Great Video I am in a very similar situation in life as yours I have 2kids week on week off busy work schedule feel like I need and want more out of life and very interested in if I can do something like a 70.3 I have never done any swimming this is inspiring to me and it’s motivating me I have ran in a half marathon with close to a 2 hr time but I currently am not fit lol thank you i believe I will be buying a heart strap and trying my best to pick something to set a date to do something anything this video was just what I needed let’s do it
Yeah I say set big goals and chase them. I think it will help drive you in a new direction. I’m actually signed up for my next 70.3 now and a full marathon this year.
Insane accomplishment and great video! I have zero triathlon experience and just signed up for a 70.3 Ironman in Mexico in late september. This is the first video I am watching; super excited for the journey.
@@keyanahhines7321 @marcoechandi9606 it was an incredible experience!!! Finished it in 6 hours and 30 minutes and crossed the finish line with my dad (we trained together every day for the 5 full months prior to the race), which made it 10x better. On mile 10 of the run I had nothing left in me, but kept going and got it done. It’s for sure a mental battle, but the energy/vibe/environment on race day is so amazing that you just keep going. Have you guys signed up for one?
Congrats on setting and accomplishing such a strenuous goal. You haven't missed much on FloydsFork - its been super low since August and cooled off fast. But at least they just stocked it with rainbows, so there's fun to be had if the bass aren't biting.
Great video! I'm doing my first Ironman 70.3 this summer, and you summed up my feelings of failure perfectly. It's probably the first thing I have ever attempted where I really don't know if I can do it.
I had gels that I had bought and trained with but I also stopped at one aid station where they had orange slices and bananas. My tri suit had pockets on the lower back where I could place my nutrition.
@@steve_hikefishski it was hard. I actually waded some streams more than anything. The cool water felt good on the legs 😄. Thanks for the comment. Best of luck with your training.
Great video. I do hear a lot about zone 2, but mine makes me run so slow, like waking. So i feel if i follow that my progress would be so slow, and also feel that i can give much more than that. I have 7 months to 70.3 from couch and im 42
That zone 2 is so important especially by the time you get to the run. You will be tired. Just have faith. Try to integrate zone 2 into your training. Do a cycle then transition into a zone 2 jog.
I’ll probably did about 30% of my time outdoors. Main purpose of my outdoor training was to get used to being on a actual bike. Also had to get used to riding in the TT position. Now I actually have Zwift and hooked up my bike to it and it’s a bunch better for training. The nice thing about the peloton though is it’s really fun with the instructors and such.
Thanks for the reply, been on my bucket list but like you have zero swimming and biking experience. Appreciate your post, I’m trying to get the courage to do it and posts like this help.
I started out keto and transitioned into a more balanced diet using a macro calculator and adding calories as my training increased. I tried to listen to my body.
Good to see you back! Congrats on a monumental accomplishment! You really got outside and did something awesome!
Thanks. Got out to the creek and got some nature therapy. Need to do some work on the boat and get it back out.
@@RhinoJoeOutdoors took the kayak out today and got skunked. I can't catch a fish when I'm filming.😝
@@TheOutdoorNavigator we’re you at the KY river?
@@RhinoJoeOutdoors yeah me and the family were camping close, so I snuck of to wet a line.
Good job! That’s definitely a great accomplishment. Keep it up!!
Thanks! That’s why I hadn’t made much as far as videos. Looking forward to getting back into the TH-cam deal
Proud of ya buddy. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks! Need to get back out and make some fishing stuff. I went to the creek today and it was so low!

It was so So LOW yesterday. I went for a bit and realized I’d just walk around and take some pictures and just enjoy the scenery.

Great work! I’m currently prepping for 70.3 Indian wells 💪🏼
Thanks Jake! Do you have any goals for it?

This was helpful as to what you would do different. I would love to know what you did for nutrition on the bike???

Cool video thanks. I fish too. Did you get out on the water at all during training? Gonna be hard to fit in fishing time with training/working.

@@derekppal3435 my main advice is to get in a pool. Watch videos by effortless swimming. Just focus on breathing and becoming comfortable.
How much do you charge to smell your socks? Asking for a friend. Thanks, Toby
So what did the diet actually evolve into, Ryan?
I started out keto and transitioned into a more balanced diet using a macro calculator and adding calories as my training increased. I tried to listen to my body.
