Pilot here. Learjet is an airplane manufacturer, rather than a type of jet. There are private jets made by other companies, like Beechcraft (Beechjet) or Gulfstream. Turners fleet were called Learjets not as a result of the time period but because they were all Learjet-35s.

It lasted less than a year because my upperline kept pestering me to bring in new recruits which I didn't want to do. If you wish to continue this series on pyramid schemes, I'd reccomend looking into the Albanian pyramid scheme debacle. When it came to a head, 2/3rds of the country embroiled in a pyramid scheme and it was so evidently bad that it prevented them from joining NATO for a while. They did end up joining in 2009 along with Croatia.

    • @dannydetonator

They've passed on but over the last 20 years my parents have been in and out of various multi-level marketing schemes and I tried to grapple with fact-based refutation of some of these scams and I always came up a little bit short and I couldn't convince them to step back and take a look at how bad things were. Once again, Sean; you have hit it out of the park. The level of detail and deep dive makes a topic that in all reality I could care very little about is amazing to the point where you inspire me to care about it. Spending a lifetime in church, I’ve always been aware of various different MLMs in operation. Some (like Avon) seemed more legit than others. Some friends and relatives have gotten involved in a few to varying degrees of success, but I don’t really have any horror or success stories. Either way, GREAT WORK and keep them coming! I never understood the cachet of Florida. It is notoriously uninhabitable, with horror show predators, a hotbed of tropical diseases and voracious insects, hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding. Why, i ask, would anyone live there? Why in the world would we send our vulnerable elderly there to die? To die? My oldest sister spent her final years there, (though my middle sister spent her final years in Alaska!?). Call me a coward, but after living up and down the East coast, i am happy right back here in the sensible midwest where we only have tornadoes and sense enough to provide ourselves with basements.

For one, the landscape is far more beautiful and vibrant than the midwest (particularly here in South Florida) and plus we never have to worry about dangerous winter weather like you do. There are pros and cons to every place.
Old people (snowbirds) choose to come here, they aren’t forced. I actually miss the way this state used to be before it became heavily overpopulated.

Oh. My. Goodness. I have been fascinated by Glen Turner since I was a child! We had a summer home in FL, and everything about GWT, Koscot, and even his castle was practically hypnotic, and I got my family to even agree to visit CFL in October so I could visit the Jaycee’s haunted house in Glen Turner’s castle, and one of the girls I knew and was friends with there’s mom sold Koscot Cosmetics, and I spent hours and hours for a few years talking with her mom.
I don’t know why I was so fascinated; if I had to put it all into words, it was because child me had a hard time believing GWT existed and figuring out how he fit in to the schematic structure I was building that describes how the world worked. His talks I got a hold of (cassette tapes) whenever I could, and my parents asked a few times if I was believing this stuff, or what, and after I convinced them that I simply found him fascinating, they chalked it up to one of my weird niche hobbies.
Thank you for covering him! It’s amazing to me how GWT just slipped away into obscurity; he was the kind of person who I would have thought would keep turning up like a bad penny for the entirety of my life.

I have a foggy memory from when I was a kid. The first time I saw Amway, I recall telling someone that detergent was already sold in stores. I've never seen it in my friends houses, and it would have to be everywhere for people to make money. I'm pretty sure that person was my mother

My sister's husband tried to "better his best" when they first got married. He could never talk anybody into joining under him. They even made me go to a meeting once. I was, like, 15, and bored stupid.

I would like to add that the cartoony rocket was a bit jarring after all the real-life footage, which I really enjoyed. I listened to the rest of the video like a podcast, so not sure if there were more cartoony looking snippets.

Man, it sure is awesome that you're seeing success practicing honest-to-god History without turning it "pop" or dumbing it down (that much). This subject especially is important with the manosphere being so prominent among boys and young men, it's pretty crazy that they've gone from hucksters like this, to motivational speakers like Tony Robbins in the '80s and '90s charging you to come see him speak, to Andrew Tate-style gurus simply selling online zoom meetings for the same price as an actual event. There really is a sucker born every minute.

    OHHH YESSSSS LETS GOOOOO
I genuinely get excited each time a see a new upload, I swear to god you could make these forever
and I would watch every single one
HOW CAN YOU MAKE THESE ONCE A MONTH???
I follow so many video essay changes that do stuff in a similar vein, and it can take them Half a year to put out something of this length and quality,
Are these young TH-camrs just lazy?
Do you just have the work ethic on lock?
This is probably the best new YT channel I have discovered in the past 2 or 3 years
I’m a history NERD, but you always manage to find some crazy interesting, relatively obscure topic to do ridiculous deep dives into
Congrats on 100k, it happened fast, here’s to another, or maybe even 2 before the end of the year!

    • @SeanMunger
      @SeanMunger  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Thanks! I wouldn't call anyone else on TH-cam lazy, as getting a viable channel going is a huge amount of work. I don't have any secret, really. I just plan out what I want to do, research it, and make it as good as I can, and I work diligently at a video until it's done. Maybe someday I'll do a video about my process.
