    Thanks for sharing! I started with the smallest one, pocket size of moleskine and love it. It took less time to finish. A5's also my favorite because i can use more watercolor on it ^^

      +narasiri arthachinda I prefer A4, but I have only just started in watercolour so my opinion will change :)

    Your videos and sketches inspired me to get a sketchbook that I could carry around with me. Bought one today. Thanks for inspiration. I like your style of sketching and how you use watercolors. I have been doodling mostly, but always wanted to try out sketching. All the best!

    My favorite size is A5, it's not too small and not too big :).

    Amazing sketchbooks!!! I love the looseness in your sketches! I'd love to see your approach on Watercolor pencils.

      +Dexter Morris I find watercolour pencils difficult to use. But it should be fun. I've some that I haven't use yet.

    what a very interesting video. Thank you so much for kindly sharing your experience with sketchbooks. I have never had a large one, so now I can think about those differences you pointed out before I plunk down my dime. Be well. Bye now

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the different size sketch books. Do you sketch on location? Or partial sketch and finish later in different location? I enjoyed seeing your sketches from your trips! You are very talented. What are your favorite tools/supplies you take on a sketch trip?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tiffany Asbury All those sketchbooks are my location drawing sketchbooks. I try to finish everything on location, such as lines and colouring, because I will be too lazy to colour them at home. I usually draw with pen, ink and watercolour. I'll make another video for my sketching tools in the future because they always change.
      If you are interested in watercolour, there's a video called "How to choose a new portable watercolor set for beginners" on my TH-cam channel.

    Love your videos! Very informative and helpful to an amateur like me. Just learning to draw and watercolor but need much improvement. Any suggestions on how to improve my drawing skills so it doesn't look like a child drew it? Thanks!

      +Paige Pittman Without seeing your work, the only thing I can suggest is paying attention to proportion. It's usually the lack of proportion that makes a drawing look weird. Focus on where you start and end your lines next time. Every point is in relation to each other, in terms of distance and angle. Think of that relationship. E.g. Nose is BETWEEN the eyes, eyes are VERTICALLY CENTRED in the head, BOTTOM of nose is ALIGNED to BOTTOM of EAR. All the uppercase words are location/relationship keywords, and they depend on where you're looking from when you're drawing. You may want to get the book called 'Keys to Drawing' to get started. There's a review of the book on my blog.

    Your sketches are beautiful! What paoer weight do you suggest when looking for a journal?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Brooke Boatwright Thanks. Short answer is to get at least 200gsm paper for watercolour. Long answer is to watch the 45 minute video I have here (☞゚∀゚)☞ th-cam.com/video/yvWiyf2GJrc/w-d-xo.html

    it's veeery cool, Teoh! Your sketchbooks are real trip albums!
    I'd like to ask you if you don't mind, of course... what's the brand of the sketchbooks you use? I mean the brand of album-like sketchbooks.
    I can't really find this type of sketchbook over my city. =/
    And the second question is what's the least density of sheets you use to apply watercolour?
    Thanks beforehand!
