- There is a certain level of guilt involved in throwing out a plant you hate. Sometimes you're just "over it". Whether it grew too large, got too ugly, or you just hate its stupid face, there is a way to fix that.
Step 1: Identify the problem
-take some time to actually find out why you hate your plant and identify 2 or 3 of the biggest issues
Step 2: Plan
-develop a detailed and effective plan to deal with each issue
Step 3: Execute
-do the plan, dawg
I was offered a Sansevieria Cylindrica (African Spear / Dracaena angolensis) plant that was going straight for the garbage if I had said no. Let's apply my 3 simple steps and try to fix this snake plant plant.

Remember to push up your glasses and say "um actually, it's a dracaena". Make me proud.
I usually trade plants that i don't like anymore for a new one or just leave it in the entry of my appartment complex for someone to take!
Much better! I love the African Spear plant. I named mine Queen Nzinga.
that instagram plug though

I like you and your videos. Thanks for posting. ❤
This showed up on my recommendations 3 days after chopped up a peperomia I couldn't stand anymore.... I'm taking it as a sign the universe agreed with my decision and I'm not a horrible plant parent~~
I kept mine in its 6” clay pot, and put it inside a larger slightly shallow pot with a macrame hanger and hung it up. The longer pieces draped immediately, and it looks great.
You may know by now, your snake plant was unhealthy. They like to be root bound and full dry before watering. Although rhizomes, there should be secondary roots of healthy. You did a bang up job with what you had to work with! How about an update?
The update is it's still alive. We still hate it. It's out being scorched in the sun right now. Still being unable to be killed. 🤷🏾♂️
@@KillThisPlant the struggle is REAL! Thanks! Really enjoying your content!
I had the same issue . I repotted it deeper too, but now I'm also going to try the velcro method. Thanks!
thanks for the video! just wondering what is that white stuff all over your other plants in the back ground?
Thanks for the tips, however I would appreciate more if you mentioned also what soil did you use or popped a link in the description. I have seen you doing that with other videos 😊
Thank you for the comment! Getting links is something I'm working on. I'm in Canada and I use Promix products which are only available here. Since most of my viewers are from the USA I want to be sure I recommend something with the same consistent quality.
Whenever I have an ugly plant I just start chopping it apart... 😄 today I chopped my black rubber tree in half.. it hurt so much but it had to be done, it was just a giant tall stem and it annoyed me for months now. Sanseveria are great for chopping up. I often just cut ugly unruly swords of mine (the 60-80cm varieties snake plant) off.
I love your variety of sanseveria. I want one! It looks weirdly delicious??
💚
What little plant ties do you use?
theyre velcro, and in my amazon store.
💚🌿
@KillThisPlant,
how to grow this plant to be spearry right like it is in a shop?
Thank god mine are much thicker and flawless outdoor without much maintainance
2 of those could have been braided & put in smaller separate smaller pots & kept or gifted.
You could send me your plants you hate 😊.
You must've just rescued this before filming. I have a hard time believing it was in such poor health under your care. It didn't have any roots and looked like it was potted up with literal dirt!
