who have undergone cesarean .. I'm really proud of her.. ❤❤

This topic touched me in a deeper level. I live in Netherlands and was blesses with a baby this month. The baby was around 3.5 kg. This was our first baby so we were not sure what is the procedure of child birth in NL. Few months before the delivery we had an intake with doctor. The doctor CATEGORICALLY declined C-Section as an options. Here is what she said " we doctors in NL pledge to never harm our patients. A C-section means cutting 7 layers of human tissue. This procedure will actively harm the mother and baby. We will not perform this operation until either mother or baby are actively in danger "
My wife was very afraid of a natural delivery. She is very soft person, because of that I was also not sure if she could do it. She was in labour for 8+ hrs. The doctors the nurses were cheering her all the way. Our baby was born naturally. One more very important thing about this procedure was the nurse and doctors asked for her "consent" for everything they do to her.
In parallel in India my relative was also pregnant. Her child was around 2.8kg. she is way more stronger. She tried for a natural birth. But only after 2 hrs of trying doctors pushed for C-Section. She was almost done but they still insisted for C-Section. They tried all the fear tactics and finally her husband said yes for C-Section.
I have no doubt about the talent of doctors in india. They are the best of best. But I highly dought their ethics. I cannot trust a single word that they say. And I don't believe that the decision they take is for my best interest.

You are correct, Indian doctors are good but they have to go abroad to practice without being forced to be glorified salesmen trying to sell you procedures and medicines that you simply don't need. As you say, they seem to abandon all ethics when they work in India, unfortunately. I've personally had bad experiences in India, the doctors were simply untrustworthy. This is a shame as India needs good, reliable, trustworthy, and ethical doctors.
A good doctor is also an ethical doctor. If the doctor is lacking in ethics, than I'm sorry to say but he is NOT a good doctor.

My aunt is a gynae and she worked in this private hospital. One day a patient came her family was financially weak and the child was abnormal like he won't survive long. Looking at their condition my aunt just gave few injection and made her go normal delivery and because of this incident my aunt was humiliated by hospital authorities. And it was that bad that she left that hospital where she worked for years. Right now she is running her own clinic.

Plz also mention if this bad treatment was from PRIVATE HOSPITALS or Government Hospitals. The western media only knows to show the worst parts of India without doing research if the numbers of C sections are high in Private hospitals or Govt Hospitals. In private they hire doctors so that they could earn money but in govt hospitals it's the govt appointment where in its tax money that's paying for their salary.

I’m not sure if you are trying to say your aunt didn’t do the right thing or whether it was the work place she worked at gave her a hard time for not forcing a c section. It sounds like the baby should have been delivered as an emergency c section
@@TTTTP84 the baby was having a health condition and wouldn't have survived even 24 hrs after birth. The couple were poor people they came for normal delivery but were told that c section would be done instead. And the child even died within few hours of the birth. She told the situation to the couple before even making her go for normal birth.
I don't understand why women health considered so lowly whether it periods or pregnancy.....we women go thru alot and have nobody to talk about it... this is a much needed topic to talked about. I, myself went thru 2 C- sections in my life thank God me and my both kids are ok...but hearing these stories makes my heart shattered....nobody deserves this... awareness is what we all need...thankyou for the heartwarming video. ❤️

In China, its the opposite. I had 48 hours of labor and they still didn’t agree to do a c section. Now I thank their decision. The pain was worth it. My body feels almost same as it was before birth

I delivered both my kids in Germany, during my 1st baby, I was in Labor for 37 hours, but the midwives n doctors here said it is normal. We wait, we observe, & will not go for c sec unless there's any problem with mother or baby. They motivated us a lot, no scaring, no panicking just helped us in every way they could, I used to hear only these sentences, "this is normal", "drink water", "keep walking", "we are here". I am blessed to be in Germany and not in India....I started my daily routine, bicycling etc just after 40 days. I feel so fit and healthy...
Ladies in EUROPE are blessed. However, no one’s there to rescue or save us who are in India.
We have some wonderful hospital in India as well , who stress on Normal Delivery.
We had such a wonderful experience with Sitaram Bharti Institute at Delhi in 2018....my wife was in labour for 12 hours until that moment of Pure bliss arrived 😊

Respect our doctors in India but the issue is the couple should do rigorous research and get the knowledge and find hospitals or NGOs where the number of natural births are delivered near your area or in your city.

