I have a 2019 crewcab fx4 lariat for last nearly two years. My favorite truck ever! Great power, killer stereo, avg 22mpg and a beast offroad and in snow. Thank you Ford!

If this had the FX4 package it wouldn’t have the 4X4 sticker...it would have the FX4 decal and “Terrain Management” button in the middle of the 4X4 control knob, plus skid plates underneath.

Really wish they would have put the 2.7 Ecoboost from the F150 in the Ranger. 325hp and 400lb ft would make that little truck scoot!

Yep I was thinking that too but only because I'm tired of the 4 cylinder engine I prefer a V6 but with a tune the 2.3L puts out some good power using 93 octane

Prices for used Rangers are insane right now. 38k for a 2019 XLT with 32000 miles nuts! Decided to just buy new. Picked up my 2022 Cyber Orange XLT with FX4 and splash package. Love the truck. No discounts to speak of right now. At 43770 MSRP it was pretty steep price to pay but everything costs more now and you can't take it with you anyway!
I know what you're saying by the insane prices for these. I recently paid $39395CAD for a silver 2020 Ranger XLT with a couple of extra's like sprayed-on bed liner, tonneau cover, power folding mirrors, new Bridgestone Dueler tires and overall it is in really good clean condition with 66780kms on it.
I did test drive a couple of gently used Colorado's but I just found this Ranger felt best fit for me.

I just got a 2021 Ranger Lariat FX4 crewcab shortbed yesterday, carbonized gray with blacked out trim (no chrome anywhere). It looks badass on the outside. The inside is...eh...could use some improvement. There's a lot of plastic everywhere, and the seats are leather but some slippery type. The leather on the arm rest is not 'soft touch' but 'slippery touch'. The center shift handle should have had lighted indicators for what gear position is in. The technology package didn't include the Co-Pilot 3.0 system that other new Fords have. But the seats are powered and heated, and the stereo is a rock'n 10 speaker B&O system that sounds great. Overall, I'm very happy with it. I will get a Snugtop shell for the bed.

No FX4 sticker? Tow capacity is 7500 lbs on all Rangers.
I have a 2019 Lariat. My biggest issue is the lack of memory seats and the sliding rear window is not power sliding. It would be nice to have a dampened tailgate too.

So i could easily be wrong but I think this is just a standard 4x4 version not the FX4 package. A bed liner and running boards are included on the FX4.
Just picked up this truck in Platinum Tri-Coat. 2020 reduced from 47k to 39k out the door. People love to rip on Ford for how much these cost, interior refinement, etc.
First off NEVER pay sticker. Buy at end of model year.
The interior is meant to be utilitarian. This is a better Jeep. Just as fun and more comfortable.
No complaints on the engine and 10 speed tranny. It is tuned for low end torque. Drive it how it is designed to be driven and it will reward you.
My wife and I also have a 2020 RAM Lonestar 1500 4x4 and we fight over who drives the Ranger.
do you use regular gas on it? or you use 91 prenium?

Really would be nice if you would pop the rear seats up and do a little more indepth with the back seat area.
Is the truck good for towing? At what point are you pushing the truck excessively
No under the back seat storage? Or is that something unique to the Maverick?
Why don't you speak about the mechanicals? It is a truck. Engine options, sizes? Rear end gearing?
You're missing to point out so many details my friend. The rearview mirror is electrochromic. The ambient lighting in the door lever changes to red when door is opened or not closed properly at night or when the headlights are on to signal the occupants which door is open when alerted on display on dash. There's half a dozen hidden features about the Ranger that only a true car enthusiast will learn and would actually find out if they spent the time with it and would want to pass ot on to the viewers to give them true representation of how much engineering went into making the Ranger.
I didn't see anything about the key fob either. Remote start? Keyless entry? These TH-cam guys will spend 5 minutes talking about the embossed emblem in the tailgate, but never bother getting to the actual engineering involved with the owner / driving experience. Thanks for pointing out some of those differenciators.

