Beef, for the vertical entrance to the underwater hideout, you could try using more ice blocks to block the water from flooding it, if not, the sign idea might be the best choice. for the lighting you could make lamps hanging from the ceiling with stone walls and glowstone. An idea I had when I first saw the lily pad was a james bond-ish submarine entrance, close to the bottom of the ocean or even on it. A tunnel made of ice should be invisible unless you know it's there and you can seal it.
For that undersea ice room: you might consider making patterns in stone or quartz on the floor that will give you enough room to place glowstone without melting the ice. Food for thought. Love your videos! :)
The only light emitting block that isn't bright enough to melt ice is a Redstone Torch. With a light level of 7, they aren't bright enough to prevent mobs from spawning, but last I checked mobs don't spawn on ice, so that shouldn't be an issue. If any block near the ice has a light level of 11 or greater, the ice will melt. Ice also reduces any light level that passes through it by 2. So, other than placing a light source inside at just the right place, the Redstone Torch is your only option.
For your house, leave an open-ish, 3 wide stairway. For your ice room, you don't need to light it up! Mobs don't spawn on ice, and it's not even that dark in the room. It's dim which draws your attention to all the underwater ocean scenery around it because there's light in other places.
If you only want the fountain to serve as an entrance you could simply melt the ice block beneath the center. As long as that block doesn't get updated the water would stop there and you could swim right down into the lower room. Though if you let the water flow straight down into the room and just contained it that could be your entrance and exit.
The item you are referring to is a trapped chest. The locked chest and trapped chest are two different items. I can see how you can get them confused, but in the games code there is another block called "Locked_Chest" which is unobtainable in survival mode.
For the lighting in the ice room under the fountain you could just put glowstone and then some blocks and or carpet in a nice pattern at the spots where the ice melts.
Beef, try red stone lamps to light up, and also for the fountain dig out the bottom block of the fountain and dig a block under the ice room so you have a fountain of sort in the ice room as well so it solves a problem and makes it look good! ( or even try making the block that stops the water in the ice room a lamp so it is not super visible while it also lights up ) hope this helps!
Beef, if you have a fountain entrance into your fountain, it will cause a small amount of damage, which although usually trivial, is really not worth it in UHC. So, you should just make a hole directly below where the water would flow in and use the water as a safe way in as well as a visual feature.
You always have to have grass outside the fence connected to the inside dirt so it never runs out, but you don't need a whole trail all around. Just a few blocks.
To avoid that one ice block melting from the stairs you can use stairs and half slabs alternating, if you don't mind it being a bit dark. And maybe use redstone as a form of light, although I'm not sure if that'll still melt the ice or not.
For the secret entrance create a 1 block hole in the floor so the water doesn't spread out. Also the waterfall might give a cool looking feature to the secret room.
I think the best bet for lighting is redstone torches. Since they only put out a light level of 7, they will never melt the ice but will offer some mood lighting.
Beef for under the stairs in the tree farm you could put a zombie or a villager and he could be working at the beef lily pad gift shop or something or he could be a tour guide. love your vids you are the best :)
Try to use redstone torches for the lighting it will look like little red dots and it will not melt the ice. You may have to put more in the little space but that should work
If you place lamp/glowstone next to a half slap, and then ice behind the slap. That will work (won't melt the ice behind the slap) but it will melt the ice on the bottom. so maybe use an other material for the floor?
Hey beef what if you put and entrance under the stairs for the tree farm? And I'm not sure if redstone lamps melt ice but you could try that or pumpkins but I'm not sure about either.
Beef, I suggest wrapping the steps, in your tree farm, around the ice. Make them flush with the wall and keep it three wide so it flows back towards the ice. I think it would look nicer.
Beef, about the lighting. Your best option is to use redstone torches. Though it's a waste, you don't use redstone most of the time and they won't melt your base
Just a thought. You could put floating glowstone blocks above the lillypad like floating lanterns. That way it won't melt the ice. Not sure how it will look though.
Use redstone torches because anything that emits enough light to stop mobs from spawning will melt ice, and this doesn't. Learned this the from Theblackbeltpanda
beef two things, first mobs dont spawn on ice so you dont need to light it. also, if you put blocks around the glowstone on the stairs it will stop it from melting the ice in the fountain room
I think a cool idea would be put some glowstone or redstone lamps in the water surrounding the underwater base. illuminating the water around the base might make it bright enough.
maybe make a 3x3 quartz platform in the middle of the ice room with glowstone in the middle? I don't think you have any other option to light that room up.
I really feel you should use a different color then white for the carpets because it gives the impression that its trying to look as clean as the quartz but doesn't! so it looks kind of off , may i suggest like a dark gray wool carpet ?
you could create floating glowstone. build pillars three blocks from floor to ceiling and put glowstone in middle and remove other blocks so the glowstone appears to be floating in the room. would look awesome and won't melt your ice!
You should have a tunnel under the stairs of the tree farm that leads under the fountain. It would be like the see through under water tunnels at zoos and stuff.
Lamps would look a lot more sci-fi/futuristic than glowstone, but then you have to find creative ways to hide any levers or redstone blocks powering them.
I'd bring the ice wall underneath the walkway to the front filling in the gap rather than having it recessed like it is - so the walkway looks like part of the wall rather than extending out from it.
Indeed... I was thinking that the chandeliers would hang so that the lightsource wouldn't melt the ice, but the ceiling is probably too low for that...
Pole wouldn't look to great with his design. But having said that you actually need a gap of 4 blocks for glowstone not to melt Ice. I show that in my video response on my channel. Although I still use a 3 gap design it works by what I have done in the mock up.
Beef, Instead of putting a sign under the fountain break the block under the middle on the floor of the room so the water flows into the ocean (Plus you can use the water to get back up
Hey beef, i was thinking for your door when you said it needs to be either 1 wide or 3 wide. Would it look good with a column in the middle and having 2 doors on each side? Kinda like having 2 entrances. If you play Skyrim and you ever seen the Windhelm castle entrance than you kinda know what i'm talking about.
Hey Beef, my idea would be; make a centerpiece out of quartz/stone and add some glowstone with it, but make it that big/small that it doesn't melt the ice. Hope you like the idea!
Hey beef, it would look really cool if you put the same entrance you have for the tree farm and put it on your house. Then you can also have a grand entrance to your farm under the stairs
I would just like to say that I laugh a lot during your videos, but mining the ice was the cherry on top :) You are awesome!

