こんにちは。　素焼きへのイッチン描きですね。　出来れば、素焼き前の生（削りが終わった段階）がベストです。 素焼きに出来るか出来ないかと言えば、私どもはやった事があります。　磁器土でも、陶土でも出来ました。でもやはり失敗もあります。　やはり、イッチンの線が白く乾燥して浮いてしまったり、施釉の前にはたきやコンプレッサーの圧縮空気で線が飛んでしまったり、最悪の場合は、本焼きしたのにイッチンの線が浮き上がったり。こうなると作品はお釈迦です。 　素焼きへのイッチン描きは失敗もする事があるとの事を認識した上でやり方を私の経験で説明をします。 　糊剤はふのりでしょうか？　私はＣＭＣは使った事がありません。 　 1．素焼きの表面の埃ははたきなどを使って落とします。埃があると、分離しやすくなります。 2．素焼きの表面を水刷毛で濡らし、素焼きに水分を含ませ、泥漿の水分が急に素焼きに吸われないようにします。 3．泥漿の調整。少し水分を多くします。　イッチン描きの線がギリギリまで薄くならない程度で。 　　泥漿が堅すぎると、素焼きに水分が瞬時に吸われてしまいます。 4．乾燥　イッチン描きをした作品をプラスチックケースなどに入れ、乾燥をゆっくりさせる。ケースの中に濡れタオルなどを入れておくのも、いいかもしれません。 　上の留意点に注意してもらえば、成功するかも知れません。　剥がれたイッチン線は取り除いて再度描き直してください。指で軽く擦って剥がれるようであれば、素地にしっかり食いついてませんので、施釉や本焼きで剥がれる事があります。 　後は、泥漿を白化粧土に変えて見たらいかがでしょう？　しつこいですがもう一点。　磁器土泥漿は乳鉢で擦ってますか？　乳鉢で擦ってやることで、粒子が細かくなり、又、泥漿の水分も均一になります。 　私は尺皿を失敗した経験があります。　出来れば、作品を作り直し、生でのイッチン描きをおすすめします。今回の作品は、イッチン描きはあきらめて、呉須の染め付けで仕上げればも問題なくいい作品になるはずです。 成功を祈ります。

Yes you can make slip with other clay and use them for casting. Times for casting will be usually longer than the porcelain slip. Good luck!

I'm not sure what your question is. If your question is about slip. I’ll give you about general ideas as follow: As for the soil use porcelain. Of course, clay can also be used. Dissolve porcelain with water and add sodium silicate to it. The sodium silicate (Water glass) adds 0.3% to the dry weight of porcelain soil. If it is clay, add 0.5%. Stir well with an electric hand mixer. Example: Condition: 10kg of the porcelain. The water content 25% Dry weight 7.5Kg. The sodium silicate is diluted 5 times with water. Procedure: Step 1. Make a golf ball size of porcelain with all porcelain and put into a bucket. Step 2. Pore water to the top of porcelain balls and leave the overnight. Step 3. The next day, drain the top water. Now you have fluffy porcelain. Step 4. Add the sodium silicate. Roughly add 2-3 teaspoons of it. Stem 5. Stir well with a hand mixer if you have. Now the slip is ready.

Hi! Luella It is a Japanese word. I don't know English word for it. Maybe, it isn't available in other countries. It made of plaster. I think you can make it with plaster. Make a flat round plaster about 20mm thick and then trim it. You can find the shape of "tocchin" in my video. Example at 5.41 in playback time. Thank you.

In the case of Japan, there are many companies which make or sell mold. I'm sure you can find them in your county too. I enjoy making my own plaster mold. I suggest you make your own if baked plaster are available. Start with a simple one, such as shot tumbler etc., Enjoy!

You can make slip with cray or porcelain. You have to add some sodium silicate into the slip. How much sodium silicate you add? I usually add 2 to 3 small tablespoon of sodium silicate as a simple method. Pro method: If you want to make slip with 10kg of porcelain and let say it contains 25% of water in it. 10kg x 75%=7.5 kg =dry porcelain. 0.3% of dry porcelain (With cray 0.5%) is the amount of sodium silicate you add to porcelain slip. 7.5kg x 0.003=22.5g 1. Make golf ball size of porcelain with 10kg of porcelain. 2. Put porcelain balls into a bucket and put water. Make sure, water cover all balls. 3. Leave it overnight.(about 12 hours) 4. Discard the clean water and then add 22.5g of sodium silicate. 5. Mix it well with a hand held mixer. Now slip is ready for the casting.

Hello! Thank you for your inquiries. You don't have to use the Mino-shi nor Hyoutan Zumi at all. It is a old Japanese method for the traditional kiln (Kamamoto) to paint a large quantity of the same product . As you stated please use a tracing paper and carbon paper. For the ink, ordinary carbon paper is good enough (less oil contained carbon paper is better). Only draw back is your have to trace the lines one by one and it is very time consuming process for the pros. I don't know the detail of the Mino-paper. It is very strong paper. Use any Korean made paper and Indian ink. Trace any pattern you want to paint with a pencil and then flip the paper and trace the lines with indian ink. Place the traced paper on a biscuit (unglazed) and rub the surface. If this does not work, Use a paper and a pencil. If you are drawing single work, do it with a tracing paper and carbon paper.