I'm fortunate that I have done enough research before registering my name in the hospital. Although, its a government hospital .. almost 3 doctors changed during my labor pains till delivery. It almost took 24 hours.. I am grateful to all those doctors. Hatsoff to their patience!!

I went through something similar..myself and baby were healthy but still ended up in a c-section because the doctor was late and the assistant doctor and nurses couldn’t help in delivery without doctor..a very bizarre situation to think off..I am sure nurses and RMO should be able to handle a normal case in absence of a doctor but they refused..childbirth has become a profit making engine for the hospitals for sure. I am happy this topic has come to light

Huge respect for raising awareness on this issue. We too faced a similar situation. Despite the doctor advising an immediate c-section due to low amniotic fluid and the baby's position, we waited 24 hours in hopes of a natural delivery. However, we eventually opted for a c-section for safety. It was later revealed in the report that our baby had the umbilical cord around the neck, something the doctor hadn't communicated with us.
While registering our baby's birth to discover that out of 50 deliveries in that private hospital, only 3 were natural. It's concerning how some private hospitals seem to have a bias towards c-sections for money greed.

I delivered a baby in europe last year at age 40, the doctor categorically denied a c section stating that it will only be done in the event of an emergency. The doctor explained to me how vaginal birth is then safest form of delivery. The doctor a Belgian lady also told me how in countries like India and South America doctors push women for c sections to make money. I had a very easy labour and delivery, my cousin ten years younger than me had a c section in India and no real reason for it

I had an emergency c section for my daughter. I can say that they are harder to recover from than natural. Anyone who thinks it's an easy option, it's not. I had to have mine because my daughter was in distress. I was only 37 weeks along and was getting sicker by the day. Her heartbeat kept dropping. I'm thankful for the operation, but I wouldn't recommend it unless necessary.
Well I have met many women not recovering quickly from natural birth and had to undergo reconstructive surgery to fix it.

@SE Immagine the risks when they cut your belly and uterus and have to saw it all. A friend of mine was sewes up inappropriately so the uterus was sewed up with other tissues, so having sex was so painful that she needed to get cut up and resewed again!
@Marcin No, he's not trolling. It's rare, but sometimes when they stich you up in the vaginal area, excessive scarring can occure and be cause of pain when having sex, but it's not that common. I never met anyone personally in my friend and family circle that had it, but it may occure in rare cases.

Here in Arunachal pradesh, a state on the northeast side of India, almost 90% of women are subjected to C-sections here. Due to fear, lack of knowledge, and continued pressure from doctors, many women’s go through cesarean. Many women's are dying here while giving birth, so after watching this video, i understand what the exact reasons behind C-sections. India needs to provide a perfect solution for this problem.

@@ranganaMIT Lots of people have endometriosis. It is not due to C section! Lots of people undergo c sections and only very few of them have endometriosis! Most people with endometriosis don't even have children. I empathise with your plight, but the C section is not necessarily the cause of your troubles. The endometriosis trouble will stop after menopause. Sorry to hear about your trouble, hope you have got good enough treatment for the pain.
That's what I just thought! I'm watching this and I'm from Sri Lanka and it made me think, the C-section birth rate in our country is incredibly high! I bet it's higher than India. Our doctors are greedy for money and lie to the parents and promote C-sections over natural births. This is terrible.

