  • If you enjoy oldschool automation, you'll enjoy this video. Packing on the go, foot to floor in neutral while coasting up to carts has to be one of my favorite things to see, and there's certainly no shortage of it here.
Desmond, Alex and I were in search of what I'm confident is a fromer city of San Diego Amrep that is still bumpin' around the routes the Victorville yard services. Luck being on our side, we found it pretty quickly too. It was closing in on the end of his first load while we were filming, and that being paired with what Id assume is a slower than normal packer were two factors leading up to a very entertaining operating style by this driver.
Some interesting things about this truck include it being the first year that Amrep built the second generation arm and no longer made the "rail arm" following the patent lawsuit against them by Sunbelt, as well as this being the first year Peterbilt made the roomier, more boxy cabbed design we all recognize as the 320.
A big thanks goes out to the driver.
Thanks for watching and hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I do

Always fun to watch drivers coast it in neutral revving the packer! Excellent video dude! Pretty cool to see what ESD ran back in the day and good ol resident with the gestures...

Truck sounded awesome! Victorville sure is lucky they get to see trucks like this and Ex-LA trucks all the time.

The sound of this truck is very similar to that of CR&R's 310/20 Rapid Rail you guys found out in Cabazon. Must've been the only year they produced 320s with the slant and square back cabs since I believe CR&R's was a 96 as well. One thing I found interesting about this truck was the hole between the cab shield and hopper at 5:52 when the packer blade returns and the lid swings. Nice video!

Great video Mike, that ex ESD truck looks and sounds amazing. It seems to be in much better shape than the ex ESD trucks I have seen at U.S. Auctions. Interesting how the Amrep has the newer style grippers but no donuts on the grippers. Do you know if the Maxon ASL was on this route collecting another stream? Thank you for posting this video Mike.

Very nice video Mike, what stuck out to me the most was the new generation of clamps it has. The zip on the belt was fun to watch too, that always makes a truck from Amrep more fun to watch. The exhaust cutout too was cool to see it looks kinda funky lol. How many Ex- ESD units do they have? Nice video again!

How do you know this is really ex ESD? This looks a lot like the OLD ones they had back in the 90's up through 2001 or 2002.

You should do a video where you react to your first and oldest videos.
