- The plaintiff worked with the defendant, and she claims the defendant was obsessed with her butt. He often slapped her butt and even did it in front of their other co-workers. She loaned him money, but he never paid her back, so she’s suing. The defendant admits he touched her, but it was only because they had an intimate relationship. He doesn’t think he owes because the money was just due to their relationship.

@domineik5122. In Employment matters, individuals who conduct themselves inappropriately, even in good humor, send out the wrong signals. IF subordinate staff become uncomfortable, take work less seriously, lose respect for someone else, it does impact that atmosphere. MANY times, it isn’t the directly-targeted individual who files a complaint about toxic workplaces, sexual harassment, unethical practices, due to their mgr/supervisor/dept head’s conduct or “affair” with someone else at work. If they produce evidence, that entire company/agency COULD be defamed, lose clients, fold-depending on size net worth, & govt standing.
This has occurred, been brought to court many, many times since the term “harassment” went into effect, & is a matter of public record.
Laws do vary from state-to-state. SOME people ARE more or less permissive & dismissive-until something awful happens.
A good number of families are, however, more protective of their adult/working age family members & WILL sue, or even take reprisals over their family members’ treatment-esp. long-term.
That’s the reason most employers (& judges, legislators) frown on any conduct unbecoming to “professionals.” Licensure, permits, injunctions, malpractice liability, & lawsuits.