You can get old in life but as long and your imagenation stays young... Stuff is awesome

6:08 I love how he says "meet you at spawn" again, and he doesn't realize it that Etho left...

Put glow stone in the fountain above for lighting. Also, the glow stone problem could let you have a pretty cool fountain in the ice room.
For the lighting in the ice room under the fountain you could just put glowstone and then some blocks and or carpet in a nice pattern at the spots where the ice melts.
Giving beef a silk touch pick is like giving an addict crack. They are so happy until they run out lol

dat imagination thingy beef.. so darn deep i'm drowning

Beef this is one of the coolest builds I've seen
Like most people said, redstone lamps but attached to inverted daylight sensors so it lights up at night.
You could possibly make a lamp in the middle of the room. Also I think you should curve out the path to tree farm so it matches the ice wall.
For the secret entrance create a 1 block hole in the floor so the water doesn't spread out. Also the waterfall might give a cool looking feature to the secret room.
that was Pyro's bookstore you saw in the distance (the one with the one with the giant book on the roof)
You can make something like lantern fishes far enough outside your icy chamber to not melt the ice, but close enough to let some light in.
beef, i love your intro!
with the place underneath the entryway maybe put an entrance to bottom floor or under ground cave?
I think the best bet for lighting is redstone torches. Since they only put out a light level of 7, they will never melt the ice but will offer some mood lighting.
If you wanted a door I would suggest a piston mechanism and it could fit in with the futureisitc feel for the house
Beef for under the stairs in the tree farm you could put a zombie or a villager and he could be working at the beef lily pad gift shop or something or he could be a tour guide. love your vids you are the best :)
Try to use redstone torches for the lighting it will look like little red dots and it will not melt the ice. You may have to put more in the little space but that should work
Lighting under the fountain, you can have fence coming down with torches or glowstone onthe sides
Okay the beam of the beacon will not melt the ice but will light up the room. Or you can just put some redstone torches in the room
You should use tripwires to block the water Beef, its also how Anders keeps his vines at a certain length.
For getting under the fountain, I made a piston entrance.
A sticky Piston is hidden under a slab and a light sensor.
If you place lamp/glowstone next to a half slap, and then ice behind the slap. That will work (won't melt the ice behind the slap) but it will melt the ice on the bottom. so maybe use an other material for the floor?

