One of if not his first one was on Tyson WR which he has and I think he had at the time. He has a lot and it surprises how little he mentions himself in the MTPO docs he does. He's probably the best MTPO speedrunner in the world.
Yeah there are people are good enough to feasibly challenge some of his records, but it's a longshot rn and you'd be talking about an already great runner putting in a serious grind to even have a chance. Outside of some challenges I've seen that I'm not sure Salt's tried, I'm not sure he's been close to topped in half a decade. If we're talking explicitly MTPO as opposed to punch out as a whole, I don't think it would be a stretch to call Salt the goat, hands down.
Maintaining his status as the absolute king of Mike Tysons punch out. crazy that RTA is considered a meme category I hope one day we see you on "Hotboxin' With Mike Tyson" his podcast
@@ayodosunmustan9199 real time attack. It means using a live, continuous timer instead of just using the in game timer, which pauses at multiple points throughout the run (someone please correct me if im wrong)
That was *SICK*, yo! :) Well done. And man, ya can't beat that awesome RNG in the few areas where it was all about if and when the fighters "rise on 3" or whatever. :D GO LIL' BIG MAC!
This is actually tied with a TAS. This is the best run you can get so far, it is genuinely impossible to get lower than this. He's sealed his WR forever
Question Why do you wait before hippo? My guess is so you can press select, which somehow saves time in the following fight. Ive seen other runners do this, so im assuming its not just forgetting to press start. Is there a strat to waiting before hippo?
By waiting for an 8 frame window window that loops every 4 seconds, pushing start within it, and performing certain other actions, I can manipulate Hippo’s pattern to be the same every time.
GG ! I would like to know if you play this on a real NES, or an emulator ? and if you play on an emulator, do you use something like an 8bitDo controller ?
How many people run RTA? I’ve only seen it run RTA in marathons and relays (it was such a fun finale to the Turkathlon relay). I find it fun to watch, but it is probably too early in the game’s history for it to graduate from meme run status.
RTA just has so many uncontrollable aspects, like how long a fighter stays down, how many 'sit-ups', etc. that it's just not a category you have any real control over. That's why it isn't run seriously.
Single Segment uses the in-game timer (each in-game second is 20 frames or 1/3 of a real second) and adds up all of the 14 times you see at the end of each fight. RTA uses a Real-Time timer that runs continuously from the moment you start the Glass Joe fight to when the screen fades to black after beating Tyson. Other than that, the rules are about the same, with the only differences in gameplay being that some strategies are faster in real-time, but slower for Single Segment (Example: Skipping the 1:59 knockdown from Mr Sandman is faster for RTA)
Mr Sandman is one. Single Segment has you intentionally get knocked down at 1:59 to get his second Dreamland Express and knock him down, done by lowering your health at the start, taking damage to lower it further at specific points, then taking the last hit at the start of Phase 3. In RTA, you skip all of that
There is major RNG that can affect how long a potential KO is. The timer is better used and much more consistent based off the time at the end of a match.
The in game timer doesn't count the 10 counts when you knock someone down. As there's considerable randomness on when someone gets up (Or has a fake get up which stops the 10 count as well) it's considered purer to use the in-game timer. Even with all the skill in the world RTA (Real Time Attack) on this game has a lot of RNG bullshit.
Ultimately the things the other commenters mentioned have enough variation across the game that there are some strategy differences on occasion because they're faster on *only* RTA or IGT runs. Edit: I really don't know just how much this comes into play but do note that a few relatively weak IGT times are acceptable here. Salt even mentions basically this concept with Soda.
I love how so many world record videos start with the runner going "*sigh* one more".
So true went to comment the same thing and saw you had already commented it
Dude gets a World Record. Puts it on their ALT CHANNEL. Doesn't elaborate. Leaves
Summoning Salt : And this is how i became Matt Turk
I’m starting to think Turk’s times if salt could time travel and tell him new strats especially Tyson
Wait till Summoning Salt sees these new WRs set by this guy.
Homie's gotta make a video about himself now

I don't know if anyone even does High Score anymore.
@@wafersmash338 yeah he definitely is, he's been on top of the single segment for like 6 years now

