- Imperial Class Star Destroyers have a crew of 37,000 Navy personnel with an additional garrisoned legion of 9700 stormtroopers, they are one of the most difficult ships to board and capture. Today we're going to look at a few strategies on how one could approach taking down a star destroyer.

If the CIS (the Expanded Universe version) had not been puppeted by Palpatine and actually took warfare and technology research seriously could their military have been as big as the Imperium Of Man's in size and numbers not exactly in power just in numbers?
Since the EU version going by the wiki the CIS navy had about a million capital ships when they were even being nerfed constantly by Palpatine.
Well, without Palpatine influence, the CIS wouldn't even exist in the first place as a faction, the CIS was part of Palpatine's plan to gain enough power to turn the Republic into his Empire, and once the Clone Wars finish, it otterly destroyed his droid puppet, so basically, without Palpatine, the CIS wouldn't be a faction at all, nor they will have an army or navy THAT big
According to what I know from the Republic Commando trilogy, that is probably numbers from Republic Intelligence. Which is known to be very often wrong by a large margin. It is also said they had, what, a quadrillion battle droids? It is known that number was inflated by Palpatine. No, any force that could muster either of those numbers would wipe out the Republic.

How to capture an ISD: Make it go boom. Then pick up all the pieces. You have now captured an ISD.
There is only one way to do that and it is also the answer why New Republic did have them. BETRAYAL! It was extremely hard to do that considering number of different people on board including whole unit of secret police. But it did happen from time to time, like for example in case of Captain Doza. Also when after battle of Endor supply lines of empire collapsed, many Star Destroyers were at least partially abandoned. Making them easier for capture.
Then you can reassemble it like LEGO

-The hiigarans boarding crew is well trained and efficient at seizing any type or category of ship.
-The Vaygr trust in overwhelming and overunning the defenders with mass. The absence of a retreat options make the boarding crew extremly motivated !
Basically, what I'm saying is : they're in space : if their ship get boarded, they literaly have nowhere to go ! Soooo, yeah ! You don't board a Star Destroyer, and expect an easy fight...
Tight corridors. Long hallways. No cover from gunfire or anything. And blasters with hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Oh boy.

First do a ion bomb run in the star destroyer, disabling it.
Then have dropship transport deploy a strike team outside the bridge. Breach the bridge and have most if not all of the command crew spaced. Cease the bridge and wait for systems to come back online.
Have larger strike team, closer to an actual army in strength land in the main hangar and another strike team breach near the reactor.
Have the bridge team lockdown areas where the crew is concentrated, maybe cut life support to suffocate anyone not in EVA gear. Have the assault force push through and clear the not locked down areas and seizing key points.
After that clear locked down areas one by one. Cutting the large security force into more manageable numbers.
Keep bringing in reinforcements.
Hope to god/force/mythical space abomination that Vader isn't doing an inspection on that ship.
Make sure the assault team is running heavy with thermal detonators and concussion grenades. Have hand held blast shields. And if possible bring destroyer droids/ droideka's. Those things make Jedi think twice.
Also, release buzz droids into the air ducts.

What if they're forced conscripts of the First Odor (oops, I meant Order) and two thirds of them don't want to fight for the First Odor (oops, I did it again [and no, I'm not Britney Spears])? That might make taking over a Star Destroyer much easier!
Boarding and capturing one is easy. I've actually thought about this before. All you need is a small team, maybe even 3 man teams. 3 take the bridge, and 3 head to the engine room. Kill everyone in both, possibly by flooding toxic gases into both areas, and use breathers for your team so as to filter out the toxins. And boom, you have an entire star destroyer. Damned brutal way of doing it, killing all those people, but if you wanted to do it on an extremely effective level, with minimal man power, that's how i think it'd be done. Having control of the bridge and engine room essentially give you control of the ship.
How to get on the ship is simple. Commandeer a shuttlecraft and the proper codes to land within the destroyer. It'd mirror the death star 2 operation actually. But in this case, they'd likely, if they were going for sheer effeiceny, kill everyone aboard via the same gasses. However, maybe if they could, they'd just kill essential personnel, and block all imperial communication. (They'd kil the essential personnel by using the gas as before. Just this time they don't have to use it on the whole crew. Depends on what they're going for.)
Best have highly trained three man teams just in case

