I was at the store today returning my broken 33 platinum. I picked up one of these and another platinum 🎉. Im going to take both apart and lube them before use. Thanks for the excellent videos!!
@@OutFishing13Matthew I also broke the 2nd 33 plat. Broke the trigger button on both. I was very careful not to physically break it. Fairly sure it was just from regular use

I’m not much of a fisherman or even outdoorsy. The Zebco is for my little one who likes to go to a local pond. Willard Bay is nice. My uncle, who was an avid outdoorsman, used to take us boating there as kids back in the 90s.
I haven’t had my Zebco mini trigger very long. Thanks for the video. Mine definitely needs service. I think the 4 pound test line they put on from the factory must be the cheapest they could find or this reel has been sitting on the shelf so long the string is no good. The string gets wound up in front of the spool around the shaft and chokes up all reel function. I cleared the mess out the first time and pulled out line until I got to fresh line. I tested the reel and it casted like a dream the first few casts. The faith or sixth cast it made the same mess again. I think it must have a piece of old line still inside choking the reel function or I need to clean and lube and install the best 4 pound test line I can find.
Are you talking about the front cover? It has a couple little notches in the front of the reel and the cover has little locking nubs. Fit those together and slightly twist.
@@OutFishing13Matthew Thanks for your reply. Well, I finally got it on and I saw all the little nubs and tried every position possible or at least I thought. Finally, I had it lined up just a certain way I guess (after I don't know how many minutes) and it went right on. I remember having this issue a couple of years ago with this thing. I really like this light and small size reel other than that issue. I mostly use spinning reels but my disabled (adult) kids have a hard time with those so this is my go-to. Thanks again 🙂

Yes, Tackle Service is done. Zebco removed the website and stopped maintaining it. Pretty sad. Contact Zebco.com and you can call them and order your parts over the phone. You will need to part number, so it you need a schematic, email them first. Good luck. When you call them ask them to bring back the website.
Very informative video. Lots of information. You indicated you could upgrade this reel by replacing the plastic (nylon?) Bushings for the handle drive shaft and gear with actual bearings. What would the size of these bearings be ? The main bearing is 1/2 X 1/4 X 3/16. The other two would be metric ( 10 X 6 X 3 mm I think.) Please clarify. Thanks !
Yes, those are the correct bearing sizes. I will do a video on how to super tune that reel. Here are the bearing sizes, with the Zebco and generic part numbers. Works for the following models: 11MA, 11GOLD, 33 Micro. Handle shaft: 6x10x3 mm (Zebco: BY097-01 Generic: SMR106ZZ) Pinion Shaft (Zebco: EY030-01 Generic: 1/4x1/2x/3/16 Inch SR188-ZZ). Bearing sizes are always listed in the following dimensions, Inner, outer, thickness. Thanks for commenting.
The Daiwa will be a size 30 reel and is well built. It is a standard size reel. Ptobably 3 to 4 bearings. The Zebco is a size 10 micro reel and is a nice reel too with 3 bearings I don't have a specific recommendation. Either reel will be great.
Looks like I will need to open mine up and take a look to make sure it has enough grease. I'm surprised there is very little grease if at all. What is your opinion on lithium grease for these reels?

Possibly. There are a couple of possibilities. The front cap is not on all the way and so the line is not get squeezed tight enough between the line brake and the back of the front cap. The other possibility is something is preventing the trigger from allowing the middle shaft to freely move.
Did you ever "Supertune" this? I can't find the video. I have a couple Triggerspins coming in the mail tomorrow and wanted to add some bearings. Do they take the same size bearing as the top button micros? I have a few of those left... Thanks for all the info you provide!

Got a new 1 of these today, after about 10 flawless cast , it would no longer cast . The pickup pins would engaged or would catch the line slightly. I took it apart, 3 times couldn't get it to work consistently. I got frustrated and slung it out in the middle of the creek and came home and cleaned my 20 year old plueger .
@@OutFishing13Matthew I don`t like this new version , it is hard to get the reel put back together ,and the fact i wasted the only afternoon i had off in 6 months bringing this lemon fishing has soured my opinion of them.
Is the super tune process the same as shown on your earlier micro 33 service video? With the obvious difference being the trigger instead of the button release. Bearings are the same?
I really like the Zebco 33... I have been catching Bluegill with it this year. Zebco is much better than Shakespeare, a little sand and the Shakespeare craps out, this has happened with three new reels. I've caught lots of wild trout out of streams, creeks and ponds. They are inexpensive too. Walmart sells them, for $25.00

take some line off first. You have too much on there try about 50 feet first and then try casting again.

I want to get my son a new trigger spin. I’m between the gold version of this Zebco and the Daiwa Underspin. Would you recommend one over the other?

Lithium grease is fine, but it is messy. I recommend Penn Reel Grease. You just need a little on the pinion gear and main gear.

Hey matthew do you know if the double handle crank from a pushbutton 33 micro will fit on a 33 micro triggerspin?
It should. As long as the two are the same years of models. The handle cranks are the same.

I just bought one of these and the trigger doesn’t work. Is there something I can do to fix it or should I just ask for a new one?
Never mind. I took the cap off and there was a lot of line bunched up on top of the spool.

oh yes. You would enjoy a Zebco Omega for fishing the Provo River. Or a Zebco Bullet.

To take the cover off just give it a little turn to the left. No this one ive got will not budge even trying to move it with water pump pliers.
