Man this arcade game is so underrated.
agreed
1:50 rip sharp mz car
I've always been a big fan of this game. Must have been a huge hit in Japan since it got such a plethora of ports for it there.
I first got to play it on the GameCube and loved it, although learning how to avoid the cats proved more challenging than I'd expected.
It was, as was Xevious and The Tower of Druaga
Mappy sure has a funky spinning animation and then gets dizzy after 1 second, LOL.
I got Mappy on the Pac-Man 35th Anniversary Plug N’ Play console and also on Namco Museum DS.
The worst part was in this game is that you end up getting surrounded by the Meowkies…
For me as cat😼 it consider best moment 😼🫦😽
The sharp mz700 one, Mappy and the Meowkies are rollerskates🤣
or even cars
The Game Gear version has the best game over screen, but the arcade version and the '90s home ports all have great high score screens, and the Famicom version is my favourite to play overall.
0:55 when a cat scratches me
My thoughts about the death animations
Arcade: Original.
Sord M5 / MSX: No spin animation.
NES / Famicom / Famicom mini: Pretty close as the arcade but not quite the same.
Sharp X1: The spinning part is skipped.
Sharp MZ-700 / Sharp MZ-1500: The death music is funny but it uses Mappy's bouncing sprite rather than his death sprite. and one more thing: > <
Sharp MZ-2500: The death animation is a bit slowed and doesn't match much well as the arcade's one.
Epoch Super Cassette Vision: Very slow music is so funny.
Fujitsu Micro 7 / FM-7: Same as in Sharp X1 one, but with the Game over being the same as in NES version.
NEC PC-6001mkII/SR / NEC PC-6601/SR: Looks pretty close like the arcade's one, but Mappy spins in 4 directions instead of 8.
NEC PC-8001mkII SR (1st): no pause upon losing a life.
NEC PC-8001mkII SR (2nd): Almost the same as the arcade version
Sharp X1 (New Version): Slightly slow spinning part.
Game Gear: Same as the Arcade version. in addition, it has a unique game over screen!
Game Boy / Super Game Boy: Very fast spinning of the NES version.
It will not say anything about Mappy Arrangement one becuase it is different, and neither the PSX, PC Windows, JAKKS Pacific or the DS versions because they're the same as the Arcade.
Life Lost, Round Failed, and Game Over
Pobre Mappy!
Mappy is not poor, I need to win 🐭
Yes a video game death comparision I might enjoy cuz I like seeing mappy getting killed by kitty
Same as me i love see kitty chase down mappy mouse and eat him😽😼
I actually created game where i play as goro cat trying with kitty to chase down AI mappy mouse and eat him😼
Oh great job then
I don't want to kill Mappy :)
Gamegear the best, just for the extra effort of giving us a nice picture instead of a black screen :)
I love Mappy. Poor mouse is cat food now!
It's what he gets for being a cop
😽 yummy
I always chase mappy down and eat him 😼
Mappy mouse never win
No guys, I did not to touch Red cats and gang of Pink Cats will not caught Mappy Mouse. Mappy Mouse will use Microwave door to attack cats I will get points for Mappy Mouse 🐭

I still have MAPPY for my PlayStation 2 in a compilation called NAMCO MUSEUM 😺👍.
If only this game would have been also
for the Commodore 64 and Amiga 😹.
For some reason, Mappy has been a good childhood game. I miss it a lot. Good times! Especially the NES version :)
Nice, I think my favourite is Sharp MZ-700
That's horrible the sharp mz - 700 you must like Sharp MZ - 2500

It is used in some games such as Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-Man and much more.

I always want to chase him down and eat him😼😽😹
Best moment😻😹😼

Actually Mappy never win 😼
my thoughts on all of them:
Arcade: classic!
Sord M5: slightly worse than the arcade
NES: very good
MSX: no spinning when a life is lost, but otherwise good
Sharp X1: weird death animation
Sharp MZ-700/1500: bit funky
Sharp MZ-2500: a bit strange...
Epoch Cassette: funny!
FM-7: the sound is awkward...
NEC PC-6001 SR: not my favorite...
New Sharp X1: okay i guess
Game Gear: very unique!
Namco Classic Collection 1: interesting soundtrack
Mappy Arrangement: i like the music!!
Game Boy: pretty good
Super Game Boy: good
PS1 / Namco Museum Vol. 2: the best one imo
Windows / Namco History Vol. 1: probably the worst in terms of sound...
Windows / Revenge of Arcade: arcade version with worse sound
Game Boy Advance / Famicom Mini: same as NES version
JAKKS pacific 7-in-1: my second favorite one on this list :) i also have the JAKKS Pacific 7-in-1 and its my favorite mappy version
Namco Museum DS: same as arcade
My favorite game over screen: Game Gear
Favorite death animation: PS1
Favorite version to play: JAKKS Pacific 7-in-1
Tier list:
X = Best
F = Worst
X: Sharp MZ-2500
S: NEC 8001, NEC 8801, Arcade (Namco Museum 1995), PS1, Sharp X1 (NEW)
A: Sharp X1 (Old), NEC 6?01, Arcade (Namco Collection)
B: Arcade, NES, Windows (Both Versions), Plug N Play, DS
