I remember watching this race in 1992 but it was a more slick production on ITV, I recorded it and must have watched it 200 times, It was hard to find any Mountain Bike programmes on the telly back then. John Tomac was a hero of mine, a superstar and I wanted to be so like him, I would perfect my Tomac "O" mouth whilst racing.

I raced the amateur that was held before the pro’s. Forgot how muddy and long the course was. Great atmosphere and weekend of racing.
Duffield really should have stuck to road racing.
Think there were minor ructions about the course conditions and layout... Plymouth was way better... Baker was phenomenally fit...
