I think it's because Judy already recorded the song in the studio, and the moment she is supposed to start singing they pipe in the recording and she is just lip synching.. In case she fucks up they wont have to re-shoot the whole scene. I'm just assuming that's what happened
So sad to know that by this stage, she was already heavily addicted to pills. What makes her an even more incredibly actress is that benzadrine (the amphetamine she was given) dulls the emotions and makes you feel somewhat numb and yet she was able to emote and act as if she was truly living the scenes and songs she was singing
@@benjaminfranklinthe180th4 It's possible Ethel Gumm did start her on the pills, but I don't believe it wasn't until her early twenties that she probably became addicted. After Oz, Judy became a big star, so that is probably when her drug use began to increase a great deal.

Very interesting to see that part coloured, yes of course the black and white bits of the film make it. However as I wrote nice to see it coloured, well done.
@@Pierrick13004 Yes, the movie's creators purposely filmed the opening and closing scenes in black and white to emphasize the simpler, less colorful aspect of Dorothy's life in rural Kansas. I couldn't stop thinking about her while watching Wicked. How ironic that the only person who was kind to Judy Garland was the green witch, who was the villain in the story. I hope she is living in peace in heaven now. And I hope that something similar will never happen to any other actress again.
I watched the documentary by her daughter and in it, there's footage of Judy singing live at a show and she's crying on it. But the most heartbreaking thing I heard was the deleted version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. You can see the tears and stuffy nose, in your mind's eye. Even Todo is absolutely stressed out on this clip. His ears are back and he's panting like mad. You can see all he wants to do is go to his owner or handler. Wouldn't surprise me if he lived in kennels when not on screen. 💔😢🤦🏻🐶
it no doubt a classic but to me growing up as a kid and with my family watching the uncut version in early 1990s, which ran to 130mins for TV, was a honor, i think the Oscar win to this maybe, was for the emotional performance cut to this song when Dorothy (Judy) was trapped in the castle, which was only on the Uncut Version for television, sadly it has been lost or not used since 1995.
