I'm 15 And I know who he is.... he created the breaks 1980, he is one of the most influential rappers of all time, but kids just dont know hip hop shit
Robert Ryan thats right rappers today get 2 gs and floss like its a 100k or get a car on lease and floss then they claim they didnt like the car so they just returned it to hide it got repoed😂
Definitely, these kids dont know! But yo, Vlad; is it possible to inteview Irv Gotti? Not necessarily to focus on the Murder Inc vs. 50 Cent/Eminem bs but just his history in the game at Def Jam, with DMX, Ja Rule, Jay-Z etc. Would be dope.
Interviews with true OGs like this preserves the roots and origin of hip-hop. It's essential and thank you Vlad. Keep this up and you could almost be considered a journalist. 😉
What a fucking legend. This guy is a huge part of rap history. Would love to meet this guy and just shake his hand. Man he made hip hop what it is today.
For being literally one of THE Undisputed OG Icons of Hip-Hop, Kurtis Blow remains an incredibly gracious and humble human being. I love hearing directly from his unique perspective.
One of the best legends ever.... met him at a FREE show for the USO for military members serving in Kyrgyzstan in 2002. He was older but still put on a great performance. Was very humble and has a genuine smile! Cool dude fo sho.
Absolute legend and could of let it all go to his head but you can tell he is a genuine humble guy who's grateful for every opportunity and luxury he was every afforded. This is what rap is missing today! Brilliant interview Vlad.. More legends please 👍🏽
I remember watching an Interview with Kurtis Blow in the mid 1990s and he was asked what he disliked about the rappers today and he said he doesn't condone the violent and misogynistic lyrics.
Thank you for this 1 Vlad!!!! When I met Kurtis Blow at Sam Ash on 48th St in Manhattan back in 2002 I thanked him and he just said "You're welcome, brotha"
+42nROck12 no not really. it kinda doesn't make sense (logically nor theologically) Adam wasn't the first man and nor did he contribute anything to civilization (or hip hop in this sense). nor was there anyone trying to be like Adam, better than Adam, or trying to get Adam to get them in good with god. hip hop is more than just rhyme. its about leaving a legacy and this man has left an amazing legacy (among many other artist of his time who have been forgotten and the elders have to actually rack their brains to remember.
Kurtis Blow should receive a Soul Train Legends Award. He should also host some of these music shows. He sounds good and looks good. Thanks for some of the greatest music of our time
His expressions\demeanor are that of your real cool\mannerly uncle that you chill with when you don't wanna be with the ratchet family members at the cookout.
Thanks for interviewing some legends and pioneers Vlad! I like a few of these new rappers, but there's nothing like hearing some Hip-Hop history straight from the source. I'd like to see more of this type of interview. Kool Moe Dee, LL, Grandmaster Flash, UTFO, Doug E Fresh, Whodini, Fat Boys, Beastie Boys, Run-DMC etc... R.I.P. Cowboy, Buffy The Human Beatbox, MCA, Jam Master Jay, Heavy D and all the other legends from the 70's and 80's that we lost
Crazy how rap has changed so much. Back then you could get away with such simple lines and now it's all about being complex and having extraordinary flows. Wonder how hip hop will be in 30 years.
There is still a lot of simple rapper, but there is also a lot of complex rappers as well. Hip Hop started off as just simple party music, but it has evolved into numerous sub genres.
Yeah because Drake has complex lines. Because "Panda" has complex lines (although you could argue that due to that nigga's gibberish way of speaking, it can be considered 'complex'). Hip-Hop is still simple. Very few are on the you-need-a-master's-in-English lane of Hip-Hop in actuality.
+I Provide Useless Statistics for Your Pleasure I'm saying what the real hip hop fans respect as true hip hop is what is getting more complex. It's because there are still these simple rappers why we look for people who are more complex with their lyrics.
Nice interview with music rapper Kurtis Blow. Kurtis Blow, Run DMC(RIP Jam Master Jay), LL Cool J, Redman, Willie D of Geto Boys, Scarface of Geto Boys, MC Ren of NWA, Ice Cube of NWA, A Tribe Called Quest(RIP Phife Dawg), 2Pac Shakur(RIP), Tim Dog(RIP), Gang Starr(RIP Guru), Naughty By Nature, KRS One, Ice T, Foxy Brown, Lady Luck, Freddie Foxxx are my favorite rappers.
Peep the videos of these Kurtis Blow classic singles: Christmas Rappin', The Breaks, Basketball, 8 Million Stories, AJ Scratch, Party Time, If I Ruled the World, and Tough. These jams will also show anyone how diverse his skills are, and how lethal his talent is, even though Kurt never laid down bars about killin', sellin' drugs, takin' drugs, how much money he has, how many shorties he's smashing', and all that other nonsense... Even though he had it going on like Drake in a strip club, because he was the #1 soloist artist for many years back-n-the-day. BTW, Vlad didn't touch on the subject in this interview, but Kurt is a well known hit music producer also. Check the logistics of the statistics.
Kurtis Blow is so humble with zero ego like a comment above said, Vlad doesnt do enough research on his guest to know about the great music production talent of the genius he is interviewing.
I never heard of this rapper until my grandson Owen was singing this tonight for my bday on FaceTime from Lake Tahoe. Owen is 6 yrs old. How does he know this? I love that he appreciates great artists.
Bro kurtis blow looks like Kanye west but he a legend he inspired greats like biggie in the movie biggie you could see young biggie listing to kurtis blow
i met Kurtis in front of Manny's Music on 48th st back in the 2Ks. He seemed to be surprised to be recognized, it's was like he had no idea what a Fucking Legend he is.. Nice Cat. LEGENDARY
Working with kurtis Blow doing background vocals from a school called INCA a awesome experience with Alison Williams as a student too. Wow did we have big fun 😊
Kurtis Blow, you can never be weak Ha ha ha People should watch the 1985 movie "Krush Groove" and pay attention to The King of Rap, he really bust through the scene in the 1980s with America, Basketball, Xmas Rappin, If I Ruled the World, Save Your Love For #1 (Rene & Angela),Sun City, The breaks, The 1986 Martin Luther King charity song " King Holiday" yeah with Run DMC, Fat Boys, Whitney Houston, Full Force /LisaLisa, New Edition, James JT Taylor, Stephanie Mills, Menudo feat Ricky Martin, Whodini, Melle Mel
Happy 50th Anniversary to Hip Hop. Curtis Blow, Grand Master Flash, Fat Boys and the Sugar Hill Gand are the legends that introduced the world to a new sound of music 🎶 that would change the world. Hip Hop forever

