    Decades ago, I was dumbfounded by the resolution on the 80mm prime on my 500C. This lens has to be better than the older lenes.

    An interesting review - as you infer, Hasselblad have 'cracked' the wide angle aspect with their V lenses on the X system. What would be great would be a prime V lens int the 120-140mm space. Many thanks.

    Thanks again for a perfect review. I’m not usually a fan of zoom lenses. I’m a landscape photographer and this lens interests me. When I acquired the 25V I kept the 21. My dealer notified me this morning that I’m on the list.

    I am waiting for the 20-35, and I look towards to it with high expectations. I sold the 38 mm V, but not fully satisfied with this one, though it is a fantastic lense. Vignetting was a problem. I wonder why. Thanks for å nice line-up of Hasselblad.

    👉🏻 Can’t wait for another P series lens, a 65mm Portable pancake f4 lens would be amazing to have with the 28p 🫶🏻 I have the 65 and the 28, I wish to have two option : ultra portable and fast and another one for the studio and pre-meditated shooting.

    What are your thoughts on Hasselblad not including the manual focus clutch like the V series lenses? I find it to be very convenient to use on my XCD 25V particularly with the hyperfocal distance scale. With the "Exclusive" line being the top of the line series, I would expect all the bells and whistles.

    Great to see some sensible, real-world confirmation that the lens is sharp enough in the corners at both ends of its zoom range. I am testing the lens at present. I have two issues with it. One is the genuinely abysmal lens hood. Oh my goodness is it atrocious. For £5,700 Uk it barely fits and barely stays in situ. It is no answer to say don't use it. It is just unacceptable at this price point to have something as tatty as this offering. Why, oh why, for such outlay can we not have a hood as good as that on the 90V ? The second issue is price. I am testing with a view to switching from my GFX. The GF 20-35 is about 40% the price of this lens, lighter, weather sealed and it is every bit the match of this lens. So far, I am just not seeing a clear advantage to the XCD lens to allow my heart to triumph over my head. It is gorgeous to hold and use.

    Can you tell me what battery performance you get out of your X2D please? I am only getting 80 - 120 images on a 100% charged battery. Settings are basically factory settings. I have turned off WiFi and the screen brightness is 50%. Hasselblad are telling me that there is nothing wrong with the camera but surely the batteries should last longer? I have 3 batteries and the performance is the same which suggests it is the camera at fault.

    Hmm this vs existing cluster of wide primes from hassy. How would you use or trade off this vs the 25/38 v. Holding out for an update of their std zoom . Would be interesting if when they produce something like at 38-65mm zoom

    This looks amazing. That said I just bought the 25V, which is faster and better suits my low light work. More importanty, when I shot Canon's amazing 16-35 I shot everything at 16mm. Ruined the whole point of a zoom.

  • @jeffmiller6343

    I feel like Hasselblad gets a pass where other manufacturers would get highly criticized. This is a variable aperture lens for over $5K. Imagine if Sony produced a GM lens at 16mm - 28mm F2.8 - F4.0, the headlines would be brutal. I am not denying that this is a great lens, just commenting that we don't hold premium cameras to the same standards.

    • @fotografalexandernikolis
      @fotografalexandernikolis หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      These lenses also include leaf shutters, and variable aperture really doesn't matter for landscapes and architecture which this lens is made for. For context the Hasselblad cameras can't even shoot video at all, which would otherwise be a case where variable aperture is bothersome. It's less about not holding them to a high standard and more about them just being made for completely different use cases.

    • @mcelliot
      @mcelliot หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jharrelphoto I am not so sure about that. There is only limited information regarding the usefulness of MF cameras in MW photography. Without doubt, the pixel pitch on the X2d and the GFX 100Sii is less that it is on, say, a Canon R5 (3.5 vs 4.3) but that does not write them off as astro cameras. Both canon and Nikon have wide zooms FF with 2l8 max aperture, and Hasselblad of course has the 25 2.5. I have not yet had an opportunity to try this sort of combination before writing off MF cameras as 'just aren't good for astro'. Have you tried them personally ?

    • @jharrelphoto
      @jharrelphoto หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mcelliot personally I have not tried one for Astro. I have seen the results though and they are just ok. If you use a star tracker then it looks good. But for single exposure milkyway full frame can’t be beat because of the wide aperture lenses. Trust me I’m not hating medium format I would love to be able to go backpacking with an x2d and the 25mm if I were to know the results would equal my Sony a7cr. But it won’t.
