- Often people have various errors with their roomba or charging station usually from a lack of maintenance. Errors can include a bin error (not detecting a bin), roomba doesn’t self empty, brush error, roomba fails to dock by itself, error 8 from not cleaning the hepa filter or roomba doesn’t charge are the common ones. People forget that even a vacuum needs to be cleaned so that it will continue to perform well. We have owned roombas for over 20 years and have learned to maintain them with very minimal problems. We thoroughly clean our roombas about once every 2-3 weeks as we use our roombas daily. You can probably clean it less frequently if you use your roomba less often. If you maintain/service your roomba like we do (although video is 15 minutes, this process takes only 2-5 minutes), you will increase the likelihood you will have less issues with your roomba, and you will be happy with a cleaner home. We would love to hear from you if this works for you! Happy cleaning!

The video was incredibly informative; I didn't realize my cleaning wasn't comprehensive until I saw it. Thank you for demonstrating to Roomba owners the proper way to clean and maintain their Roomba vacuum. I appreciate you.
Adding the scented beads to the bags is pretty genius. Thanks for that.
You are very welcome and glad you found that tip helpful. In fact we got that tip from a colleague of ours, Roomba refuge that we want to give credit to, facebook.com/roombarefuge/
This is legit the best video I have watched on cleaning and maintaining my Roomba. I didn't even know that some of these parts came apart. Thank you!
Thanks so much! We really appreciate you taking the time to comment! We hope you subscribe to support our channel! Happy cleaning!
Very motivating video; I just wanted to know how to replace the filter, and I ended up deep cleaning the whole roomba 😂
That’s excellent! We are glad you enjoyed the video! Don’t forgot to subscribe! Happy cleaning!
Great video
Going to do ours today.
Our J7 is not emptying by itself.
Later today I cleaned it (wow a lot of junk)
What I found the orange valve flap was not seated correctly.
Thank you for the detailed explanation .
👍🏼👍🏼😎

I just did exactly what you recommended on your video to the specifications, it’s amazing how much junk I got out of there. Thank you so much for your insight. Much appreciated.

Follow up after my own cleaning thanks to this fantastic video. I would not have known how deep to go! I wish I knew how to upload photos of what came out of mine but it was triple what he showed so mine was way overdue!! Thank you again!!
We are glad to see that our video helped! People don’t realize some effort is required to keep the roomba performing well. The roomba could be vacuuming quieter too. Happy cleaning!
Wow thank you! Best video I have seen on how to clean/maintain! Super detailed and easy to follow! Thankyou!!!

You are very welcome! Yes it’s unexpected how much comes out of the roomba. People don’t realize that some work is required to keep the roomba working with minimal problems. We are glad it helped you! We would be interested to hear if it has helped your roomba to perform better too. Happy cleaning!
You need a vacuum to vacuum your vacuum. I found it funny lol. Thanks OP, the video was very helpful!
You are right! It’s a good balance when you have a handheld vacuum that vacuums your stairs and the roomba does everywhere else. Then the handheld can be used for vacuuming out the roomba. Anyway glad it was helpful! Happy cleaning !
This channel is underrated.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate your feedback!
Excellent, spot on, and remember - there are no shortcuts!
Thanks so much! Yes there are no shortcuts otherwise the roomba will be sure to “say something” or “not do something” to remind you!
Lol....i love how we need a vacuum for the vacuum. Im guilty have 3 vacums in house too
That’s excellent that means you have a very clean home!
We recommend cleaning the charging contacts, both on the charger and on the roomba, with eyeglass cleaning wipes as those are often made with isopropyl alcohol and it dries quicky and are readily available. Clean glasses and then roomba! :)
Great video!

Thanks! I am a new Roomba+ user doing some studying, and the tip about the self-emptying valve and loss of suction is my major take-away. Not seen that in other videos. Clear guidance throughout. Thanks again!
You are welcome! Thanks for taking the time to comment! Glad the video helped! Happy cleaning!
Thank you learn a lot😊

Thanks for sharing this! :)
You are very welcome! Hopefully this will help you maintain your roomba like we do!
I got a little lost when you took out the green rubber seal in the mop reservoir. I removed the screw, but didn’t see how you took out the green flap. Mine didn’t come out, even after I pulled on it a bit. Does it slide out? Also, how would your recommend cleaning the mop head pad itself? Thank you for this video! The amount of dirt I removed was astounding. Any recommendations for how often one should do this routine? I use my iRoomba every other day, and I have two dogs.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. We are glad you found our video helpful. The green flap sometimes gets stuck owing to a build up of debris underneath the flap. There is a clear clip that holds the flap in place. You need to gently pull out the flap with your fingers and if necessary put your fingers inside the dustbin to push up. It’s possible you might need to soak the entire bin in very warm water to help loosened it. Then try to remove it. As for cleaning, recommend every 2-4 weeks.
where is the j7+ exhaust located?
That’s a great question! Thanks for asking! It’s actually along the side of the charging tower. Will try to post a photo of it here
I mean to the vacuum (the robot) itself.@@CoastalBluffRoomba
@@brainguynyc8729when the roomba is vacuuming the exhaust is underneath the roomba, specifically behind the latch that holds the brushes in place. There’s a small opening there.
and the intake in front of the brushes? Fascinating design.@@CoastalBluffRoomba
The movement of air comes from under the main brushes through to the dustbin and then through to the hepa filter (the main brush module unit has a fan motor which you can see when you remove the dustbin).