What a fucking legend. This guy is a huge part of rap history. Would love to meet this guy and just shake his hand. Man he made hip hop what it is today.

Also bring in eric wright and get proof's take on where Eminem is at in his career
He said cats were rapping for 6 or 7 years before Rapper's Delight even came out! That's the story I want to hear: hip-hop in the '70s!
Watch the get down on Netflix it's all about that
'pigmeat markham - here comes the judge' came out in 1968
Wow, heard about that jam as a child but only now hearing and that's definitely emceeing!
Troy L. Smith is one source, to get the stories from the original players. The Foundation is another.
Well then you need to watch hip hop evolution on netflix. You welcome
Strange how we have one of the first rappers to ever bless the planet, yet so many rappers have been dead for decades :(
Kurtis Blow! I've loved you since I was a child. You are the true GOAT!
Kurtis Blow should receive a Soul Train Legends Award. He should also host some of these music shows. He sounds good and looks good. Thanks for some of the greatest music of our time

A legend! Kurtis Blow is the man!

Only rappers i'd consider complex on the extreme is Aesop Rock. Not to be confused with Asap Rocky
Well-spoken, unassuming, cool, and laid back. OLD-SCHOOL.
I would tell the teacher my name was Kurtis Blow when I got a Detention slip.

"The Breaks" is one of my top 10 old-school rap songs. I still listen KB today and have been since the 80's.
Peep the videos of these Kurtis Blow classic singles: Christmas Rappin', The Breaks, Basketball, 8 Million Stories, AJ Scratch, Party Time, If I Ruled the World, and Tough.
