- The Simon and Garfunkel classic done by Prog Rockers Yes. The new singer (Davidson) was better than I anticipated even though I'll always miss Jon being in the band. He did a well job though. An instant Yes classic though I'm still waiting for "On The Silent Wings Of Freedom." Someday I hope! A $5 show at Artpark. How could you go wrong?

I was 7 years old the first time I heard Yes. My father was listening to Close to the Edge. When I walked into the house and heard the music ,I was Mesmerized. At age 13 I had all their albums At age 16 I had the privilege to meet Jon Anderson. A moment in my life I will never forget.

Excellent show. THANK YOU for posting!!!!
THIS SOUNDS FANTASTIC! AND THE VIDEO IS CRYSTAL CLEAR!!! OUTSTANDING.
This was an awesome show...I was there! :D
I was there also. Fantastic show!! Steve Howe is pure talented dedicated genius! Chris Squire is also amazing and probably doesn't receive the recognition he definately deserves.
My Sis and BIL saw Yes at a venue near Cleveland just a few years ago, My Sis said that Steve How looked like the Cryptkeeper, but how he could play! Just as good as ever!
Absolutely marvelous!
Geeez, dude... too bad you weren't any CLOSER !
Holy crap. ;-) Great video.
That was friggin amazing - how I love that!
The song is actually by Paul Simon, it's Yes' version that throws the "west side story" winks. Great video, thanks!
Great song. Great cover. Great band.
thank you for all the references
Earcatching Guitarmastery from a Genius of our time....
I do love an ES-175.
The idea for the arrangement actually came from 1-2-3 (Clouds) years before Yes, as Jon himself has admitted. I still love the invention and musicianship of the band though - I'm a Yes fan.
Artpark Thunderstorm..YES ..Is aThunderstorm in itself..wow well the lewiston sheriff dept.jumped the gun..But Yes was just devine...I got there at 3:00 (in the heat) met old friends and new friends and very intence YES fans..and great night ..Proco Harem was Excellent!
This live version of America sounds pretty good actually. One of the gems from the Yes archives. America just doesn't get its due because it was never on an album of its own (recorded during the Fragile sessions). It was released on the compilation album Yesterdays.
I wish I got there in time for PH. I saw them open for Tull a while ago but I agree it would have been nice to see them again. We still got enough good Yes to make it worthwhile though. $5 are you kidding me?
I'm so sorry I missed that show.. And now chris squire is gone... They do that song solo good.
I can't believe over 2000 people have watched this so far. Thank you for noticing this gem I was able to capture this past summer! Keep enjoying my videos. I promise to share as many as I can!
This was America ...
Wanna go so bad to Aug. 12 show... but it's about 10 miles east of Seattle and I'd need a ride back to Tacoma after show.
Anybody ? I'll pay ya !!!
why is it that all we can see is below the band's knee's?
Well, mostly true although Squire does briefly quote Bernstein.
When you see Steve Howe play, you just gotta say "Eddie Van Who?"
+Chris Jenkins this is true!
Not on this one though. He sounds tired. I still love Steve Howe.
So passionate!!!...:)O(:...
At about 6:49 I'm really groovin'!!!...:)O(:...
Bernstein??? Err...no. Squire adds a little riff from America from West Side Story (originally from the Yes cover of Something's Coming), But this is the Paul Simon version here, which Yes had been covering almost since their inception. Nice version.
correct
t's too bad the video was so close to Steve, as it's tough to hear Chris' bass. Who were the keyboardists? Is it rick Wakeman and son Oliver? The lead singer did a wonderful job, Jon Anderson has the voice of an angel, and it's tough to replicate that!
4 words.......
Steve Howe Guitar legend
I first head this version of America on a sampler album called "The New Age Of Atlantic". Then on their 1st or 2nd American tour. You know, I've said it before. The original stuff was so much better. Infact, Just find watch & listen to the original version of this song right here on TH-cam & then tell me I'm wrong. If you disagree well of course you are entitled to your own opinion. If I seem disgruntled It's because I hate when the good stuff gets buried by whatever is going on at the moment.
I hear you
understood!
Is the cameraman asleep or is he having a stroke or drunk.
I agree and have been sayin if not RW then Igor then Brislin.
I've never heard them do "Something's Coming." I know that from Todd Rundgren's Utopia version from Another Live 1975. I didn't know that Yes did that then converted to doing the S&G cover. Thanks for the info though. Think of all the rock and rollers that don't even know what we're talking about? Time to do your musical research for all you that are confused. Great musicians usually cover great music most of the time...
Camera operator , were you drunk or stoned while filming this?
just a snippit.
The inspiration for this version of America came from the band 1-2-3 (later CLOUDS) as recently admitted publicly by JON ANDERSON. According to Jon, Clouds was his "favourite band" (Record Collector magazine 2015). Listen to the much earlier version by 1-2-3 live at the Marquee as on TH-cam and you'll hear the clear influence. (you can also hear the influence on Bowie's performance of this song at the Concert for New York). But it's true to say that YES also were obviously fine musicians who also stretched the boundaries of late 60s Rock.
cmon steve hit the overdrive pedal wtf!!!!
Again with the slow tempo... but at least they are much tighter:)
Slower and tighter is better than sloppier and faster!
Steve Howe❗
Lighten up. It was a free show. They don't play it as fast as they used to. They could just stay over in England instead of touring if that's way you feel about it. I've seen better Yes shows too, but be happy they are still trying to play their music for people these days. Especially fans that appreciate it.
Davison is very good, but his voice lack Anderson's grainy power. Not meaning to belittle this performance. Still very good, but not quite the same. I wish Steve's fingers were still as nimble, but it's to be expected as he advances in age. Still solid, just not as ridiculously fast. Chris's voice never left him, and his bass playing was still there. RIP Fish.
We take what we can get because we love the music.
Pat Moraz and Sound Chaser!
i think Igor could do a good Sound Chaser too and maybe Tom.
Come on Steve -play that song again! Call Patrick...
Thank you for sharing, although I love Yes, this just doesn't sounds good. Thank god i never paid a show to see them live like this.
you probably shouldn't ever go again then.
nobody forced you to watch this. no haters in the niche!
I didn't pay ever but you think I ever complain?
Steve Howe... still kicking it after all these years... New fake Jon much better that the last fake Jon... Yes Lives!
The video made me sea sick.
me too
Who's drumming? I know it's White but ...
This was sad to listen to.without Jon you can hear how mundane the band sounded.Steve played like he had other things on his mind.
2:02
10:24
Wow, Steve AND Chris. 🙄
Not really Yes to me without Jon Anderson. Music sounds good, though😉
lousy camera work
Gosh! Davidson is spot on with this classic stuff. I just wish Heaven and Earth had been a little more exciting. I liked Fly From Here, but H&E is like Yes Muzak, not horrible, but probably the lowest point in their career to date. On a side note, it's nice to see Howe looking a little less frail here. Maybe it's the lighting, but he looks good, more like his younger self.