In Guwahati, Assam as far as I know, the C-section rate in private hospitals is 100 %. We tried telling our doctor throughout the pregnancy that we are planning a normal birth which he agreed to until the day of the delivery. Some other doctor came, did some tests and told us that the heartbeat of the baby isnt regular so we have to go for c-section. I could tell it was bullshit but I couldnt disagree coz I assumed she knew more and what if she was really telling the truth. We had a perfectlly normal pregnancy; no complications whatsoever. Later when I asked the ward boy, security guys in the delivery section, they said that they never saw a normal delivery happening in the hospital. We had the procedure done in Apollo Hospital, Guwahati but from what I hear, its the same everywhere. All my friends who had a child in recent years were all delivered through C-section. Even my friend who is a doctor suggested that C-section is safer.

Yes, that's true. They won't do normal delivery anymore. I gave birth to my son who was 4.8 kg normally. Because I was determined normal delivery.
All over Assam all my relatives had c-section deliveries. They would lie about something or the other.
Same thing happened for my sister in Pratiksha hospital. Initially they said it will be normal delivery but on the day of delivery they switched to c-section without telling us why?

This is a excellent initiative. I was wondering for a long time why nobody is talking about it. Many more sequels are needed to this episode. Even uterus removals have become endemic. I see it everywhere.
This is a major issue in the U.S. I hope more people become aware of this and we see change, we need to bring back experienced midwives and give mothers the right to decided what they want with their pregnancy.
It happened with my neighbor but things changed in a good way. The doctors were saying she has to go through c section but she got excessive labor pain and when she went to the hospital the doc who has to do an operation was busy so then they had a normal delivery. That day I realized what kind of disgraceful doctors they are.

There is a place in Kerala calld Birth Village, it's a holistic birth centre run by trained midwifes and medical personnel. They ensure that vaginal births are safely conducted even for mom's who've had a prior csection 😊. Its a beautiful place. I stand corrected with specific details of the staff.. I've had a work colleague who had a successful vaginal delivery despite her hvg had a c-section prior to this.. hope this helps

I understood the whole scam/ lack of expertise in my 34th week of pregnancy and took the bold step to travel down to Hyderabad by car from Nagpur just to have a natural birth at Rainbow Hospital. Even if someone has a c section, they should be at peace knowing that they were not cheated, because it causes long term birth trauma. We have the right to choose our doctor cause it’s our body. Take a well informed decision!

I gave birth in Canada. Due to preeclampsia, I was induced at 38 weeks. Was in labour for 48 hours without pain control, then opted for an epidural and two hours later my blood pressure spiked and my son’s heart rate plummeted. I was encouraged every step of the way to deliver vaginally until it became a real risk to him. Three minutes later I had a healthy 7 lb 8 oz baby with perfect apgars and my blood pressure came down so dramatically, I lost 30 lbs in swelling in two days. My hands and feet were wrinkled from the loss of fluid I built up. My caesarean was necessary, well-performed, followed up with the best of care (I was readmitted a week later, but I have a bleeding disorder, so that was to blame, not the care I was provided) and until it was 100% necessary, I was not rushed or pushed into anything. I was so fortunate. These stories and rates of up to 96% c-sections scare me. Regulation is necessary here.
In Hyderabad, to avoid unnecessary C-Sessions the government mandated the same bill for C-Session or Normal delivery.

Both pregnancies, ages 27 and 35, first at a public hospital 🇿🇦, second time with a gynae at a private hospital, I was told I would have to have a Csection. I gave birth naturally to both my babies, without forceps. No complications, both my kids were fine. Doctors cannot be trusted, sadly.

I am a proud Indian but I am ashamed to admit that I am grateful for having 1 miscarriage and 2 deliveries done in the US. My 1st pregnancy was only 7 weeks long. Then the heartbeat of the fetus stopped. I cried for so long, being away from family and my 1st pregnancy was so hard. My doctor said now you just wait until your period comes. Your body will figure out that something foreign is inside and naturally remove it. Everyone from India said that I need to have fetus removed surgically. Because that's what they do in India.
Then my 1st delivery had all the reasons they give in India for emergency C-section. My water broke at 4 in the morning and I delivered my son at 10 at night. No one mentioned C-section until the end when the doctor is required to mention it. The cord was wrapped around my baby's neck. My baby was moving very slowly so in the end they used the suction but no C-section.

