The BERLIN WALL: the Rise and Fall of East Germany

The Berlin wall, separated a city into 2, one side free and prosperous while the other a communist oppressive regime. As time went on escapes occurred from east Berlin into West Berlin. People dreaming of seeing their families stuck in east Germany while also living in free west Germany. The Cold War pitted the worlds super powers against each other, the United States and the Soviet Union used Berlin as strategic pawn in the international game of Cold War chess. The Berlin wall built in the 1960s and would remain through the 1970s into the late 1980s. When the fall of the Berlin wall came it brought not just Germany, or Europe but also the world closer together. Come along on this journey of exploration into the history of the berlin wall and the Cold War german history. From world war 2 to David hasselhoff singing after the wall fell and Germany reunited.
