- Here’s my take on the 1966 classic “Sunny” by Bobby Hebb. This has to be one of the most covered songs of all time, and that’s because it’s such a GREAT tune!
Big thanks to my very first virtual student Konrad in Germany for inspiring me to record this one today. Email me at chrishazeltonmusic@gmail.com to inquire about private virtual Hammond Organ lessons.

Hey Chris, also wanted to give you a shoutout for today's lesson. Really appreciated your insights and energy. Recognize a lot of things in this video that we were discussing today. See you soon!
Chris , tu me rappel, rhoda scott de mon enfance 😮wouah! Quel groove!!🙂😍😍😍😍👍❤
I was picking this one out on my hammond-clone vst midi thingy the other day for fun. After hearing you rock this quite righteously, I am duct taping my fingers together and never playing a keyboard instrument again, LOL.
I felt the same way when I heard the Jack McDuff recording of it. Or the video of Joey D playing it with Pat Martino. But don’t give up!!
Beautiful chilled track - love it!
Absolutely killer as always! Perfect video for lick-stealing thievery (just kiddin'!) - Great post!
Wonderful
Great!
Nice Martino Defrancesco shout out! Saw them do it live at Kuumbwa Jazz in Santa Cruz years back, great stuff!
Mike Reed would approve!
Great left hand bass groove!
Great played, thanks 👌👍
So nice !!! 😊
Damn man, that groove, I'm gonna steal this version. You are so amazing bro.
beautiful!
Excellent performance!!!! Love playing that song!!! I need to plug the A-100 in again!!!! (Probably should oil it first...) I miss my Hammond...
I mean, the XK3C is great, but the A-100... If only I owned a Leslie...
Black and White Keys are Cool❤
Wupti - lovely stretch in the right hand for the latin intro - spanning g to a works but the g to f# transition will keeping a gets me out 🤪
Love it! How are the drum like sounds produced?
Thank you! What you’re hearing is just my accents on the pedals as well as some key noise.
Nicely done version...BUT: a good illustration as to why it's so much better to master the pedalboard which essentially gives you an extra hand.
I play all pedal bass when playing gospel and ballads, but it’s too cumbersome for jazz, funk, etc. Those styles need a little more finesse in the feel!
@@ChrisHazeltonB3 I've found that using a heel/toe technique with the left foot you can put down a pretty good bass line. I find playing left-hand bass too confining, particularly when you want to change registrations. This is NOT a criticism of your playing--sounds great!
Great job.
do you have sheet music for this song?
Thanks! This was improvised, but there are lead sheets for the tune that are easy to find.
do you have an album, I need to DJ this!!!!
I have several! Go to chrishazeltonsboogaloo7.bandcamp.com for the funky stuff!
@@ChrisHazeltonB3 Hell yeah! I'll check them out, thanks!
