    After 46 years of driving around 25,000 miles a year I’ve learned none of these idiots are worth it. I would have cursed under my breath when he pulled out, and smugly reminded myself how much better I am at driving than him. I never flash headlights or sound horn in these situations. I’ve found it keeps me calm, is much better for my blood pressure, and avoids incidents likely to lead to road rage and me breaking the law as you did!

      Well put - no bozo is worth your time of the day. If you have a job to go to and a home to come back to - none of these bozos will ever enter into my mind and my conscience. Quite rightly said - you went around the roundabout and a junction the wrong way and incriminated yourself - and if the law saw this video and caught up with you - you would be in for a min of £60 fine and 3 penalty points for each offence. Not worth it my friend - be cool - let them cut you up - swallow hard and go your way in peace.

      @@wulfhere83 The thinking is thus : If you are a busy man with work to go to and a home to come back to - you don’t have time for bozos. You got in your car to go somewhere and do something - not get a bozo picking punches at you. As mentioned by many on the subject - life is too short to get involved with the love. If for instance some maniac is coming down the path with a machete - you might as well cross the road and walk on the other side of the pavement. No need to get yourself beheaded because you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Having been chased and asked for a fight myself I sympathise, although I have learned these days that it is not worth the risk of someone carrying a knife or something worse, so I just bite my tongue and smile when I (regularly) see shit driving that pisses me off. I've learned that any flash of the lights or honk on the horn can set off a psycho - it's just not worth it, especially if you have a family who depend on you. Annoying to let people get away with bad driving, but at the end of the day it's better than getting you and/or your motor damaged for the sake of giving someone the finger or a flash of the lights

      Grrrr, I do agree with you all, but then we’re letting these halfwits get away with bad driving un-contested. One day their luck will run out and they’ll be in a smash. I guess dashcam and sending the footage to police is an option, but what would they do? Nothing probably, sadly.

    • @scottthornton5948
      @scottthornton5948 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree, the worst thing you can do is to antagonize an already unhinged driver. To 'give chase' or as this driver did at the start of the video 'keep tabs' with the BMW was silly, they were exceeding the speed limit and in following and keeping up you put yourself and others at risk. Just let them go, they'll make a mistake by themselves without your help but you can report them and give the footage as evidence, as it is this footage show that you effectively taunted them and it wasn't long before their fuse blew and they decided they'd follow you.
      Far easier to just back of than risk your own footage being used against you.

    • @dingbat19
      @dingbat19 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      The sad reality is that there are some real psychos out there driving who would think nothing of stabbing you and leaving you to bleed out on the side of the road if you do nothing more than flash them honk the horn at them. It's just not worth it in my book, as I said, and it would be downright irresponsible of me, as the father of two young kids, to be a vigilante in these situations. Maybe it took me until my 40s to realise this, and I admit when I was in my 20s I might have been more up for a tussle, but older and maybe just a bit wiser, I think differently now. I've seen what losing a parent does to young kids and it just aint worth it. And this is coming from someone who served and is trained in hand-to-hand combat BTW. I still wouldn't take the risk.

    I had a very similar series of events just a few weeks ago , was chased for about 4 miles by the driver of a white van , after I came round a bend on a narrow country road to be confronted by him and another car parked , gave a toot before passing and that set him off . On coming into a built up area I slowed to 30mph because of pedestrians and cyclists , was passed and like your guy , this one stopped in middle of road and when I went past he kicked my car , then pursued for another mile or so before turning off . I returned to find he had resumed his clandestine meeting with the same car .
    I called the police to report it as a road rage incident , an officer came round later to view my front & rear dash cam footage - outcome he is being charged with RTA S2 dangerous driving . Can't say much more as has not yet been to court . Nor can I publish my footage before then .

Regardless of the motor the person is driving I always liked to keep an idiot in front of me. I had a promise to myself that if an idiot came to grief in front of me I would not stop to help them. If it was a genuine accident I would help. If it was a complete prat behind the wheel I would not.

    Oh yeah, as well. Like many CAM drivers, you speed up when you deem that someone else has done wrong, for a bit of drama. Maybe he was being aggressive pulling out like that, but maybe he'd been stuck there for ages. It wasn't dangerous, and you would only ever have rear-ended him if you weren't looking, so he threw the responsibility to slow down onto you - he only delayed you reaching the end of a row of cars by 1 second. I'd have just let him merge in.

    • @bigsteve1894

      Yeah thank god someone pointed it out.
      Yeah, the guy in the beemer was clearly an unemployed knob with temper issues coupled with a few screws loose in his head. But in the case of where the merge started, the Beemer was already half way past the merge. If the self righteous cammer slowed down instead of speeding up a bit (Which was Stupid), the beemer could’ve just merged in happily. Also it dosent help that the cammer also Beeped and flashed the beemer which obviously caused the drama in the first place, knowing the cammer should’ve have anticipated the car coming in at first and slowed down.

    As a class 1 driver I examined the footage carefully. In this day and age we need only use the horn or lights to warn other road users that you are approaching and not as a rebuke. Clearly here the hazard was seen well in advance, giving time to brake as it was clear that this driver was about to emerge. To flash and use the horn afterwards, is a rebuke and can only do to anger the driver. Hopefully this will be a lesson to you for future driving experiences.

    • @bingola45
      @bingola45 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The first opportunity I turned right to get rid of them and they couldn't follow me. I waited about a minute a 100 yards from the turning and then drove back onto the road they were on. I could see there were now about 8 cars ahead of me and they suddenly turned right off the road, I think to try and find me. I went past the turning and never saw them again. Best advice is to turn off and try and lose them. Doubling back behind them worked for me.