I had a couple of cars with that gear shift option and neither car I have ever used it. I have heard that is usually bad for a transmission. I think it's better to just leave it in drive and let it be.
It’s probably bad for a transmission if you don’t know what you’re doing. The buttons are annoying though, an up or down click manual mode would be sportier.
On the Ford though, you can actually use those clickers to limit how many gears the transmission is using temporarily. You can use all 10 or set it so it only shifts as high as 8 or 5 or whatever. Good to stop gear hunting for towing I suppose. My transit van at work does the same.
Seriously there’s no driver/front passenger auto express down/up power windows? I see only drivers is…and on a lariat trim?
41k is alot to spend on a 27k truck. 🙄

Not a bad price but kinda surprised that at 40k the rear window is manual. With the success of the Ranger and the Colorado/Canyon i wonder if Ram is going to bring back the Dakota. One of them with a baby Cummins would sell really well I think.
Dakota was in works, rumored to be cancelled though. Dodge boss saying get a Gladiator instead.
The Gladiator is cool but the problem with that is it starts around 7-8k more than the Ford, GM and 'yota. A new Dakota in the 25-26k base range would do really well.
@@rustlesee Stellantis has cancelled the Ram Dakota because the company wants to towards towards Electrification.

It's a nice mid-size truck, but no imo it's not a luxury truck, it's a bit oudated.

For real! This has the same steering wheel and gauge cluster as my 2013 Edge!
Good job. Still undecided. The interior seems pretty bland. The stitching and stickers were not enough to sell me on it. We'll see what the '22 model brings to the table, hopefully Ford will listen to customer feed back.
Better than the Colorado in some spots. I wouldn't call it a luxury truck so much but compared to the Frontier, Tacoma, and Colorado, you get more interior extras. For whatever reason, none of the manufacturers consider these smaller trucks or 'city trucks', or the people who buy them as wanting the extras and don't load them up as much as the full size trucks with the same trim name. I think because these are considered city trucks and not farm or work trucks, you don't need all the extras. Just my theory.
Taillights are a deal killer along with other things. There bigger than the freakin super duty!
I dig them. Especially since so many hipsters are too busy texting on their cellular telephones while trying to drive. I want them to take notice, so they don't plow into me.

Would really appreciate a slightly larger motor for those who what the option...how about a 3.0 turbo...that would really raise the bar. An updated interior would also be nice since this has been on the “world” market for a while. Give the US first choice for a change Ford.
It doesn’t NEED a larger engine.
The 24 ranger will have a 3.0 turbo 2.7 and the 2.3 as motor options

The cabin noise level is way worse than average. when I test drove the truck, I thought there was a window open. The center console is useless. Even in good light you can't find the switches. the panel needs to be tilted up slightly. like most to the new cars and trucks now. I like how the truck drives and handles. I am not sorry I bought It. mm

I’ve been driving a manual ranger for about 6 years so needing to settle for automatic is a bit of a downfall but it might be time

The F-150 is just huge and expensive. I like the Ranger, but the engine sucks. I like the Maverick, but AWD generally sucks. At least give it a locking rear.
They’re so close, but then seem to neuter some models, to try and up sell you.
Which leads me to want none of them and just get an old Frontier
You can order it 2wd and order the locking differential.. Have fun fixing all the broken things in the old Frontier.. :)

He also missed the fold down rear headrest not a very good description of the Ranger overall many more goodies including the only vehicle that can keep up with the 4 x 4 system is the jeep Rubicon Toyota failed And there are rear frame supports for the back of the tire and the front of the tire right behind the bumper preventing the Front bumper from being shoved into the tire unlike Toyota rendering it useless had a Toyota 10 mile an hour impact unable to drive the vehicle

Does anyone else love these videos but have a minor annoyance that he always revs the engine 2 seconds after starting it? Let it run for a minute and get good oil pressure. Especially when it is cold and the oil has high viscosity. It will be really helpful to the longevity of the engine!

Do you really want to own a truck that is equipped with an oil pump that is not self priming?
According to what I found online, you need to avoid letting the oil drain from the pan any longer than ten minutes. Otherwise, the oil pump empties and it can cause catastrophic engine damage 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I wonder what other surprise features come with this truck???
Michael H, so Ford told you this???? I have never heard of any oil pump that is not always primed... The oil pump Pickup is always sitting at the bottom of the oil pan, immersed in several quarts of oil..
How many Rangers have had this so called Problem that it has never been mentioned before?????

Toyota >Ford for longevity, reliability, resale,and low cost of ownership. Thats why Toyota is number 1. That's why they have never quit producing the tacoma unlike the ranger. Bad sales and couldn't compete with toyota. I have never seen a old ranger on the road but see old Toyota tacomas and before they were called tacomas all the time. That should tell you something
I see alot of old Rangers on the road. I had 2 Rangers and they were solid trucks with zero issues. If it were not for the turbo I would take a Ranger any day over the Tacoma.