I had 2 deliveries in private hospital in Mumbai Ghatkopar, 1 in 2011 and 2nd in 2018, in both of deliveries there was no labour pain. Thanks to Dr Samir Joshi because, still he made my both deliveries as normal delivery. He is God for me because in last days of pregnancy, (exhausted period of pregnacy), i used to go to dr and ask, kabhi karne ka delivery, Dr. will be like abhi time hai madam, ghar pe jao aaram karo, kaho , pivo , labour ayega tab aana, y to waste time in cutting and all,, seriously awesome dr..

Throughout my pregnancy I was told I had so many complications and normal delivery wasn't possible. Consulted 3-4 hospital and on the delivery day, went to a government hospital. After 6 tiresome and painful hours, had a normal vaginal birth. Everyone was shocked bcs ppl had told me to get a c-section bcs it's easier and less painful. And wasn't expecting dat i wud bear labour pains and opt for a c-section

Everyone I know delivered through the c section. I barely hear normal delivery nowadays... This was so needed, I wished this information was available in the past. But never too late for women of the future.
When I was pregnant with my first baby in 2007 I was living in Malaysia. And whoever I met back then, said they all had C section for baby delivery (expats and foreigners), I was shocked then number of C section given in my circle. I suspected Malaysian doctors do it for money. For my baby delivery I decided to go back to my homecountry where doctors do not do unnecessary surgeries. Delivered naturally a healthy baby boy, now he’s graduating from his O levels. Thank God I made that decision back then
The guy who lost both his wife and child must have gone through immense pain, It was visible from his expression. He is like a changed person. Such experience can alter ones life completely. Hope that no one has to go through such experience.
I'm an Indian woman. And I'm so lucky that my doctor who took care of my pregnancy was someone who vouched for natural birthing. The baby was a week late, she still didn't induce me.

This is sadly not just in India :( inducement and c sections have become so normal in Australia and the U.S. I am due in 2 weeks and plan to go naturally and allow my endorphins and hormones to act as natural pain relief. My body is not a lemon! It was made to birth children and I am proud of that.
You say my body is made for it. Thats not true. We need all the type of sergeries and drugs to live.
Unfortunately sometimes we do need surgeries and medication. However, the norm shouldn't be to jump to c sections in healthy women during pregnancy and labour. There needs to be a better balance as can be seen from this video. And I intend to try and be as natural as possible because women's bodies are actually designed to birth children. That is my decision. If I need an emergency medication or surgery for my baby then of course I would consider it. But c section and inducement are my final options...not part of my first.

Not sure if anyone else in the comment section has mentioned this , but there was a Kollywood movie released in 2017 involving this same topic as the main issue. It's called Mersal (and it starred a really successful actor so it was super popular back then) and one of the protoganists in a victim to an unnecessary c-section . I'm not sure if the movie really raised social awareness since it also talked about other medical malpractices but it really opened my eyes to medicine in India.

I remember the time my child was born. The doctor was discouraging my wife saying that you will not be able to bear the pain of normal delivery. She basically motivated her to have c section without any medical emergency

Yes in India, certain hospitals (most of them in fact) push unnecessarily for cesareans. It's often not the doctors' fault but the management of those hospitals who forces its doctors to reach a certain yearly turnover. Appalling.
In Mumbai, I had found a fabulous gynecologist who resigned from one of those big hospitals for these same ethical reasons (she is now practicing in Dubai).
But she told me about something really interesting though. She worked for some time in the UK. She was telling me that there, because of the pressure of the medical insurance, doctors can tell by experience in some cases that the mother's pelvis for ex. is much too narrow for the size of the baby and that an emergency cesarean will be ultimately needed, but they have to let the woman go through hours of exhausting natural labour until the emergency cesarean occurs as a matter of life or death, because the pelvic measurements and parameters accepted by the insurance to justify a cesarean were not fully met, only borderline.
I have also had certain procedures done abroad (in Switzerland) without anesthetia (horribly painful, I am still traumatized). I told this to some doctors here in India who opened big eyes, wondering how the hell doctors in Switzerland could have done that to me without anesthetia. Again, insurance coverage issues.
So to say that the other side of the world also has its issues.

