      I enjoyed this video with one exception. You said that the area was originally inhabited by Charlestonians moving north which isn't true. It was originally inhabited by the Wando, Sampa, Kussoe and Sewee people. You made mention of the flora indigenous to this area but made no mention of the indigenous people.

    Something to keep in mind, there are a lot of professional jobs within North Charleston and downtown Charleston. This means that if you have to commute from summerville to these areas for work, your morning commute may be a little under an hour and a half, coming both to and from the town. Traffic is a big deal in the town, so look into that if you're moving in.

    • @CharlestonTours
      @CharlestonTours  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely going to include the traffic as one of the cons of the area. I’ve rarely had it take an hour to an hour and a half to commute from North Charleston to Summerville in my experience, though - that happens often for you or mainly when there’s a wreck or lane closure of some sort?

    As a native from Summerville the sweet tea capital of the world. Sweet tea is not an a acquired taste it is the taste. Summerville was a beautiful and quiet town but it has become overcrowded and not so affordable anymore. Housing and property taxes has gone up along with schools being overcrowded also. We have all the things he said but it comes with a price. With all the people moving here new roads have to be built. People have lost their homes or part of their yard because of a new road. Most people can't afford a new house because of the cost of housing. With more people moving you get more traffic and crime. We will protect ourselves if you know what I mean.

    • @everyonesfavoritesejong

      And that protection will likely run out because almost all the people moving here are the type to vote Democrat.

    Hi! Thanks for the amazing video! My husband and I are highly highly considering a move down to Summerville area from Columbus, Ohio (hopefully spring 2024). Do you see Ridgeville becoming more built up with restaurants, shops, etc. over the next few years?

    • @CharlestonTours
      @CharlestonTours  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Allie! I’m so happy you liked the video. Very cool you guys are considering a move - happy to answer any questions you may have while contemplating your search. Great question about Ridgeville by the way, but very loaded question; in short, I think it will be a while before it gets to that point as it still has a population of less that 2000, and it’s one of the few places in the area that’s actually decreasing in population year over year. I do think that stat will change going forward given all the work opportunities and overall growing interest. The bang for your buck and typical lot size in Ridgeville comparably for the proximity is one of the many reasons of the growing interest. I’m going to do a video on Carolina Bay in Ridgeville soon which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the area so I’ll try to do a more thorough overview of Ridgeville when I do. I hope this helps!

    Does Summerville under flood zone and hurricay zone?

    • @CharlestonTours
      @CharlestonTours  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is susceptible to hurricanes, but there aren’t any technical zones for it. As far as flooding, a majority of the city is in flood zone “X” being “low risk” and not required flood insurance. However, there are areas that are subject to flooding / standing water in certain areas, especially closer to the water and the coast.
