I love your dedication to relocating honey bees. As someone who recently learned about them and how valuable they are. I am glad there are people like you who save these creatures.
I have seen several of Yappy's videos and am amazed at how skilled he is at handling bees. He's a bona fide bee whisperer and usually manages them without any protective gear. He scoops up bees with his bare hands, and watching him is not only entertaining; it is mesmerizing and very educational.
Yappy, by looking at your Guardian jacket and gloves I would say that’s the very first time for you wearing that set. Those were white as snow! Terry at Guardian is a great guy!
I am such a huge fan of your work even though it's not work to you because you love what you are doing. And the knowledge you have is just amazing you were born to do this
I love watching 🐝 I plant flowers just for them. My Dad had bees his entire life so we always have fresh honey and he would go rob them whenever someone called. Very cool wrapped around the fence like that, you did an excellent job to 👍💗
More fun in the southland and we're getting ready for snow, a 'plowable event' the forecasters say, 3-6" possible. Thanks for posting and providing another bee-fix for the northland, peace, Brice
@@YappyBeeman I was in Louisiana in 1968 and an inch and a half shut the airbase school down for 2 days. My dad was stationed there for 2 years and being from the NH snow was not new for me. It can be quite beautiful and if you are a skier like myself it can be hard to get enough.
Love watching people that are experts with wild animals work. Its a skill that can’t really be taught only learned through first hand experience and a love for what they do. I have a good friend who is a trapper who I have worked for a few times when he needed an extra hand. Im going to be honest brother, I didn't even know you had a bee suit lol. You’re such a boss at man-handling these critters that I think they know you…….you’ve got some rep in the bee comunity.
That was the first time I ever used that particular one. I love it. Don't really use one much but I was VERY glad to have my Guardian bee suit that day. Them gurls were not happy with me.
I just started watching your channel yesterday sadly I realized no matter how much I want to be a bee keeper I am unable to do it due to my illness it's called myotonic dystrophy but I will keep watching your channel
You can tell you really care about the bees themselves when you're taking extra time trying to help out a couple worker bees not get smushed, out of tens of thousands of bees.
I actually just put them in one box when I got home with a double deep setup. It was too much room but if there was 2 queens I believe they would have separated into the 2 clusters again even though they were boxed. I only found the one Queen and they were all clustered together the next day. I think the swarm was too big for the small bush was why there were 2 separate bundles
I know. But this one required it with the temps being low. They weren’t going to move on their own and helping just pisses them off. But glad I had the suit for sure.
Yappy, I'm not trying to be rude, but is your right hand (on screen... it might be left in real life) like that from being stung so much or was it always that way? I hope you don't take offense to my question. I really appreciate all your videos. I'm a 100% disabled veteran of the USAF and USArmy and I really want to get into beekeeping. My wife wants me to buy a Nuke or established hike, but I was really hoping to catch my own swarm. What advice would you give me for my first hive? I've built a top-bar hive that I was thinking would be easier to use as my first hive, but now I'm not so sure. Thanks in advance for any advice you are willing to give and Shalom Aleichem!
Glad you asked, its an issue from birth. Had a few surgeries because of it. Stings had nothing to do with it. Can't play the piano so well but I can catch a queen bee faster than most can snap thier fingers. Lol.
in our home, in PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN, a week back or so in my yard honeybees left the hive,. Perched in a banyan tree with lot of small indigenous bees, before there were quite a few storms, aphids and wasps...just before it was half full of bees...a humming sound was emanating from the hive. This had a lot of dead brood. Was it disease? Can u please guide me whats wrong with this hive?
Could be many reasons, from disease, to mites, to predators (wasps), new queen, colony too big for the [box] to chemical exposure (from flowers, maybe not the hive). You might have to search what the signs of these problems are and look at the dead bees
Yappy, Can you tell me about the Deep Hive box entrance you are using on the PURA hive? Looks like a plastic screw on entrance with sliding doors that allow you to close the entrance off or reduce it. Also a plastic landing pad. Can you discuss the pros and cons and why you wanted to use this set up and where we can find them? thanks. I went to PURA (Premier Bee Products, LLC but did not see those entrances. Thanks.
A clear plexiglass cover clipped/locked over a hive with a hose attachment toward the swarm side of it used to vacuum up the swarm with an attachment for a vacuum hose at the top back of the hive to attach a battery powered vacuum and a baffle/filter to prevent bees from clogging or being sucked into it?
@@YappyBeeman Yes, I've seen you use one of those, but I was going by what you had on hand in this case or, for that matter, what any bee keeper or wrangler would. Adding a DIY version of what I detailed wouldn't cost $320 like the Colorado Bee Vac.
What is needed is a lithium battery rechargeable low wattage heater that is the size of a frame. Just turn it on and install it in the box. Boy they might think it was great and might encourage them to head straight for the warm box! We have some livestock heaters that get just a bit warmer than ambient. I just realized that if the bees can't sting through the suit, they can't lose their stingers, so the bee suit saves worker bees' lives.
Unfortunately, they can't sting me through the suit but they will lose the stinger if it gets caught in the fabric.

Most do, situations like this are just a resting spot for them as theybtravel to a new location to build a hive in.

You cane do either. They will accept a new queen fairly easy or they can be combined with another hive.
10 c in normal temperatures.. warm for the time of year :)

You never said, did each swarm have a queen?
Because of it being after dark and cold, I put them together in the hive and locked them down a few days to work it out.
So was it two swarms or one in two bunches? It wasn't clear (to me).
I put them in 1 box when I got home and they seem to have just been 1 swarm. Only found 1 queen.

From what I’ve learned from you sir. Is always be aware of your surroundings. Not talking about the TH-cam vids either.
Do they usually sting? Or usually calm?
Also when they sting do they die? Love what you do!

Ended up being just 1.
So was it just one hive or two?
I combined them when I got home and let them work it out. Seems to be only the 1.

No. I couldn’t compete with the numbers they catch.
Great job once again :)))
