Noel’s only regret from these times is that nobody stopped him from putting these great songs on the b-side of a single. He wishes he’d have saved some for future Oasis albums. Having said that around this time he was on fire as a songwriter and just didn’t write bad songs. He’s still a fantastic songwriter, he’s been prolific for over 30 years.

Great reaction. Thought Dave would like it. Next suggestion that Dave is guaranteed to love is Don't Go Away from the Be Here Now album. Seriously emotional song

    Beautiful song, super reaction.
This is my favourite Oasis song in their entire catalogue.
Can't believe Noel b sided this one. What was he thinking ?!

Ah.. the greatest days of Noel's song-writing output. So much top level creative juice that even the B-sides warrented a serious enough spotlight [shiiiiiiiinee-ah!] on them to showcase them on an entire album, The Masterplan. This was an industry-insider spin, (out of Noel's 'durisdiction') which he wasn't exactly happy about, but shortly afterwards he encouraged Oasis fans to buy it anyway as he had a "massive tax bill" and must've thought 'fuck the corporate pigs - this'll pay for that massive income tax bill' - everyone's a winner... Doesn't take away a single thing from the monumental force of nature that these tracks represent - nor the joy that they brought to music fans and still do! Nice upload, (top background creative tour de force from Shecky, as always, thank you 😘) Nice one Dave - keep 'em coming! Boo-yeah..!!! ✌️😎

Liam didn't sing the master plan because they had finished recording a single on a Saturday night in London, they were then told that they needed another b-side before the song could be released, so Noel went and stayed in a London hotel room on his own ( while the rest of the band were out drinking) and wrote a song then went in on his own the next day and recorded it. That song was masterplan and so it was recorded and released before the rest of the band had even heard it.
Apparently nobody in the studio that day suggested in anyway that this song is a bit too good to be a b-side.

One of the best Oasis b-sides is a song called Listen Up. You should do that one next.

(Ps, have you checked out Fool's Gold by The Stone Roses? Bangin song that you are legally required to play on maximum volume in the UK in the summer months!) Well, that's what I've been telling my various neighbours over the years, and they seemed to have bought it.. 😉😂

Everyone in the UK had every Oasis Album… So the only way Oasis could sell singles, was by putting an amazing B-Side on it… Some of their best stuff was on B-Sides, so you had to buy every single 😂 And I know loads of people that bought every single and every album

Lovely drum shuffle from Alan Ghost Note White… as much as I still like Tony McCarrol’s hitting on the first album, he couldn’t play this like Whitey

Noel has said he likes the fact that their B sides could have been A sides, and that way their fans would have to look for them when they were released and not just have it all on the album.
    I totally agree.

All of there B-sides were better than most bands A-sides at the time.
    Including theirs. 😄

I honestly can’t think of a single letter, ever being sung better than the very last note of this track… ‘N!!!!!’
Only Liam Gallagher could do that 😂😂😂

To answer Dave's question. I think Liam doesn't sing on the Masterplan because it was a b-side.
The label asked Noel if he could write some extra material for the b-sides and that included the Masterplan.
The only song Noel sang on the album was Don't Look Back in Anger.

The Smiths had similar issues. How Soon Is Now and Rubber Ring were both B-Sides, somehow.

after a couple of years of touring and getting the record deal noel started doing backing vocals then a 3 or 4 song acoustic set. Singing songs liam was meant to originally sing but he was at the pub when noel recorded some bonehead was also meant to have a song on each album starting with boneheads bank holiday like ringo but he went to have a few beers for his nerves an got smashed so noel sang it with bonehead and liam drunk in the background of the recording. Of course noel starting singing more when liams throat gave up and he walked of stage I like noels voice but liam is far better especially in those 90s tours. noels good at singing the ones he sung off the albums but he butcher's the proper rock songs liam sung.

It was and still is great, but definitely an album track/B-side. There were some better ones on The Masterplan collection: ridiculously great, actually. Acquiesce!

    What a b side tune

    • @cdecent
      @cdecent 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It refers to when all records were on vinyl, and bands would release a smaller record, called a "single". The record had the single on the side A, and another song on the other side of the record called the "B side". A sides were meant to be the hits/album tracks, while the B sides were extra material, sometimes not on the LP. B Sides kind of gained a status as being second best to the A side. Oasis released a lot of B sides that some consider to be better than the A side.
