      +Daina Zhou Perhaps a video on that in the future. But my main tip is this. Do not use so many colours to mix the colour you need. I usually use 3 primary colours plus 2 others.

    You must be a very dilligent person to have a full time job, do videos and be such a fantastic artist. Thank you for sharing your time with others and making these videos. I appreciate seeing your art quite a bit. I started drawing a lot because of seeing your sketches and wanting to improve.

    Thanks for this video Teoh. As always I find your videos extremely educational. I love your sketchers, both black and white (ink only) and watercolor. I have learned a lot by studying your sketches. You are one of my sketching heros! Thanks!!!!

    I draw every evening. I am now copying all the drawings in Burne Hogarth's, "Dynamic Anatomy". My husband and I put something on the monitor that is very stupid from Netflicks and we half-watch and half-listen as we work on our art projects. ( He is a photographer.) I have been doing this for about a year. The improvement in my figure drawing skills has been enormous. I can see the progress from looking at my old sketchbooks.

    I draw everyday . soon in feb. I will have posted a drawing everyday for a year on instagram . some days are harder than others to find time but I work a full time job and it is very fullfilling to look back and know that I devoted time for something creative. It also helps to see your progress like you said. . Your videos are great. Thank you for all your effort.

    An impressive and inspiring body of work for just one year. Well done! Looking forward to the upcoming year. As for my own "schedule," my latest blog entry was about transitioning from being a night owl into a morning bird and how I now go to bed earlier, so I can get up earlier and spend time drawing before work. This was a very unique video and I'm grateful that you put it together. Thank you and cheers! :)

    I love your sketchbook tours, love the colors and the urban scenes. I'm surprised that you can manage to draw this much while you have a full time job. That is so inspiring. I have always give myself excuses that I'm working and going to school so no time for drawing. But it is so true, keep doing it and you will get better. Going to try 1 - 2 hour per week strategy to fill out my sketchbook. Thank you for the video!

    Again a great video and presentation. You asked about when we sketch and how often. To make sure that I do sketch I have it ready to go. Happy New Year Teoh. These are really wonderful! It's such a treat to see them - thank you very much for sharing them with us! I've also found that regular practice makes a huge difference. ..I'm lucky to have retired last year, so I'm able to go out much more often. It's deep winter here in Nova Scotia, but I'm finding it is still possible to bundle up and sketch from my car.

    The accordion one is a great idea, love that you've filled it up with colour. I would love a hot pressed paper sketch book too. And of course your sketches are so beautiful, ever thought of framing a few? As a full time worker and a single mom, I have to make time to sketch something out, either during a lunch break or squeezing something in after work. Usually I fall to my iPad, but am really trying to get back to paper.

    Teoh, I am very much enjoying your videos. I am learning a lot from you, so thank you for that! I've seen you use and talk about the many inks and pens you use with impressive results. I heard an artist on a video say that if she were working in her studio, she would use a dip pen in place of the one she was using at the time. Dip pens don't offer the convenience of many pens on the market. Is there any particular benefit to using a dip pen? Thank you, Marlene

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Marlene Kluper You can use pigmented ink with dip pens. Such inks are not suitable for fountain pens because they might clog. Dip pens can also produce thin and thick lines, something that's not easy to achieve with modern fountain pens.

    • @ElectricSpaceMonkey
      @ElectricSpaceMonkey 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marlene Kluper dip pens provide better line variety and are also cheaper than buy fountain pens or disposable since you just buy nibs. Dip pens are beautiful but challenging to master
