I have a limited edition 33 gold. Nice reel. I have several 44 L models I bought years back. They are nice for small creek fishing. What I liked best if you make a "wild"cast. You can use the trigger for brake to stop the line. I haven't seen a new trigger spin in years. Only seen Diawa models. Good fishing.

You are so right - the small creek fishing is what Zebco should really market for this reel -- it's so... so... good for that aspect - I wish they would really step it up and really improve the build quality with materials and make this the ultimate market leader in the space !

These are great for teaching young kids to fish...they don't accidentally let go of the rod when they cast. They are also pretty trouble free.

Exactly -- it's a great reel system especially for Kids !!

I got one of the silver one for 18 bucks at walmart and love it such a fun reel. My 500 spining reels always get tangled up and this thing never has a problem im in love with it for blue gill bait fishing.❤

Me and my 5 yr old are new to fishing. I bought this for him because it is light. It reels up counterclockwise. Why? Is there a way to switch this around?

I’ve never noticed … interesting as that may explain my line twist when spoiling it up… for the love of… let me know what you find out as I’m sure it can’t be changed with this reel.

That's a great idea - I'll start doing that... for some reason, I never thought of doing such. Thanks for the comment.

can you use 5lb nano braid on that reel?

I don’t know if these type of reels will work very well with that crazy thin braid … I would say no … but it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try and see what happens.

It aint designed for grown folks

Thanks for the comment -- but I don't agree ... as these are tools for the fisherman, and I wish Zebco would take their craft a bit more seriously and try to own the market a bit better in their space. They have the history and potential to do some great things - but it seems they are a bit lost in their goal.

@@JSturrNew ain't always better. Remember folks still like the vw beetle better the caddie. You didn't explain why you returned the 33 to Walmart. Suggest less pessimistic and maybe gain viewers.😊

@@pawpaw5717 Good comments -- the Silver edition had less bearings than the Gold -- so I returned the Silver thinking/knowing that the Gold would perform overall much better - and the Gold has performed much better.

There’s such a thing as grown folk with small hands.
