    I appreciate that you didn't make me feel bad for already having the older model. I still haven't even used it yet since I haven't scraped up the clams to buy a battery and charger kit. I'm a die-hard Makita guy. Your enthusiams about both the old and the new give me hope. You are the wind between my ears.

      Hey Steve, you might want to consider picking up a battery adaptor instead from Amazon. I found one that will connect the Makita batteries to Ryobi tools called "MT20RNL" for $30 CAD

    My husband bought me the dual temp glue gun for my birthday. I already owned the original but needed one with low temp so it wouldn't melt foam when I used it. To say I hate the new glue gun would be an understatement! The glue melts in the glue stick chamber causing the glue to not come out, on low its a struggle to get the glue to come out at all, the nozzles aren't as small as I had hoped they would be, and it takes a while to heat up. Mine is going back to HD. I would rather buy a cheap low temp gun for when I need it and just continue using my old Ryobi for all other projects.

    Since getting mine I've discovered that the hot glue gun is the unsung hero of the quick and dirty fix. Sure, when it comes to home improvement/repair, hot glue is rarely the ideal solution, but if you've got two things that you need to stick together quick without a lot of fuss, These cordless hot glue guns are amazing.

    We have 5 of the older model, I think we are on our 4th 100 pack of hot glue. The longer tip will be welcome. hotter glue is less stringy. cooler glue burns less.

  • @TOM-rj4fc
    @TOM-rj4fc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I actually prefer the older model. I got the new version and couldn't figure out why it was drooling glue all the time. Well if you remove the nozzle cover, you will see that the cheaper old version has a pinhole in the nozzle tube, which makes it drip free. The new one however doesn't have that pinhole in any of the 3 tips, so it drools all the time. Also the old version flows more glue per trigger press. When you compare them you can see the trigger has a longer flow. My guess is that's why they had to add the drip tray. Like you my older version I've had for years, has never had a dripping problem.

    Because of THIS VIDEO I went the Home D & bought my 1st cordless glue gun. Because it's true - corded glue guns are a pain. But because of this great review, I didn't get the latest model you reviewed, but the previous model you compared it to. The new features were, to me, all unnecessary. The basic tip will be all I need; you already said the old model didn't drip, so drip-catcher isn't needed; I don't know why I'd want dual heat setting - for my little jobs I just want to get up to heat, glue & done. Thanks for the good review!!

    I had a different experience. I order the new dual temp glue gun as part of my use case is for glueing foam and needs a lower temperature. Anyway, got the glue gun, put in a fresh 2Ah battery and turned it on. The little red light (LRL) came on to show it was heating. BUT, it never went off, glue started to come out of the nozzle and the barrel of the gun got too hot to hold (after about 15 minutes). It appears that my unit was defective and there was no heat cutoff on either the low or high setting. I did like the drip tray which caught about 1/2 a stick of glue.
    I've returned the unit and ordered another one, hopefully it'll work OK.

    Clint, if I'm not mistaken, the original Ryobi full-size glue gun, the P305, is also compatible with those Surebonder-style interchangeable tips. Other 'tubers have posted videos about it (disclaimer: I have not tried it myself -- never had the need). The funny thing is, Ryobi has never advertised this feature. Still, it's REAL NASS LIKE that they're acknowledging alternative tips with the new model, and better yet, they're including extra tips.
    AND you even get seven more glue sticks with the P307 than you get with the P305. The P305 includes just three. WHHHAAAAAAAA!!!!

    @toolreviewzone I have version one and I love it… I bought it as a set with the 2 hour amp battery and charger… just bought two batter that are 4 hour that have the batter gauge and the three pack of tips…. I love my glue gun have done lots of things crafty and home improvement (lol) and car repair with it! The cordless feature is it’s strongest suit it is heavy though but that is not a concern with me…. Loved the high energy review bit would like to see the tips ☺️ and how they come off

      TTI owns both companies, and I’ve also noticed that Hart has their own version of Milwaukee’s Packout system(which TTI also owns) but it’s DEFINITELY a DIY/homeowner version, because the quality isn’t nowhere near Milwaukee’s.

    In reality it is a HEAT GUN.
    Weather it has a glue stick in it or not, it HEATS and it is a GUN.
    I stand in solidarity and proclaim I will for now on call it a HEAT GUN.
    Unless I forget and keep accidentally calling it a GLUE GUN.
    TH-cam algorithm might delete this because it has GUN to many times.

    Late comment but I have a question. I work with a lot of building trades and where I am the only contractors that use Ryobi is furniture installed.
    Is the glue gun off balanced because of the battery pack and does it get in the way.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The battery is a bit big, but they have a very small (I believe ) 12v

    Listen to you...doing that "celcius" stuff! Trying to impress those European girls I'm guessing...Mrs. Tool Zone will be making your goodies moist...so be very careful! But this Ryobi company is Da Bomb! That is schweeeeet! A fancy glue gun! I can honestly say, in all my many, many years doing maintenance work...never used one...around the house, a couple times but I doubt I'd ever get or use one. Sorry, Ryobi, but I'll pass on this one. (Besides, considering my track record with Superglue...I can only imagine how I'd injure myself with this heat gun...I mean glue gun!!!!) 👍👍