I'd think you're best bet is stealing them out of ship yards or fresh out of the yards. If its anything like subs, when a new ship is ready to go crew Training and certification is the first thing that happens while also testing the new systems . Means while out on trial you will have a inexperienced skeleton crew testing out ship systems the may or may not work. This would be when the vessel is at it's most vulnerable.
If you cant gas them, vac them. The bridge boarding team can probably vent all the atmo in the hallways as needed.
Finally I can get rid of that pesky Star Destroyer that's been bombarding me for weeks.
You missed the Accuser. Immediately after the battle of Endor, Han Solo and his commando team used the Tyderium to board the Accuser, dressed up as an officer and storm trooper escort, relieved the captain and tricked the crew into abandoning the ship.
Hey just curious but does anyone think that Earth's many armies could bring any game changers to the table in either the Clone or Civil war in the ways of tactics?
One possibility, that would get you demonetized if you mentioned it.
*Biowarfare:* the entire ships crew is (usually) human, one species. That makes them vulnerable to a targeted pathogen.
In an alien region, a very infectious agent (that has a long enough incubation period ect) could be introduced into a ISD and devastate the crew, without risk to the local species.
An assault group made up of Aliens could then have a much easier time of it, and if pretending to be local medics could even get onboard and in position without any drama.
Of course if the ship is to be used by the general Rebellion afterwards, it'll need a thorough cleaning with bleach, and maybe UV wands.
But if the Aliens take it for themselves, just removing the bodies and washing down the decks should be enough.
Still an species with advanced Biotech, like the Kimoans, might decide that the Empire and Humans in general are just such a hassle for other species that they decide to do a final solution in the form of a genocidal plague.

How powerful are Federation weapons Post Dominion war since they had been heavily upgraded in destructive capacity during the war?
Are they in the hundreds of teratons range of power since even before the war they were significantly more advanced then the Cardassians were and the Cardassians along with the Romulans with a fleet of 20 ships were able to heavily damage the Founders' homeworld in the first barrage of attacks so is that a good reason to believe Federation weaponry is around that level of power Post Dominion war?

Imagine the rebels take control of a sort of like zoology ship that is carrying some of the most deadly alien creatures to roam the galaxy, I mean the rebels would probably never do this because the plan isn’t really grounded in reality it’s more of just an excuse to have a pack of rathtars those things from TFA sweeping through an ISD corridor
If they ever make a new old republic game (or in any new story-driven Star Wars games) there needs to be a mission where you’re with a crew of pirates who try to steal a cruiser

Cool. Yet I would prefer this way: 1. First find hackers upload any extremely hard to delete computer viruses to turn the Star Destroyer into a floating hunk of junk plus no way to contact support. 2. Next use special space drones that can filled the whole ship with VX gas to kill almost everyone onboard. 3. Then when extremely few are alive, control the Star Destroyer to get rid of the gas out at breathable level. 4. After that send in a Division of soldiers to check is there anyone who survived the gas attack, if there are kill them all. 5. Finally, getting rid of the bodies and control the ship to be used by the Sol 3 Resistance.

An additional strategy? Head straight for Life support and insert poison gas or sleeping gas into the vents. Most of the crew instantly killed/anestitized.

Just get an Astromech to plug in and take control of the ship. From there you can take control of it's systems, bottle up hostile reinforcements, jump it to friendly space, ect.
If you know how the life support systems work, hacking those you could kill most of the crew in a matter of hours if they don't surrender.
My Strategy would be to capture the bridge‘ open all doors to the outside and flush all troops out like this

I once stole an Victory class Star Destroyer, it was pretty esay since it was left in the middle of one of the most soft protected parts of KDY, and since I was at the lead of a Commando group, it was easy to aboard the vessel and take it from Imperial hands, unfortunately, we have to auto-destroyed while we were retreating from an ambush led by Thrawn himself, but atleast it went out with a fight :)

I believe, according to the Complete Locations book that has TFA locations in it, the ISD that Rey is actually inside of in the beginning of TFA is the Interrogator but the one she drove in front of was the Inflictor.

Can you do a video on new weapons that capital ships could/should use?? Instead of turbo lasers, ships could use Self Propelled Heavy Artillery cannons. So this venator for ex could replace the 6 heavy turbo lasers they have and put 4 SPHA’s on the ship for ex. Or a Imperial could have 16 SPHA’s. It’s a hypothetical thing that could be better than turbo lasers based off how powerful they are in The movies. And in the shows and movies, ships only fire like 3 turbo lasers ever at a time it looks like so might as well have a powerful gun. The SPHA could just be modified that it sits in the shit obviously and then the gun just rotates on top. And it has its own power source so it doesn’t really take power from the ship. Increasing the ships shield or thruster or power for other things too.... I think it would be an amazing thought and video to discuss? Something new that no one talks about!!!