It's surprising doctors would actually go through with procedures without anaesthesia even with insurance issues.
@@QueenGurmehar yes, not like a whole surgery, but like a colonoscopy for example, or like a lumbar puncture (spinal tap). These procedures can be somehow bearable for some, maybe many patients, but will give excruciating pain to many others too. Since some patients can bear these without too much "drama", these are considered as "non painful" procedures.
You won't believe how many women and men don't want so experience or witness the long hours of suffering ( even if it's a normal case) and just want a c-section instead.

I had pre eclampsia and thank God for my c section or we may both have not survived. Blood pressure 210 over 120, fits, baby was posterior and in distress, tried to insert epidural 3 times as my spine is out and i didnt know till then, I did 12 hrs of normal labour after total induction baby was 35 weeks born at 4lb 6oz. This year she will be 30 yrs old 😊 my second child was also c section even though my pregnancy for him was perfect he was a twin, I lost it in the first weeks but he survived. This year he is 25 😊 I would always prefer a c section to forceps.
As a doctor myself. I have seen many labour but this becoming more popular because of doctor and if you are not ignoring the fact that most of India are not very well educated about medicine procedures and this make the procedure more lucrative and what not❤❤😢
Episiotomy which has become a standard procedure for vaginal delivery in India also needs to be spoken about. In most cases natural tearing is enough for baby to come out. But the cut is made no matter if it necessary or not.
Sometimes, the natural tearing may cause too much damage. Episiotomy is a controlled procedure so that major structures are not damaged, though, I agree, it is not a standard procedure.
Latest guidelines states that routine episotomy is NOT indicated.
Only in certain cases involving assisted manoeuvres and increased duration of second stage labour with large head etc require mediolateral episotomy

I am another victim of this (from Kerala). This happened in a well renowned hospital for gynec and pediatrics, The Lifeline maternity hospital. I was induced at 38 weeks and finally they performed c section after suffering lots of pain for hours. Later I analysed that more than 70% of deliveries are c sections here. This is not only about this particular hospital, but with most of the private hospitals in Kerala.

I had a c section in Australia from medical negligence. I had an epidural. I fell asleep, they were meant to put me under observation for 30 mins before giving the hormone to keep labour going. No one came in for 8 hours until I woke up and started panicking and they all rushed in. My mother was supposed to be my support but she is medically illiterate and couldn’t understand that it was a medical emergency and never attempted to get any help believing I needed sleep. It was very traumatic. I’m still devastated.
If your medical team or staff are very neglecting then it’s a horrific experience either way no matter if it’s a natural delivery or C section. The amount of traumatizing birth stories I’ve heard from both sides is just insane to be honest. Society always glamorizes the concept of conceiving and childbirth, yet will neglect the mother way too many times.
Nobody gives epidural before the labour pain starts! What all crap are you spewing? You should have stayed at home and delivered if you think normal delivery was possible
@@Blue-lq8xf I had been in labour for 17 hours by then. Where on earth did I say they gave it immediately. They put me under observation before delivering syntocinon because I reacted to the anaesthetic.

These private hospital doctors and nurses would do anything they can to prolong your stay in their facility. I have experienced their greed first hand and on multiple occasions. I dont trust doctors. For any non-Indians wondering why govt/public hospitals are not an option for some of us, it's because they're generally very poorly mantained with gutka stains everywhere and lack of proper management at these places. For most people who grow up in middle-class households, public hospitals are almost never a considered option sadly.