I don’t want to see that video any time soon. Cause you know it’ll be the last.
Saw the title, jaw dropped, not exaggerating. Congratulations, man, GG
"alright ill do one more" how u know something demonic is about to happen
Not only does he make the greatest documentaries for us. He also is the king of Mike Tyson’s punch out!!! Love you salt you the best Hommie!!!
HE’S A LITTLE GOOD AT THE GAME HOLY
Absolutely on fire man. Congrats
For one second my brain always thinks Summoning is really excited about the game before remembering the "!!" is part of the title.
The man, the myth, the Salt.
Still say this channel name should be "Summoning's Alt"
But great work as always

I think its very funny that this is a meme category
Summoning Salt presents The Punch-Out Quest of Summoning Salt
Congratulations, man!
And this is where the record stands today. :)
Ironically, the last attempt becomes the best run
bruh beat wr in 1 day Jesus Christ man congrats
Salty continues to break Punch out records!
Congrats bro!! You're a savage through and through!
Congratulations. Been a minute since you've had a video. Missed them.
And then, THIS happened...
You’re Awesome Man!
Everyone: "Niftski is the most impressive speedrunner of the decade"
SS: "Hold my gloves"
1:30 the RNG was holding you back
I love how Salt talks about not knowing the fastest strats during the Piston Honda 2 fight while he’s casually getting the world record 😂
These records come out of nowhere! Great job homie!
"Should-a be good-a" !
absolute legend
Tyson with the 8s getup.
Congrats!
"The quest to beat myself"
Congratulations man!!!
Yeah it's a meme category but that just means you're a memelord. Congrats!
And then...on November 26 2023, Summoning Salt did THIS.
Summoning salt can now and forever be mentioned in the same breath as guys like jimmypoopins.

Congrats man! Wow! Nice run!
He loses the RTA record to KThree and proceeds to nab it right back. Madman
I love how speed runners are never happy with World Record times where RNG and small time saves a missed
Hot damn, GG! How much hypothetical room for improvement is there even left at this point?

Real NES
I think the only way Salt will make a video about this is if people start treating him like the new Matt Turk and beat him out of the categories

I got recommended one of the videos on this channel ramdomly lol

GGs. Holy Moly.
Of course, gg
And then he got this run…
Seems like a lot of time is on the table to better this time
GG!
gratz
The RNG luck on most of this looks insame to me. 😳 This RTA surely should for a while, no?
A lot of it looks like it outweighs a perfect Tyson, etc.?
He can't keep getting away with it
With what?
So basically this is a normal speed run with the time between each fight added on? Isn’t the in-between stuff a standard time every playthrough?
There's also aspects of the game that the in-game timer doesn't capture, like time fighters stay down. None of that is standard.
NICE
Are the strategies different in RTA vs in-game timer?
In the voice of Barney Stinson:… niiiiceeeee
yoo i just was watching the world record vid and I saw this.
nice
Only thing this video is missing is someone at the beginning saying "and then he did this:"
What are the differences in rules between RTA and single segment runs?
Single Segment uses the in-game timer (each in-game second is 20 frames or 1/3 of a real second) and adds up all of the 14 times you see at the end of each fight.
RTA uses a Real-Time timer that runs continuously from the moment you start the Glass Joe fight to when the screen fades to black after beating Tyson.
Other than that, the rules are about the same, with the only differences in gameplay being that some strategies are faster in real-time, but slower for Single Segment (Example: Skipping the 1:59 knockdown from Mr Sandman is faster for RTA)
Wow, what changed that Sandman can be beaten without the knockdown strat?
It's faster not to get knockdown on an RTA, but it's still done in single segment ryns
@rengoku_speedrunner Oh I see, because the timer keeps running even between fights, so they don't go by the fight time the game displays. Thanks!
Got inspired by your own event, didn't you lol
Are there any fights that have different strategies because the regular ones are slower on rta?
Mr Sandman is one.
Single Segment has you intentionally get knocked down at 1:59 to get his second Dreamland Express and knock him down, done by lowering your health at the start, taking damage to lower it further at specific points, then taking the last hit at the start of Phase 3.
In RTA, you skip all of that
like watching picasso paint
The punch out GOAT does it again
Is there a slowest/longest world record time in Punch-Out!! like where you go deep into the 3rd round against every opponent?
Basically, just win by decision on all fights
How is this different from the single segment category ?
Is this a different category? What’s RTA?
Another one! :)
Another record?
Bhuh
Whats rta?
Yeah, building in count RNG into a run sounds less than fun... Congrats I guess 🎉
Why exactly is running a regular timer considered a terrible way to run the game? The timer doesn't include all the numbers.
