I really miss Valur and Polly too. They taught me so much about Iceland!!! I came by to see if maybe they are back. It's not the same. I like fish a lot, but somehow that dried fish does not look very tasty. If I ever get to Iceland I will try it, it may taste better than it looks.

Looking at this because I could happily eat only hardfiskur the rest of my life. Just straight from the bag, no butter needed.
My only criticism is that there is no way on Earth the piece shown at 4:30 min is part of the process they are showing. Stuffing fish in molds cannot the only way to do it as there are many options of entire fish fillets.

This channel has gone to more like a documentary which is good for those who enjoy documentaries. I so miss the personal touch and Valurs zest for what he did. Last but not least, I miss our beautiful Polly. 😢

I like this video. It was informative and well presented. Good quality camerawork. But I do miss the personal touch by a host guiding us in every video. There is hardly a personal connection anymore between the channel's video's and the fanbase that was used to the old format. Now, the channel has become superficial, at a distant, while we used to hugging the older vids...

Awesome. I was thinking of starting a cod dried product in South Africa, but I will have to begin without machinez and a factory and without funds. Your process is perfect.
I make chicken biltong which is a spiced dried chicken product.

  • @mateuszQRDL

This would be my only snack if I only had the money. Of course, if you take into account how much fish there actually is in a 200g package and how much energy+time is required to dry it, the price becomes reasonable. But still...

  • @starlightflores

I don't like fish, however, these actually look delicious. Love the snacks for pets. Do you sell in the USA?
    Thank you

  • @WhiteTiger333

Oh, haha - I was waiting for the fish to be hung up to dry. Of course, there would be a modern factory. I see the fish snacks in the Grapevine store. Haven't decided if I want to get them, yet. The fish is not cooked and I don't normally like raw fish. But maybe, being dried, they would be the same as cooked.

So, you don't season it at all? No salt? That's interesting. Dried fish is very common in Russia and in most post USSR countries I think. But almost every time it is seasoned with salt.
That's a shame I haven't tried hardfiskur in Iceland though I've been there twice