Consider reporting that.. even if it turns out it wasn't a knife later, the fact you thought it was could be enough"?" You understandably panicked.. The mind can play tricks on us all when under extreme duress etc.. Then if, or when police search it's vehicle who knows what they will find...knife, gun, drugs, illegally on the road whatever..?
    Option 2: Couldn't you of stayed in town and pull up somewhere causing the most attention possible and blocking the road.....plenty of witnesses (shoppers about) and or maybe even police around or someone will call them.. ?
    Option 3: Go to them.. drive to nearest police station.. it takes the wind right out of their ego sails.. usually..
    Option 4: If it is driving behind you really close, brake.. hitting your car from that distance (really near) won't cause any major damage and it may be enough to blip it back down to reality? Probably on drugs to be carrying it on this much? Just a few options...I would try 2, then 3 or 4 and 1 if no other choice.. 5 as a last resort.. it's about a month or two at most from prison I reckon.. if this clip is genuine? A lot of losers around (these days especially) trying anything to get back inside.. (Prisons I mean.)
    Option 5: Wait for them to strike first (if you got an independent witness there (pedestrian etc) then baseball bat comes out.. claret (blood) and aspirin city please nurse.. Oh Matron!!
    What an utter cock Womble (Mr BMW) .. I lost patience with it much nearer the beginning of the video...
    If you cannot handle yourself then maybe consider signing up for self defence classes for confidence?
    These type of incidents will probably only increase and that Khan prat is decimating police numbers and claims to be rolling out the welcome mate for millions more of his primitive chums / bums..
    I always try to calm a situation down first and see if they are willing to talk and reason it out.. With this one it was probably very cheesed off that every time it threw rocks at the moon it missed and it's forehead wasn't keeping all it's face dry?

    I suggest you take the Institute of Motorists Advanced Driving Test. As part of the pre-test instruction, you would be advised not to honk your horn or flash your lights unless it was to warn other road users of your presence (i.e. never to 'tell someone off'). And as far as 'not letting him overtake' by driving all over the road, not only would that fail you on the test, it is probably illegal too. Calm down, drive gently, and when you see other drivers 'doing wrong' (pulling out of sideroads without much thought), simply shrug your shoulders, ease off the throttle, and smile. Too much tension, my friend, not good for you.

    You don't just drive blithely along a road, you anticipate what other motorists are doing, or might do, and make the necessary allowances/adjustments.

    I pulled out on a roundabout once, I do make errors and I allow others to make them. The guy from the right accelerated so hard to try and get close instead of slowing down. I had a good car and easily made it, he nearly hit the kerb as he was trying so hard to just to miss me and make something of it. People seem to like agro? Happens when you overtake or pull out on junctions people try and accelerate so they can flash, beep and make hand gestures.

    I've only has a similar thing happen once on the motorway, guy raging at me (can't remember why or who's fault) then about 5 minutes after it had ended I happened to drive into the same services he had gone to to fuel up he clocked me but didn't look twice once we were both in striking distance. I always remember that now when I feel myself getting wound up just needs a set of lights or standing traffic and you could be sat right next to each other dangerous at worst highly embarrassing at best😄

    It's amazing how these nut cases are always in a rgeat hurry until they start brake checking and chasing people around so they suddenly have lots of time they didn't have before.
    get brush bars or nudge bars on your car. When they race past and stop in front of you so they can get out and have go, lock your doors, ease up to their car and pour on the power to push their car away in front of you. They'll soon get the message they need to get into their car before you wear out the brake pads on them or their car gets pushed out of the way.

      It's hard to outrun anything but a pedestrian with a broken leg if you stay within the speed limit in an urban area.
      However, it's interesting how the BMW driver was in a hurry until he got angry, then he had all the time in the world.

    • @leylandlynxvlog

    From that footage all I can see is the dash cam driver driving down the middle of the road swerving in and out, taking junctions on the wrong side, running along a pavement with a pedestrian near by, Going round a roundabout the wrong way ie doing a u turn on it. Yes he did try and cut you up at a junction but by then it could be said by a half decent lawyer that your driving drove him to it. And there's no excuse for that sound track whatsoever.

    I feel for you. Glad you came out of it physically unscathed. Same thing happened to me in NYC area, on a Saturday or Sunday late morning, it was a long clear open stretch of country road He was in a canvas covered Suzuki type jeep doing about 20 in a 30, don’t think there was any over taking gaps on road but well in advance I signalled to let him know of my intention to pass. As I came along side him me on the opposite lane he yanked the swerved the jeep at me and also was hanging out of the open door for the next 40 minutes it was just like your video I blocked him from getting in front going through a large town and then when I got on to a major interstate Hiway he was trying to run me into ditch the only thing I could do was get right behind some poor woman who was up ahead of me and cling to her rear bumper to stop him getting at me , I scoured see her face in her rear view mirror he kept swerving at me The woman slowed down and of course I had to as well, all of the traffic was staying well back from the obviously dangerous situation, I made sure I never looked in his direction ( no eye contact). But he didn’t give up, I had to switch lanes to enter Connecticut ann n d had to break away from the cover of the lady in front…….. to be continued .

    A good driver would’ve seen he was waiting to pull out, anticipated it, slowed down and hey maybe even been curtious and let them out rather than speeding up once you realise he’s coming across and start flashing/honking the horn giving it the big I am.
    He shouldn’t have retaliated and followed but you swerving all over the road and mounting pavements is by no means any less unnecessary and dangerous than anything the other driver did.
    Ever heard the saying people that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones? Maybe take heed next time.