21:18 - You can also make those wing ends meet, so you get a arc like ice window
Slabs on the floor with red stone torches will make light, but not melt the ice, and the slabs will prevent mobs spawning
Beef, I suggest wrapping the steps, in your tree farm, around the ice. Make them flush with the wall and keep it three wide so it flows back towards the ice. I think it would look nicer.
Beef, about the lighting. Your best option is to use redstone torches. Though it's a waste, you don't use redstone most of the time and they won't melt your base
for lighting, maybe try putting redstone and tapping it to light up?
Just a thought. You could put floating glowstone blocks above the lillypad like floating lanterns. That way it won't melt the ice. Not sure how it will look though.
You can try placing glowstone in the water, it'll look almost like a starry night and if its far away enough you'll get light
Use redstone torches because anything that emits enough light to stop mobs from spawning will melt ice, and this doesn't. Learned this the from Theblackbeltpanda
I also had the idea to kind of have a torch I closed in glass, maybe it will trap the "heat"?
Under your stairs to your tree farm put the entrance to your the storage under the fountain?
For lighting in the room under the fountain you could put glowstone in the fountain
beef two things, first mobs dont spawn on ice so you dont need to light it. also, if you put blocks around the glowstone on the stairs it will stop it from melting the ice in the fountain room
I think a cool idea would be put some glowstone or redstone lamps in the water surrounding the underwater base. illuminating the water around the base might make it bright enough.
Yes beef, "oh what a beautiful feeling" is from 'OKLAHOMA', and the song is called "Oh what a beautiful morning."
Mabye lights in the fountain so it comes from above idk if its gonna melt or not
for the way in to the ice room put stone slabs in kinda a sqaure or circle shape around the water
for the tree farm stair case you could make a tiny tree under it and the place is looking AWESOME :)
maybe make a 3x3 quartz platform in the middle of the ice room with glowstone in the middle? I don't think you have any other option to light that room up.
I really feel you should use a different color then white for the carpets because it gives the impression that its trying to look as clean as the quartz but doesn't! so it looks kind of off , may i suggest like a dark gray wool carpet ?
What about putting glow stone under the ice but have iron bars attached to them so it kind of looks like an u
For lighting dig 5 blocks under the ice floor and place a layer of glowstone. Leave space between the ice and glowstone.
Do redstone lamps melt ice? If is doesn't then I think that would be a good suggestion for the area under the fountain
you could create floating glowstone. build pillars three blocks from floor to ceiling and put glowstone in middle and remove other blocks so the glowstone appears to be floating in the room. would look awesome and won't melt your ice!
When it cuts to him breaking the ice. Gets me every time. I laugh so hard
yo beef what if u make the floor cobble and cover it in carpet and hide the glowstone and for the waterfall u can put 4 ice surroundong the hole
could make a lighting pattern with quartz blocks and such in the center to light up that circle of ice
For lighting you can make hanging lights from the ceiling
You should have a tunnel under the stairs of the tree farm that leads under the fountain. It would be like the see through under water tunnels at zoos and stuff.
Lamps would look a lot more sci-fi/futuristic than glowstone, but then you have to find creative ways to hide any levers or redstone blocks powering them.
The ice breaking mining frenzy made me lol.
9:00 9:05 Wow "OMG!!!!!!," -cuts off camera- and we're backkkkkk
U can cobind your silk and unbr efi to make 1pick as well
Do you even think to put some red stone block with sun light panel (solar panel) .
Try putting stairs on the stairs. Like, when you enter, you see glass panes and under the glass panes are stairs.
How fast is David asslelhoof? How high can he jump? Find out on ethos horse timer.
For under the door, put some saplings into clay pots and place them on that shelfy part.
Do you know that when u open chat if u click the up arrow u send the last message and u can toggle between the last messages
Pole wouldn't look to great with his design. But having said that you actually need a gap of 4 blocks for glowstone not to melt Ice. I show that in my video response on my channel. Although I still use a 3 gap design it works by what I have done in the mock up.
You should make the room under the fountian 7 high and put glowstone in the middle
Go underneath the ice and place glowstone three blocks under ice?
beef there is a glitch where if u melt ice it creates still water until updated you could try that
Make a clock that launches from underwater when you get off your boat. (Use tripwires above the water block making it more compact)
My suggestion is under the stairs that go to the side in the front you should put glass or ice there just the first row
Maybe use a beacon for light and it would be neat the light shining through the fountain.
That ice breaking edit was the best
Put the glowstone way on the floor of the water and you should get a little light from the bottom
Beef, Instead of putting a sign under the fountain break the block under the middle on the floor of the room so the water flows into the ocean (Plus you can use the water to get back up
What if you left a single stream of water down the center for an easy way in and out of that room? (Think Zisteau's mine from last season)
I'm pretty sure they do, ice melts from light, no matter what the cause (except the sun)
In your hidden ice room, you should put a floating piece of glowstone in the middle of the room... If it's tall enough.
They cause a lot of lag. My brother tried one and didn't get more than 10 fps until he destroyed it; he normally has 60 frames.
Beef! Under the stairs, make a small room out of ice that extends into the ocean where you can see the wonders of the watery world!
Hey beef, i was thinking for your door when you said it needs to be either 1 wide or 3 wide. Would it look good with a column in the middle and having 2 doors on each side? Kinda like having 2 entrances. If you play Skyrim and you ever seen the Windhelm castle entrance than you kinda know what i'm talking about.
hey beef you should put entrances to the underwater fountain from under the stairs where a little something was missing
Underneath the entrance stairs maybe add a secret passage for special thing
you could make a coral reef from wool and colored clay under the water and it would look amazing from your ice bubble thing.
redstone lamps that on and off on a timer fast enough to not let ice melt and slow enough to not let mobs spawn
hey beef under the stairs u could put a little shop or storage or a look out for the under water village.
Try using a couple of enderchests in the floor with carpets above. Enderchests actually work as a lightsource. :)
Hey Beef, my idea would be; make a centerpiece out of quartz/stone and add some glowstone with it, but make it that big/small that it doesn't melt the ice. Hope you like the idea!
@Zak Koz really, redstone lamps won't melt ice?
Hey beef, it would look really cool if you put the same entrance you have for the tree farm and put it on your house. Then you can also have a grand entrance to your farm under the stairs
I think at 20:45 meant, Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.
