This man comes into MY house, talks to me about orcs on dinosaurs like he doesn't know what that is going to do to my wallet. Doug, why are you hitting me with that level of disrespect?
Happy to see this. I've been interested in Conquest for a while now, it seems so easy to get into (the price for a starter box is ridiculously low), rules seem well balanced, models look unreal,...
Doug I can’t Even afford AOS And you’re over here tempting me with a completely new game system for shame. Yes sir I am a Sucker for lore in fantasy settings so definitely going to be listening in on this great video
Rewatched, it's seems like Para Bellum actually wants you to be able to find and digest the Lore in a 21st century way instead of having to read 15 year old Army books for an out of print game. Nice
Absolutely. I feel like they are a great example of a "Modern wargame company". Things are accessible, free (outside of models obviously) and digital. If you grab a starter set, the reference cards for each unit have QR codes so you instantly tap into the most updated/FAQ'd set of rules every time. It's just using technology as a better tool more and more
Yea but I do enjoy reading 15 years of old army books. They could have made a more original name though since Google Search gives me 10 million links when I search "Conquest"
@padrescout From what I understand, that was something of a relatively recent phenomenon. Pre-Covid times, apparently finding succinct lore explanations on TH-cam was much harder, which tracks since 40k was generally a lot more niche and had less mainstream popularity a few years ago than it has now.
Started playing this game a few months back. I've really enjoyed. Even picked up the companion for lore and fell in love with the old Dominion. Looking forward to that video!
Came to the channel for Age of Sigmar lore a while ago, tonight TH-cam autoplay started this video as I was nodding off to sleep and now I'm wide awake and researching a new game to try XD. Absolutely incredible content as always. I'm always impressed by how much lore you can digest and turn into an easily understandable video without it ever feeling like a boring or dry.
Thanks for posting this! I was super intrigued after you mentioned that Conquest is like Dark Souls fantasy on your stream. I might just pick it up now.
On a surface level, the Spire and W'adhrun remind me a lot of Rackham's Confrontation... with the Dirz biomancers (lots of weird clones) and their displaced 'orc' creations that rebelled (and now need to find a place in the world).
I played Warmachine/Hordes when it was first released. I'm getting back into the wargame hobby. I wa going to go with The Old World, but after seeing Conquest & the price difference. NTM the ability to skirmish with the same models, Illbe going with Conquest. Watching lots of videos before I chose my two Factions to collect. The Nord will definitely be one of them. I'm a Viking at heart
i was looking online for lore about argument of kings and i found is very sparse... not even lore books to buy so im very glad i found your channel is really helpful and awesome thanks a lot!
Been searching for a Warhammer Fantasy replacement since it's death. Maybe this will be it. I really like the Dominion's armor. Roman Cuirass with the Cataphract facemask is pretty awesome.
That's the aim of this series, get more people into it! That being said, for a game as young as it is (about 2 years) the fan base is growing super well, not even considering the pandemic
I wont lie, my incredibly positive and helpful community comments section is NOT the place to go for resisting temptation buy things! XD We get quite excited, and would love for you to join us 😉
I'll do a video with a fuller dive, but essentially its a rank and flank wargame (but with far fewer models than WFB). Units activate in a "You-go-I-go" style, more like a skirmish game, and there is a lot of tactical depth in how you order your forces. In Conquest, you determine what order your units will activate at the start of the round, so planning your turn with synergies and stuff is important. :)
@@2Tough i like the sounds of a game which rewards actual strategy rather than barrelling in and relying on the statistics of dice rolls. Players who get angry at dice rolls that are below/above average need to remember AoS is as much a game of chance as it is strategy. This sounds like it removes the aforementioned douchebaggery.
I'm really enjoying this and I am keeping my eye on it for sure. I'm sad to assume that there isn't going to be a dragon faction though, that would be an instant buy from me!
