  • I always say the saxophone is a wind instrument, not a “tongue” instrument.
    This means that, especially, within the first 5 years of learning all your efforts should go into building a strong air support.
    I have found that being able to visualise our respiratory system is crucial for breathing more accurately when playing the saxophone.
    In this short clip I show you the position of the lungs and the diaphragm and how the diaphragm moves.
    Just knowing this, will help you tremendously in improving your breathing technique.
