Thanks, I was looking for a tutorial like this Because I want to play a piece I learned on a higher octave but couldn't figure out the notes right. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much! I only knew the first two octaves, but I needed to learn the third for All-State Orchestra GMEA auditions. :) Keep up the good work and never stop!

I have a small hand. I really struggle reaching 7th position with my thumb behind the neck.

+Picco bow Your elbow may be too low. If you have to adjust your elbow height to get over the shoulder of the instrument then that shift out of 4th position will be inconsistent. Try starting in 7th then when you slide back to 4th position try to keep your elbow at that height. If you can traverse that space back and forth with a more or less stationary elbow then you'll find that shift is no big deal.

Thank you for posting this. I am learning to play the cello and I am starting to work on scales in more than one octave and this was very helpful.

    thank you !
Im a bow player , but not a cello..playing persian violin
is it in purpose that you dont use third finger?
    only 1,2,4 ?
    is it a cello thing?
or that this is the way to do position in generly?

It because the notes are natural. 3 fingers would be c # or f #

It's a cello thing. On the violin you don't do that.

My 15-year veteran orchestra director and I just discovered your channel. This was an excellent video that I need it for reference since I am a violist. I look forward to watching more of them.
