"Happy Birthday Mr.Christian" is a very long song. Brenda and Susannah Melvoin (Wendy's twin sister) carry the vocals. They both carry the vocals on "Blue Limousine" too...they sounded good together. A lot of the Brenda tracks on this album are the stand outs! "Some Kinda Lover" and "A Million Miles( I Love You) are two of my faves.
@johnnierock10 I agree with you.. Prince really should have made Brenda sing more, and the group should have been Brenda 6.. To me, Vanity and Apollonia were the face of the group. Their vocals weren't good to me... Brenda voice reminded me of TBoz from TLC.. Overall, Prince had faith in them.. and we will truly love and miss him dearly.
One of my fav albums of all time. Brenda was a professional singer before Vanity 6. Susan didn’t sing she talked her way through her songs while Jill Jones covered most of the actual singing. They even say that Susan’s microphone on tour wasn’t live and Jill Jones sang for her behind the curtain. Apollonia was an actress never intended to sing until Purple Rain. I’m friends with Apollonia she’s an amazing kind person. Susan lives in Florida and owns a resteraunt with her son. Brenda lives in Rhode Island and released a few solo CDs in the past few years. Including a remake of BLUE LIMOUSINE. 💜 I chat with her on messenger frequently and she is a painter and such a kind Woman.
The point of the V6/A6 albums wasn't the singing. It was just a vehicle for Prince to get his creativity out. He knew Susan Moonsie couldn't carry a note, so he had her "rap" her lyrics
yo i love 'ooo she she wa wa'!! the second part (when it slows down) is not musically my favorite but I find that Susan's rapping fleshes out a great character nonetheless. But the first part is above sex shooter or blue limousine imo, i love this song's chorus to pieces

Keep in mind Prince was control freak and behind both albums. So how he felt his catalog on social media not getting the monetary the artist deserves he was for that. I never had really listen to the full Appollonia 6 album. Don't remember the songs but the first track is my favorite prince productionis always off the hook.
This was a decent album. They should have made Brenda the lead singer. But I get why Apololonia was chosen instead. The heavy funk tracks are the best .
