    Thanks for the tip, I'm restoring an Atari Space Riders at the moment, lots of dodgy sockets. You have a great voice for this kind of thing.

      I have the same Atari Space Riders sockets, I'm not sure who supplied Atari with these but the whole base sort of falls off the mount! I've had to sand and solder a lot of these over the last few days! Nice instructional video!

    You can also use a Q tip, and moisten it with CLR, then use a second Q tip to dry it out. Makes it look and work like new.

      Thanks for mentioning it. I have never tried that, but now i want to. Because i reusing these sockets for my homebrew build, i may have to use this to clean them.

    The fiber washer will dry out and be loose spoiling the contact

    I imagine it's not feasible to do this in-situ?

      Depending on the space you have to work with - it's often quicker and easier to desolder the socket.
