    Another great, concise review. I have a drop point spike and think I’ll get the tanto now too. The spikes are really quick to deploy and at 4 inches are good protection.

    For Urban Survival, that Blade checks alot of boxes for me. Size, weight, design, and price.
    With the one I have, I will change Nothing. In my opinion, the Only thing that Cold Steel could do to
    take it to the Next Level is to Add 1 inch of Tom Veff Serrations to the bottom of the Edge.
    Good Blade. Good Choice.

    I love my Bowie Spike. It's light enough and thin enough that I can carry it as a backup tucked into my sock.

    I have a Cold Steel Spike Tanto coming to me this Tuesday from Amazon. I just wanted to add a neck knife to my roster. When i get it, i will set it for left hand deployment since i will have one of my Cold Steel folding knives in my right pocket. I already bought a Cold Steel Commercial Series Scimitar and Western Hunter, as well as a Barong Machete. And you are right in saying that Cold Steel has a long list of knives and tools. They are fun and Innovative. Being a Cold Steel fan, they are ALWAYS my go to for knives! I loved your video!

    I can honestly say I've never had a poor Cold Steel product, they've been my goto for years. I've found their neck knives (especially the spike series) to be excellent, handy edc utility knive as well as for self defense. The tanto style blade id _designed_ for piercing.

    I have used Cold Steel since 1995, with the Recon Tanto (Carbon V). I have the Spike on the way, it looks to be the perfect size for plate carrier.
    That said, have you checked out the Takumitak Solution? I picked it up a few months ago, and it is a great tanto as well.

    How would you compare the 4 types for self defense? Which blade shape is better?

    • @411Outdoors
      @411Outdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have always believed the Tanto is best when looking at all just cause they pierce the best and snap cuts are better with tanto

    How do you feel about Cold steel now that is being produced in China? When Lynn sold the company I stopped buying their products what are your thoughts?

    • @411Outdoors
      @411Outdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I came into the coldsteel game kind of late, but I’ve heard about how much more quality used to be when it was here. If somebody can afford American made, I definitely say go that route, but I’ll review Cold Steel products just for those who don’t have as much to spend.

    • @rnkmode1876
      @rnkmode1876 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Even when Lynn was more involved and long before they moved their headquarters from California to Texas, Cold Steel has has alot of quality blades made in (Taiwan) not China, the majority is made in Taiwan, but they have some made in America, Italy, Japan, and China as well. The Taiwan quality is way better than China blades in my experience.

    • @411Outdoors
      @411Outdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s very easy to sharpen this but you have to be very gentle. I would use something like a “sharpens best” tool to keep an edge on it. You can order them and I believe they will ship to alot of places

    Ok, I have to educate you. For some reason in this country, likely because of the Lone Ranger, practically everyone mispronounces the Japanese word Tanto. The correct Japanese pronunciation of the word is like the Lone Ranger and Tonto. Enjoy your work.

      @@411Outdoors it’s just that I’m a fan and I want people to hear you speak correctly. It’s one of the ways I know if someone has been to Japan. The big one? Instant way to know someone is full of crap, and likely the whole system is? You will hear people say “Sensei Whoever” all the time. NO ONE who has actually been to Japan will EVER do that. It’s hugely disrespectful. The correct way is to say “Whoever Sensei.” Do it the other way, you WILL be corrected. Only a total tool says it the other way.

    Half the time they only do one side of the blade but they don’t show you that it pissed me off when I got my boot knife so I won’t get anymore of there shit. I called them the call didn’t go so good

    • @411Outdoors

      I myself have cycled through my cold steel phase. Wanted to review alot of their blades but even after all the reviews I’ve done for them, they haven’t sent me anything. And I know their quality as gone down so I get it. For my edc defense blades I’ve decided to get some stuff that although cost a little more is just better and more practical. I use Shivworks knives. As far as work, bushcraft and utility, my Mora knives or Gerber Strongarm gets it done
