How to Play a Three-Octave G Major Scale on Cello

No, this isn't a funny video. Just one my students requested in preparation for an upcoming audition.
A tutorial on playing the 3 Octave Major Scale on the cello.

Hey, nice vid, but I wonder: why dont you continue on d string up to g' using 1st thumb position. I always see this fingering in almost every tutorial. But when it comes to fast scales in cello pieces like breval g major sonata, no one plays them on 60 cm of a string ;) Is there and reason? Best wishes, nice tutorial though.

That has been my BIGGEST problem in learning to play a third octave of g or c. NO ONE teacher tells you how to slip into thumb position and that going from
fourth to thumb takes practice.

Nice catch. Funny thing is a few cellists with massive hands (such as Bruno Philippe) will actually play 1 2 3 in 4th position 😂

$800 for a cello sounds that it's not a good cello. So I would not recommend it. A nices cheap cello is about $.2,000. So if it's 800 it sounds like it's not good for nothing.