Hey Allen, Im confused with the whole Battle of Jakku. The Aftermath series says the Imperials were above atmosphere in a ball surrounding a SSD, but in Battlefront 2s campaign and the novel with Cienna Ree "Lost Stars" it isn't like that. can you do a video on The Battle of Jakku pleas?
There are many videos regarding the Battle of Jakku. From my understanding, after the Ravager (the Super Star Destroyer) had fallen, it was every captain for him/herself. Apparently some captains had fought on for months after the peace treaty between Mas Ameda and Mon Mothma had been signed.
NEXT UP; how to board the Battlestar Galactica! THEY DO IT IN THE SHOW and it damn near worked.

Just walk through the front door, your natural plot armor combined with the idiocy of the Imperial officers will make stealing a Star Destroyer a snap.
The Expanse did the taking of a spacecraft facing a numerically and technologically superior foe pretty well, The Donnager was forced to self-destruct despite the attackers only numbering a few dozen versus thousands of crew members and many more than their number in martian marines because they isolated virtually the entire crew via battle damage and only fought those who were defending key objectives. Granted they all blew up in the end but those mother-fuckers were cutting their way through the door to the command centre when they exploded despite the odds.
Fun activites to do during isolation!

Best way is to probably figure out a way to cut off the oxygen supply in the star destroyer, hopefully most of the imperials on the star destroyer would probably of suffocated or evacuated, meaning it’s easy enough to send a few squads in to take the ship.
I think the CIS could bord an ISD fairly easy. I mean they did have bording parties.

Here’s how you capture a Star Destroyer, you do what Han did in ESB and lock your ship onto the back of the bridge tower, only you do it with your ship full of Commandos who are trained to space walk, you then space walk over to the bridge windows and attach a few Thermal Detonators to the windows, once detonated the bridge will be cleared of life, once cleared you then load in a few men trained to handle a ship and space walk along with a couple of droids good at hacking into the now empty bridge and they vent the atmosphere from the entire ship, all you need to do then is wait for those who were fast enough to get to emergency air to run out and boom, you’ve got a Star Destroyer.

The hallway tank: some sort of heavily armoured small speeder you can run down the hallway. Or droidekas. Set them loose.
Can you do a video based on what Yoda had learned in the lost missions season of Clone Wars if he could have stopped Order 66 or if he just allowed the Jedi to be destroyed. Don't destroy the bridge, take control of it, seal it, open all doors on the rest of the ship, then shut down all shields, including the ones that keep the atmosphere from venting into space. Anyone who isn't killed by the sudden depressurisation will still be blasted out of the ship with all the air.

what if you used buzz droids to disable the life support systems and the shields then jump in some Droch- class boarding ships to take care of the bridge and reactor so the Captain cant press the self destruct then open all the air locks to all areas of the ship you don't controal

you had mentioned taking over key parts of the ship and venting sections into the vacuum of space
that was actually the exact plan my IG-87 assassin droid had come up with in a star wars D&D game to take over am imperial capital ship. though it was only a Nebulon-B escort frigate.
we had the added advantage of having an army of separatist era battle droids that didn't require oxygen. meaning we vented the entire ship at once at the same time as deploying our forces to deal with any resistance that survived the vacuum of space and took over the ship, preventing the captain from using the self destruct button.
of course this was in a D&D game where we have main character status and we intercepted the ship when it was running on a skeleton crew in theory that method could have been an effective strategy for any pockets of separatist resistance to take over imperial ships during the early years of the empire

There were a couple of times in the EU I can remember persons taking over a Star Destroyer. Boba Fett in the midst of a rebel operation temporarily commandeered one, and the ever tenacious Mara Jade uses some backdoor method to take control of one once if I remember right.
And Booster Terrick straight up conned his way into getting one, then KEPT IT.

Well star destroyers weren't the only ships in the imperial navy there were many, many smaller ships.
But yeah star wars is bad at scale.
Killer Orca it never really was a full galaxy spanning empire if you look at the galaxy map Specifically from empire time at there hight they probably had about 2/3 of the galaxy under they banner however there were the unknown regions which were quite large there was hut space and the outer rim while technically under empire control they really didn’t have that much control over it that’s why it was full of pirates and other such things