Does anyone have any advice on how to build some local communities for games (that aren't GW)? My area has an issue where non-GW games aren't super popular and tend to die out pretty quickly. Has anyone else had this issue, and what did you or the community do to try and help with this? Like I would to get Conquest going in my area, but I am not sure who else would be on board/how it would last.
It does depend on your area. The big thing is to show up (as long as it's safe, bloody plague) and just show the game off. Could be running demos, playing with friends, or just painting/building in a store or club while chatting. Consistency, visibility, and enthusiasm is the key because people generally will avoid games that they don't think people are playing. Rope another person in and it will generally start to snowball from there especially if the game's ruleset/models are as good as Conquest's. You can also see if there's a local Vanguard and see if they can run a demo day and help get the ball rolling.
Greetings Doug! Do you plan on keeping conquest related uploads to your channel? You are the first AoS lore contaient creator after all, it seems like you are the first in this game too. I would love to see you continue this game. Thanks
Also, the pronunciation of the world is EH-AH if you go to google translator and use the voice command for Greek and right the letters ΕΑ you will hear how it supposed to sound.
Tolkien fantasy gets stale because so many people have copypasted it (and often not well)but tbh when you listed off the reasons that you like Ea but not tolkien fantasy you listed off the reasons people like tolkien fantasy, there are reasons so many people copied it. Middle Earth is one of my favorite settings and I know a lot of people don't really like it but to me its the classic thats become hackneyed due to others copying it.
spires have some big Legion of Everblight vibes. also you want a cash cow, do Warmahordes Lore videos. story is good and there is enough for like 2 years of videos.
As a newbie, may I have one suggestion? It would be better, to say once, that everything will oversimplified and that lore is more complex and it will be covered later in more details. Only once. Not like 10+ times. Honestly, this video started to boring me, when I heard more often "This is simplified", than actual lore. This video could have around 5 minutes less, thanks to this.
Man I wish I liked the models more. The story is cool and interesting, lore seems pretty rich and well thought out, but the models just don't do it for me.
Game looks fine, but I was never able to get into their lore. It's like a mix of everything that existed before, including mythology. Like they didn't even bother to change the name of the nordic gods, nor hide the clear inspiration from the Four Riders of the Apocalypse. It's good to have a new game, sure, but don't make it look like it's such a great innovative fantasy lore. It's not at all. Like Spires are nearly a complete copy of Alchemists of Dirz from Confrontation.
Really? This is the most original fantasy world in decades. Yes they've drawn from folk lore but yiu really need to look deeper if you think this is lazy or copy cat 🙄
There's nothing new under the sun XD , I'm sure someone called the Alchemists "derivative" of something else too. That however doesn't mean we cannot enjoy a new way to love the same old thing.
It's not stealing, it's inspiration. And it's not really the only thing they're inspired of. We often accuse GW of being generic for the same reason. Conquest isn't the exception here. There is nothing really novative here.
@@sentaijustice9207 It's not inspiration, it's literally stealing the name without even being subtle about it. If the Tolkien Estate finds out about this, they are not going to be happy.
@@ArkBlanc Actually Ea is an old PIE word, meaning land of plentiful waters. Almost nothing Tolkien named, outside of characters, is copyrighted. He simple used old English. A lot. DUDE! Awesome, so nice starting to see Conquest get some love, it is an absolutely amazing game with absolutely amazing lore.
It really is!
This is gonna be good. Sharing to help make sure this video gets attention!
Much appreciated! That's the highest compliment you can give a creator 😍
I love this game and its lore. So happy to see you covering it! Really dig the way PB has been handling their business as well
Well this must be a sign. I have been heavily considering buying into this game. I love the models and miss rank and flank gaming.
solid game with a passionate company behind it.
fantastic company to support and some super fun rules :)

Lucky for you its super cheap to get into
I mean. Conquest is pretty much cheaper than AoS, if you are not european. And still cheaper if you are.
Haha thank you so much :) Hope I hooked you!
Really enjoying your videos on Conquest. They have helped my brother and I decide what factions to play as.
