  • Several viewers inquired about how to make slip for casting and asked me to make a video of the process. I'm running low on the slip I'm using now, so I decided to make more slip and made this video.
This video is made in the form of mixing porcelain trimming scraps and new porcelain clay. It may complicate the content of the video, but the attached text explains it in detail.
If you want to do it easily, it will be easier to make it from new porcelain clay. Once you have weighed the porcelain soil you are using and know how much water it contains, all you have to do is add 0.3% sodium silicate to the waterless "Dry Weight".
You will need a mixer to mix the slip, but please try to make it at your best ability.

Thank you for your Inquiry. That's a good question.
As in the video, usually, the container is filled with water and sprinkled with porcelain powder to allow it to settle naturally. The amount of water is such that the porcelain powder comes out of the surface of the water at the stage when all the porcelain powder is added. If you leave it overnight, the water will also soak into the porcelain powder protruding from the surface of the water. Stir this well and then the slip is complete. The next, add sodium silicate which amount is a 0.3 percent of the dry weight of the total porcelain powder
