- NOTE: THE CONCRETE CONTRACTOR JUST CALLED ME, AND CAN INSTALL THE 18' X 30' X 5" SLAB FOR $3700.00 He knows the area, and we have an appointment to meet. The turn around on the metal building is 2 weeks.
Tom, I have been following you for years now, you should take some time before buying this storage unit. I think in your heart, you want that cabin down by the creek. Just start building it, you will be much happier!!
Robert thank you for being a long time viewer of mine. This was the building, and the price I was looking for for months & months. The concrete company called my finally, after so many non call backs. I have this going up for under 20K I am in.🛖💰

Put a mini split in it. Heat in winter, ac in summer. Cheap and energy efficient too.
That would blow away in a major hurricane. If a steel Bldg is what your looking for research around the country. Some steel Bldgs are a lot stronger then others. Also give it another 6 months if you can before you pull the trigger. The economy is headed for the crapper. You’ll definitely get a better price when it happens. You’ve waited this long WHATS another 6 months to a year
Good points all around my friend. The concrete company called, and they can do the slab for 3500 not 5K, The building price was if you used a credit card, the real bottom line is 17,500K😯😯😯

Get it insulated. In the summer my uninsulated barns at my farm are killer hot as in I can't stay in them when it's over 100 degrees out.
Ps. I have several metal building. Just had one installed last year. 24x40 for less than 10k with concrete. You are getting screwed. NEVER buy building at car lots lol. You should know better than that
I wish I knew your building supplier? I just priced the concrete pad, at 3600.00 Building for 11,000, insulation at 3000. Total 16,600.

2 barns plus my 1200 ft2 in process weld/fab shop and counting: whatever size you think you need: double it. 1st barn I had built was 1200ft2. Filled it so next barn I had built(same property) was 2400ft2. Filled too.....
But I thought you were looking to have something like a cabin in the back? This looks like you’re veering off from the plan. I’m just confused
If you know me the shop was always the main thing. The problem I ran into, was cost and concrete companies. Could not find them local. So the land in the back was my next thing to do. I still can't get a straight answer on log company's. There is the problem, no direct log supply company's in NC. So when I seen this building today by accident, I said it's time to go back to plan 1. Plus the concrete company called me today finally.
Cool. Makes perfect sense. But, you’ll be a much happier man once that cabin is made. A bed, a fire woodstove, an outhouse, windows, a bed…..on your land. Having coffee on the porch reading the news, and tuning out this crazy shitfaced world we live in…..PRICELESS.
I think it's the way to go. I had one built for my pontoon boat 18 yrs ago. 30x20x15 with open front. And used screenings for floor. Back then cost me 8 thousand $. Now it's my tractor shed, maintenance shop.

I have a 18x28 12 foot tall like that.gave 1000 bucks for it back in 2004 used. I took it apart and put it back up at my location.

You might not need it now, and you might not ever need it; but I'd still keep that 12' door if I were you.
When it comes to garage door openings, bigger is ALWAYS better!

Add another man door in the back for emergency exit, and some vents up high that can be opened when hot weather or if doing Smokey work like welding.

Could stick build it for less. Much easier with the metal building however. And quicker. How thick you want the concrete?

Spay foam for insulation
Spray foam is a good way to go.
Build the cabin you want tom. That is a run of the mill building. I can give you a company here in duplin county an hour away from you thay will put thay building up for you less than 10k. You are paying way to much for thay building. Neber buy from places like leonards...they contract it out. If you want a metal building I will give you a contact. But build the cabin. You can get D logs or 4x8 sheets of treated wood that is very rustic and looks just like a cabin. Justvstart building.

Build it yourself. You could get much more your money if you get materials and build.
